1. It Bites - Dick Nolan Extreme - Pat Badger (that solo in Cupid's Dead, ye gods )
2. Thread will be locked IMMEDIATELY on the first appearance of a jellied eel or pearly king.
3. I really rather like the Zender model. Well, the body shape anyway. The neck inlays are abominable. The 5-string maple Starbass is cool, albeit a tiny bit anaemic-looking. The TM one? Ye gods.
4.
I would like to deaf in the frequency range my wife talks in..........
coffee -> screen Invent a machine that does this, and you'll be a very rich man.
5.
http://www.shukerguitars.co.uk/stock.htm
I am deeply liking the sunburst J at the bottom of the list. 650 quid, oh god I can hear my credit card whispering bad things to me...
6. Not familiar with that 2nd tune, but damned fine choice on the first one Had I remembered to bring my earbuds today (d'oh) I'd be listening to 'Pass The Peas' right now, followed by The Divine Comedy's 'National Express'.
7. Wow, that's a golden oldie... from the days when you could listen to two notes blindfolded and say "yup, that's a Trace..." An oldie but v.goodie. I'd have thought a diehard Mark King fan would snap it up in seconds.
8.
I've seen graphite saddles on guitars. They are self lubricating.
Yes, and I understand they're superb (certainly as far as trem use etc. is concerned). Wonder how they affect sustain & tone?
9. Anybody remember the Trujillo interview in a recent BGMag? He was describing his experiences in the interview process... it was fascinating to see it actually happening on the vid. I'm not a big fan of the band, but it's interesting to watch nonetheless.
At least you put "my opinion" in this time.
I'd have thought it was pretty obvious that what I was saying was just my opinion. It's not like I said "Darryl Jones says..." or "It's a fact that...".
10.
Darryl Jones doesn't agree with you! You can run the Stones down as much as you want, but, as they have pulled in a multi million, world wide audience on tour after tour for over 40 years, makes your description sound a bit like sour grapes, doesn't it!!
Sour grapes? Not a bit of it. My opinion of the Stones doesn't stem from envy at all... it stems from the fact that I think they and their music are utter crap.
11.
Metallica is technically and creatively below his [Trujillo's] abilities
+1, and the same goes for Darryl Jones with the Stones... that bunch of overhyped superannuated pub-rockers don't deserve a bassist of his calibre.
12. First bass was : Wal Pro IIE From : 1986 It cost : £330 Which today is : £686.40 I got a bit of a bargain, I reckon. Actually, my real first bass was my old Höfner Artist 2 which I got from my metalwork teacher for £20 in 1984. Or in other words, £48.60
13. Enjoyed the music, but I didn't think Tal's Marcus-like tone sat particularly well with it. I was neither over- nor under-whelmed with her playing... she did the job, fair enough, but nothing remarkable. There wouldn't be half so much hype surrounding her if she was either a} male, or b} a munter.
14.
Anything endorsed by Nathan East.
Problem with Nathan East, or his choice of kit?

Copyright issues?

The loops themselves are about 16-18 seconds long. The actual sample lengths are 8 seconds for Amen Brother and 2.5 for The Funky Drummer.
16. What's the situation with this? I've made up a couple of loops using samples of some classic old skool stuff ('The Funky Drummer' and 'Amen Brother', to be precise) for my own gratification, but I don't want to share them if it'll cause any problems.
17. Definitely +1 on the ear protection. I will also add, the Hipshot D-Tuner (sorry, 'Bass Extender Key')... still the single most useful addition you can make to a 4-string bass IMHO.
18.
Maybe Bernie could add them to the extras on the GB basses alongside the drum machine
Ah, but only if it doesn't interfere with the tea & coffee making facility.
19. I nearly drove off the road in shock and disgust when I heard the climax of the Top 30 selling Motown singles on Radio 2 last week... all those wonderful classics, Jamerson oozing from the speakers, but have a guess what was the best selling Motown single of all time? Grapevine? Signed Sealed Delivered? Dancing In The Streets? Nope. I Just Called To bastid well Say I Love You. The lamest pile of drivel imaginable. I just don't get Stevie Wonder. How can the man responsible for the genius of I Wish and Superstition also be to blame for that bag o' sheeite..?
20. Nah, if it was in proper Bristle it would have said "gert lush" or "ain't 'er grand?"
21.
I got banned for not liking JaquoXXIXIIIXX's music.
Hah! yes, I referred to him as 'Jacko-4X' once, don't think it went down too well
22. I used to go there a lot, until one day on a 'celebrities who play instruments' thread I casually mentioned that Tony Blair used to play guitar... I was publicly and soundly bollocked for making a political posting. I protested that to say the PM was a guitarist is hardly a controversial political point, and was then bollocked again for a} making another political posting, and b} publicly disagreeing with the führer. So TBH I hardly ever go there now. There is some good informative stuff to be had though.
