1.
Don't bother getting excited about the DJ5 - it's long gone.
Thank god for that, or my credit card might have started shrieking.
  2. Spotted in Trade-It, the south-west area: "bass guitar gold - 4 string right handed exlent condishion"
  3. +1 for the socket tester, these are a damn good idea.
A new extension reel is top of my Santa list so hopefully that'll sort it. I'll just add that i'm ALWAYS connected to an RCD as i have a healthy respect for electricity.
Please, beat the beardy to it and buy one NOW, before you play next. The next shock might be a big bastard, and I do NOT want to see your R.I.P. thread on here
  4. The alternative would be to decide on your bridge, position it accurately and then get a friendly chippie/luthier to rout out a rebate for it to sit in, thus lowering the saddle height by 3mm or so (or however thick the bridge baseplate is). Obviously this is more work, but worth it I reckon. Seven-fifty! Ye gods, what an utter bargain!
  5. Yes, and I believe they own 'J-Bass' as a trademark too. I'm only surprised their hawk-eyed legal vultures haven't swooped in on anyone using 'J' as a descriptive of a Jazz pickup.
  6. Yup, he might have done. I saw them live on the telly once though and he was definitely using a Mouradian then.
  7. And you'll need a new nut, and a bit of work on the bridge (swapping saddles around etc). A decent luthier should rustle you peanuts for this sort of work.
  8.
yeah agree its totally about cutting through. been listening to the early Extreme stuf and particularly the Pornograffitti album, pat uses a warwick on there and you can clearly hear the nasal tone of his warwick cutting through Nuno's guitar, which it needs to do as the guitar is quite over powering
A Warwick, really? Blimey, I'd always assumed it was his Mouradian. Maybe he just kept that for the videos? Our very own joegarcia is another 'semi-skilled monkey on the PA desk'. Only he doesn't make it sound like mud, he makes it (and the rest of the band) sound very very very very VERY good indeed.
  9. I had a ganglion cyst on my right wrist a couple of years back. I went to a doctor, who wasn't a c***. He referred me. They checked it. Operated. Bloody good job they did, as it was in danger of encroaching on the major blood vessel in my wrist. This would have caused very serious problems. Seriously, in all honesty, change your playing style or whatever, but I implore you to please please get the lump checked out. I am forever grateful that I did.
  10. Oh boy, I had one of these way back in 1986... some bastid nicked it. Gutted. Still the best phaser I've had or heard.
  11.
Alternatively, the headstock may prove to be a useful tool to keep a rowdy frontman in check... BIFF! Ow!
Or a pointy headstock could be used as an improvised spear for catching fish, should it become necessary to forage for food from the surrounding countryside.
  12. Used to do Oliver's Army in a band many years ago, and I was going to do something simple until I took the time to listen closely to the bassline. Ohhhh, it's wonderful. I just had to copy it... took a while to work it out, but was worth it.
  13. And large chunks of western Scotland too
  14. Oh, cool Do you play it with a pick, or fingerstyle? Is it even possible to play it fingerstyle? I'd love an 8 or a 10. How about doing a full Review for the, errm, Reviews section?
  15.
Indeedy. But the Hartke... sorry.
I cannot possibly comment here, as I still like my old 3500 head a lot.
  16. Oh god oh god oh god... nurse, my pills... I'd give money just to see one, never mind touch it, never mind play it.
although a heavy bass.
God I can imagine. My Pro II four clocks in at 10lbs+, it's like wearing a car.

    Funk

Me too. Schtoopid works PC, no soundcard, websense blocking almost everything, harrumph.
  18. I'm not claiming to be actually harmed, just offended, that's all. We're just disagreeing over his words in exactly the same way as people have been disagreeing over whether metal or jazz is better, with some people taking more offence of comments made than others. Maybe I am being a bit knee-jerk, but I still didn't like it. Happy to knock it on the head now though. Also, I remember seeing the original help-line call thing with the phrase in it about packing up their computer to return it to the shop where they bought it as they're obviously to stupid to own one, and it didn't mention Jaco once
  19. I'd have thought it was obvious. Fusion gets described as paedophilia: that's utter nonsense. As I said earlier, I used to play fusion & would like to do so again, and I have kids, so I personally find it to be offensive nonsense. Am I being so unreasonable? I dare say now I will be told to chill out, get a sense of humour, it's just his way, god you're so sensitive, and blah blah blah. No. EDIT: there y'go, apparently I'm stupid now. Jeez.
  20.
earlier on, I believe jazz-fusion was even referred to as 'kiddy-fiddling'

Erm... wrong Rich. From how I read it, the BBC was trying to describe his level of hatred for the fusion style. Read it in context and you'll see.
I'm wrong?
If it's anything that could be described as "Jazz" or its kiddy-fiddling cousin "Fusion", then I'm setting fire to my face.
Nope, I'm not. Sure he was describing his hatred for the style, but there are ways of doing it and ways of doing it, y'know? How the f*** exactly does fusion become paedophilia? Sorry, but I object.
  21.
Can you do some decent porn shots of your headless wonder, please?

why?
Why not?
