No I just think this site starting to serve fewer and fewer people everyday. Its becoming TOO big,The same things (Clips, vids, threads) keep coming up and the SAME sh*tehurling occurs....over musical taste, style, wood choice,Bass choice (P's Vs J's....PLEASE NO MORE)..String number (Old and dead). respect works both ways, but sometimes its getting tedious.....right now is one of those times...I wont let some 18/20 something f***tard with a firewood Japcrap tell me what I should listen too, neither will I bow to "I own X make of instrument so therefor my opinion counts" type crap either,Im just as bad,as I just use this place to let off steam after a day at work. Thats why I tend to enjoy Finnbass a bit more, less buttkissing, more gags, and generally more actual info about a question (and a good few DIY tips too)...Just wish there was a bit more going on...... ...So thats me off then...thanks for the memories folks, have a good day! XRX
The pickup is fugly, although I don't doubt its flexibility. I'd prefer to see it presented 'traditionally' as two separate units, albeit functioning as it presently does. I'm very much liking this one: But the prices? Oh dear oh dear oh deary deary dear. They'll be lucky to shift many I reckon.

The book (a good read, I thoroughly enjoyed it!) is now winging its way to angelboy. So let the next round of bagsies begin
Might be wrong, but i thought it was PP. I know John Giblin did a couple of tracks on the album though. [Great player] This might help... 3/4 of the way down... http://www.bassplayer.com/article/4-fantastic/Mar-04/622 Garry
Oh well, I stand corrected I'd always thought it was JG... Pino's name doesn't appear on the album credits y'see. Anyway, it does sound remarkably like JG's impeccable fretless work, even if it really isn't.

Yawn-a-feckin-rama
Lady in Red... I avoided paying it any attention at all until someone pointed out recently that it's Pino on bass..
It was John Giblin... another brilliant, tasteful player.

What a cracker. Are you keeping it fretless, or getting it fretted?
Level 42- Mr Pink
Good call. That's the one I turn to if someone says "can you do that slappy stuff?". So after 30 secs or so of Mr.Pink, I stop and say "yeah, but badly"

'Little Wing', Jonas Hellborg's version.
While you're at it, could you also remind him that I bought and paid for: an original 1959 Fender P-bass with "JJ" scratched on the headstock a 1963 Vox AC30 once owned by Keith Richard a 1968 Rickenbacker 12-string with the chords to While My Guitar Gently Weeps sellotaped to the upper bout If he'd like to drop them round next week, I could make Wednesday evening at a push.
Yes, and while you're about it, could you mention to him that he has sold me the following items:

His soul
and that I'd like to arrange collection/delivery at some point if poss. Thanks. If he needs my address, it's Mr. B. Elzebub 666, Hell Avenue Croydon
Yup, I love 'em too. Them and Pearl ones are getting me going at the moment. I now have the Pearl phaser, flanger and chorus and love them all.
I've got Pearl octave and analog delay pedals. The octave is brilliant -- ten times better than the Boss IMO. I don't use the delay and might be forced to put it up for sale at some point.

I own mine too The only change I'd like to make now is to swap the EMGs for Delanos... will probably get that done at some point. Apart from that... mmmm, perfect. An identical-twin fretless would be nice...

Rock Steady is a fabulous groove. You're right, it's an A 'verse' with a D bridge. Honestly, don't bother looking for tab or anything for it, just give it a lot of listens and play along with it. It's all about feel, and you'll never get that from tab or transcripts. It's a mutha, you'll love it. A 2 note bassline has never been so funky

It's a shame it's turned out so badly for you. And what with the euro giving the pound such a kicking at the moment, Thomann aren't quite the bargainhaus they used to be either.

What's the most over-rated bass, or bass related product???
Rich replied to silverfoxnik's topic in General Discussion
I played through a Superfly at a support gig we did a while back. I was really looking forward to trying it, but I hated the tone (as usual for Ashdowns). I had to really crank the EQ to get anything approaching nice out of it. Disappointing. -
Mo Foster is a legend, an absolute geezer... for those of you who haven't read his book "Seventeen Watts?" (published in the US as "Play Like Elvis!"), I can only advise that you do so, as soon as possible. It's an absolute hoot and a real eye-opener. Never again will you complain about a lack of amp power or the weight of your 1x15... EDIT: also, his album 'Bel Assis' is a must.

Says it all really. It worked last time I tried it, but is not brilliant, and is scruffier than a tramp who's let himself go a bit. See the pics. It's pretty much spares or repair. [s]2nd class postage is about 2 quid, so call it £8 posted?[/s] SOLD You're welcome to pick it up if you're local, but unless you live next door (in which case, hi Margaret) it'd cost more than 2 quid in fuel to get here.

By the sounds of it, angelboy has been after it for ever -- so it's him after me, unless he says he doesn't want it.

Depends on your taste in music, but I'd say almost anything by Rush for starters.
