1. I bet you are, chief. Lovely bass it is too.
2. If someone would care to start a Sei thread, I can contribute to that one too... I used to have a nice Flamboyant 5...
Status series 3000. Spalted beech top and refinish done by Jon Shuker.
Oh yes. I loved this bass first time I clapped eyes on it. Doc, could you PM me and give me an idea how much the refin and new top cost? I'm thinking of having a similar job done on a bass of mine. OK, here's my '90ish S1 deluxe 5 string, with homemade ramp. A bit beaten up and dinged, but a very lovely bass. The quilt top is a mile deep under the lights.
3.
Oh stop whingeing you Bristol people!
Oh bog off, Taff
4.
Congratulations to Rich for modelling 'accessory of the decade' - attached to his stand AND being in the Wal thread too , bloody show off
Thanks Doc If anyone wants to start a Status thread, I'll muscle my way into that one too
5. 'Bel Assis', Mo Foster
6. Here's my custom J5... since the pics were taken, she's now wearing nice ebony control knobs courtesy of a splendid chap in the US.
7. Here's PB1533, resting on my terrible lawn...
8. I bring the Shuke to play and the Status just in case, plus I take my tool/spares box -- I refer to it as my 'oh-sh1t box' -- containing (deep breath) screwdrivers, spanners, a million allenkeys, pliers, snips & scissors, nail-clippers, wire-strippers, strings, PP3s, fuses, gas-iron, solder, insulating & double-sided tapes, torch, cable, wire, pots, resistors, switches, heatshrink insulation, jack plugs & sockets, rapid araldite, superglue, multimeter, switch cleaner...
9. +1 on the pickups & polepieces. To stop the distortion on mine, I ended up lowering the pickups almost all the way down into the surrounds. The bass' output is huge. The pot spindles are quite delicate, they snap into the top of the pot via two little clip/prong things which can very easily break off. As some of mine did, some time ago. They're all OK at the moment, but god help me if they break again. My bass is currently wearing non-original control knobs and I'd love to get some originals for it. My bass is PB1533, & I bought it for £330 in 1986.
10. The Enormous Room is just stunning. It nearly moves me to tears every time. Manring is a genius.

Miow!

Yup, we have a cat. Cute furry little fellow, isn't he? Bless. Y'know, there's nothing quite like having a cat around the... ...hold on..? Oh FFS. You should see what the little sod has just left in my shoes. Grr. If I get my hands on you, you'll be a tennis racquet.
13. I never tire of listening to JB's performance on 'Joe Frazier'... blows my mind every time. I've never heard anything else of his that has come remotely close. His arrogance must be visible from the moon.
14.
I wish I was rich
Nah, being me is highly overrated.
15. Didn't somebody once say "if it sounds right, it is right**"..? I bet he didn't worry about whether it was a demented third or a diminished responsibility or whatever. ** sorry if this has been done already, but to be honest I got through part of this thread and then started to lose the will to live.
16. I think they fit Black Labels at the factory?
17.
my NVQ3 in Customer Service is screaming that if he gives me the cardboard box to sell my bass, I might actually spend the proceeds in his shop one day.
Whereas now your money will be spent elsewhere, and all he's left with is a cardboard box and a riot of bad publicity. What a clown.

GAS attack or what? *drool* Anybody know what the going rate for a kidney is these days?
19.
Punter (as I start packing gear): "You were really good for a tribute band."
To which of course the correct response would be, "And you're really chatty for an ignorant twat."
20. Or alternatively, "what's wrong with my subscription?"... I haven't received my copy of the latest issue yet
21. A few years ago I was in a jazz fusion trio... playing in a Bristol jazz venue pub place, we'd just finished murdering a lengthy Bruford tune when this guy approached me... Him: "Oi mate, do you do Paranoid by Black Sabbath?" Me: *stunned silence* Him: "Oh c'mon, you must know it." Me: "Mate, we're a fusion band -- even if we did know it, do you honestly think for a moment that it's the sort of thing we play?" Him: "Yeah go on, you can do it." Me: *glare that says 'f*** off you complete idiot'* "Ahem, I don't think so."
