1. At the moment my signal chain is simply: Bass --> Trace Elliot dual compressor --> Boss volume pedal (tuner in sidechain) --> Amp although at some point the Deep Impact will probably work its way in (for the octaver settings if nothing else). I'm guessing it'd be best placed before the compressor to keep the playing dynamics..?

Sorry, I can't have been concentrating. Where did he say 'fact'?
If only Doctor Who owned a fender jazz, eh?
In which case it'd be www.basstransdimensionalspiralencompassingeverypointandeventinthespacetimecontinuum.co.uk Name's immaterial to me. Just so long as it's friendly & cool & informative & bassy & stuff.
  5. Make that 20-year-old Labella flats.
It's covered in depth on this page: http://bassland.net/jamerson.html#new Scroll down to "Who Played Bass on Stevie Wonder's "I Was Made To Love Her"?"
Have you listened to the Joe Osborn interview on there? The disgust in his voice is quite amazing... he ain't too impressed with a certain somebody
  6.
Thought long and hard about the colour but in the end decided it had to be black with chrome, standard Spitfire build (GB Pups, GB Active, Schaller 200 Bridge and Hipshot Ultralights). Its made from swamp ash so is nice and light. I did consider a Status Retro in black but I wanted an in-between neck and Status only did P or J. One extra was some rather fetching blue LED's as playing fretless on a blacked out stage can be a bitch.
After seeing thumbo's stealth Jazz, I reckon you should definitely go the black hardware route with your lovely fretless GB. It already looks good, but with black bits it'd be the bomb.
  7. And they are..? C'mon, spill the beans! PS when you see the original, it'll blow your mind.
  8.
This is the only custom bass I've ever had made. It ended up being a bit of a mess at the end of the day.
Well I liked it. This is my custom Shuker J5... body is burl maple on English white ash in satin 'baccy sunburst, neck is maple/wenge/flamed maple with birdseye maple fingerboard & orange side LEDs, pickups are EMG-40TWs with 'coil taps' & Jon Shuker's superb 3-band EQ.

  10. When I get round to it, my rack will be a 4U one containing EA iAmp350 head, Trantec S3.5 wireless receiver and Yamaha FX500 multi-FX unit. The remaining 1U space will hopefully get filled with one of these Funk Logic puppies... at last, a 'Vintagerator' control that goes from 'Ugh' to '1001001'..!

    Octave Pedle
I use a Pearl Octaver which sounds fantastic, quite a dirty almost synthy tone. Mind you they are quite expensive on ebay (no longer in production) I am borrowing mine of my bass teacher.
+1 for the old Pearl 8ve pedal... I have one and the sound is superb, it knocks seven shades of sheeite out of the Boss IMO. It has an 'octave up' feature too, which to be honest is pretty crap, but the usual octaves down are tremendous. They are fetching absurd amounts on fleaBay at the moment. Glad you're still liking the EH pedal Nick!
  12. Status, Shuker, Trantec wireless, Euphonic Audio iAmp350 head, Nemesis 2x10 and 1x15 cabs, Trace Elliot compressor, Boss volume pedal, Korg tuner. Fairly soon the EA head will be going into a 4U case along with a newer Trantec receiver and an old Yamaha FX500 ½-rack FX unit.
  13. Confucious say, one bass is too many and 1000 are not enough...
  14. This was me at a recent gig: Status, Shuker, Trantec wireless, Euphonic Audio iAmp350 head, Nemesis 2x10 and 1x15 cabs, Trace Elliot compressor, Boss volume pedal, Korg tuner. Fairly soon the EA head will be going into a 4U case along with my other Trantec receiver and Yamaha 1/2 rack FX unit.
  15. Fleece, Bristol, St.Paddy's Night -- the Shuke's debut public appearance I always pull faces when I'm up the dusty end Shocking pic of me, but a great pic of my wonderful children
  16. Love that spalted wood -- gorgeous. What a superb bass. Can I have it please?
