  1. Used to do ARN in a blues-rock trio I was in many years ago, I sang lead though so I at least had something to do in the verses! I loved the solo bit once I'd cracked it. Definitely up the dusty end for the higher notes with an open string drone.
  2. Really? Not sure I've seen it before.
  3. Wee bit of fret buzz on the Spector earlier. A tiny nth of a turn on the truss road and it's buzzless & singing like a canary again. God I love this bass.

Do I need to quote Hannibal Smith?

I pity the foo that quotes Hannibal Smith.

  4. Probably this Ibby TMB30-MGR 4. Or if I needed a 5, the GSR205B.
  5. I've just pulled the trigger on this. For me its big advantage is that it has separate 9v outputs rather than just one or two like some other rechargeables. This means I can use my existing power cables, which is grand because a} I spent ages making them and b} I'm not mad keen on daisy-chaining. I shall report back when it turns up.
  6. Who made the suggestion of a 'replacement' bassist? Was it the guitarist who is leaving? Breathtaking cheek/arrogance if so.
  7. Horace could play a Daisy Rock and make it look cool. The man is a god.
  8. It's a good'un, but for me it's pipped by this one:
  9. Further to the 'community?' thread, do any of the Bristol BC massive fancy getting together for a pint and a yak? Maybe even a ruby?

      If it's a yak curry I'm in!

  10. Oh god yes. Very early on, I was publicly boIIocked on TB for apparently breaking their no-politics rule by simply mentioning the two words "Tony Blair" on a thread about celebs who play instruments. I then got a second public spanking for expressing surprise. Suffice it to say I feel no sense of community there at all and visit very infrequently.
  11. I recently found out to my that the charismatic frontman of a band I've been following on Farcebook (and have seen a couple of times) has politics that are somewhere to the right of Genghis Khan. Should it affect my enjoyment of their performances? Probably not. Has it? Sadly yes. I have difficulty watching him, knowing what's going on in his head.
  12. I've been here since the 100-member days of BassWorld. Hell yes it's a community, at least IMO. I've met some really lovely people through this place, and whilst I don't see any on a daily or even weekly basis (more's the pity) it's always lovely getting together with them at the Bashes.
  13. Getting rid of Git 1 is definitely the best move. Just turn up for the gigs? Cheeky sod. And to be honest, if Git 2 can't play over changes he's a waste of space, so I'd give him his marching orders too. It's a complete pain in the arris finding the right people, but the perfect guy/gal for the job is out there somewhere.
  14. Excluding the obligatory school gig, I was 21. The Red Lion in Brentford (RIP), supporting Philip Jap's band 'Secret Society'. I used my Wal and a Roland SH-09 synth, through my Laney Pro Bass 4x10 combo.
  15. You sir are a man of exquisite taste. I bet those two are absolute ársekickers. I've never tried anything with SimS pickups but I'd very much like to.
  16. That would look fabulous in seafoam green with the pearly plate.
  17. If it were me, I'd be keeping the Jazz with the Status neck, and the fretless with the maple board.
  18. I've fitted those to most of my pedals too. Unfortunately the button on the MS60B is slightly too big to fit in one.
  19. And the extraordinary, exquisite Liz Fraser of the Cocteau Twins. https://youtu.be/s-5Xgw6d3h0
  20. I seem to recall Phill Jupitus reckoned it was about making a beverage for a soul singer who hadn’t arrived… “Make me a tea, and make it straight No sign of Seal? I’ll take it.”
