  1. Tramp the Dirt Down - Declan McManus
  2. That bass sound is totally, utterly wrong. Ruins the whole thing for me. And I speak as a recent Spector convert.
  3. I saw this posted on Farcebook the other day and had to share it here. The Big Muff is its own pedal board... apparently the owner's fitted a power brick (presumably a small one) inside the Muff which powers all of the pedals, so the entire thing is self contained. I don't know if it's brilliant, or completely mental, or a combination of the two.
  4. Baby, It's Cold Outside - Frank Loesser
  5. Which undoubtedly translates as "I'd be a fan if you didn't say things I disagree with".
  6. "Oi, who are you calling flaccid, pal?
  7. "What?? But when you said 'f**k you I won't do what you tell me', I thought you were talking about the goddamn feminists!"
  8. We have 49,525 members. Expect 49,525 different replies. Seriously though, have you considered a preamp swap? Something like a John East Uni-Pre** would do the trick. ** Other preamps are available.
  9. I'm comfortable with 19/20mm spacing... uncomfortable with 17mm. 16.5mm is, for me, unplayable. OK for the Mark King fanboys I suppose. But hey, maybe I've just been lazy for the 30 years I've been playing 5 strings. 🙄 My answer to the OP question is, from the offered options, Dingwall. Given free rein, it probably wouldn't be.
  10. I'd track down my old Sei and beg to buy it back.
  11. A study by the Institute Of Incomplete Research has found that 6 out of 10 people.

      I believe that.

Institutions can get funding for nearly anything nowadays.

  12. Yet another MS60B user here. I love the fact that it does pretty much everything my beloved old Bass Pod XT Live did, in about 10% of the floor space.
  13. Yes, the new filter will automatically change "pish" to "absolute poppycock, old bean".
  14. You're on the list now that home-brewed amp would definitely be of particular interest, I suspect.
  15. Listen closely to the sublime, glorious bassline of For Once In My Life, and then tell me again that he had an easy ride
  16. Steve @Chownybass, will you be able to join us or are you going to be running round a city somewhere?
  17. OK, this is a list so far of definite and possible attendees for the Absent Friends Memorial SWBB 2023. Feel free to copy/paste/amend/etc: The food. Oh god, the food. @scrumpymike @Jabba_the_gut - an array of stunning builds, probably @Rich - Spector Q4, Shuker 5-string, G-B Shuttle 9.2, Barefaced Super 12T @Kateplaysbass - assorted short scale loveliness and Ashdown ampiness @Woodinblack - Ibanez AGB205, possibly NS WAV5 bass, various amps for mooted amp shootout (tbc) @basstone @Phil Starr - the usual top notch collection of home built speaker projects and other fascinating stuff @BreadBin ✝️ @MichaelDean @TRBboy @Chienmortbb - loads of stuff @Thor - a few bits @Frank Blank - Jabba short scale fretted and fretless, Ibanez SRC6, Grace Design Alix, QSC K12.2
  18. I hate it when opera singers have a bash at 'popular' music. It never works. Never.
  19. Another mod... the EMG HZ pickups are 4 wire, so after a bit of internet research I've coil tapped them using a pair of push-pull pots for the volume controls. The taps operate the inner coils, i.e. the two closest to each other. The end result is very satisfying, an extra bit of colour for the tonal palette.
  20. Thatch the Way (I Like It) - KC and the Sunshine Band
  21. Apart from Alexandra Burke's version of Hallelujah being a huge festering U-blocker, which is an absolute fact.
