  1. This is all becoming quite ridiculous.
  2. I remember many many years ago going to their Bristol branch for a set of Wharfedale Delta 30 speakers. I'd seen good bang-for-buck reviews and they were pretty much the best I could afford on my limited budget. I was all ready for a pushy salesman to try to talk me into something more expensive, so I went in ready for an argument and said to the assistant, "I'd like some Wharfedale Delta 30s please". He just sighed and smiled and said "Oh I love it when someone knows what they want... I'll just go get you a boxed pair..."
  3. I have a very nice Avo meter that I *ahem* borrowed from work on a very long term basis. Thanks all. Plenty to go on 👍
  4. Having said that I like simple functionality, this (when combined with one of their lovely hollow-body guitars) is my favourite headstock of all. I love art deco style and this to me is a thing of beauty. My mate has one of their exquisite jazz guitars and it is probably the most beautiful instrument of any type that I have ever seen.
  5. 100%. See my earlier comment re: simple functionality. Of course, it does help that it's attached to a Wal bass
  6. Hi all I've noticed that my Super 12T isn't giving the bright snap at the top end that I'd expect from a cab with a tweeter -- the specs say the usable freq range tops out at 22kHz, but I don't think it's anywhere near that. My old 1x12 practice combo's top end used to sound similar until I added a crossover and bullet tweeter, and now it's got a far more noticeable snap than the S12T. For this reason, I'm starting to wonder if the S12T's tweeter is working. Anyone know the specs of the tweeters they use? I guess it could also be the x-over, but I think the tweeter could be the place to start.
  7. It very much looks like a solution in desperate need of a problem.
  8. A Day In The Life - obscure Northern beat combo
  9. Oh come on, it wasn't an hour. It was 21 minutes.
  10. Cool link! Check out this one https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/patronise
  11. It already is a great company. And when it comes down to it, the decision is neither yours nor mine to make. As I've already said on more than one occasion, it is what it is.
  12. Obviously I'd prefer it if Wals were built like Foderas and priced like Squiers and had a lead time of 3 months, but that's not going to happen either. I'm entirely happy that the Wal brand is in the apparently safe hands that it's in -- and as far as costs and lead time are concerned, it really is what it is. I'm at a loss to understand your gist TBH.
  13. Would you/we ask the same questions of Fodera? Or Alembic? Or any other high-value/low-volume bass maker? I've got a Wal**, an old Pro that I was lucky enough to pick up back when they were as cheap as chips. Obviously from a purely fiscal point of view I'm very happy that its value has gone through the roof, but on the other hand it's a real shame that -- barring a pools win or a substantial dip into my pension lump sum -- I will never own the Mk3 5-string I'd so desperately love. However, it is what it is. I think it's entirely up to Paul and the Wal crew how they want to run their ship. If their current business model is sustainable and comfortable, then they have every right to keep it that way. ** and guess what, I'm neither a doctor nor a lawyer and can string at least 3 notes together. Ain't stereotypes great?
  14. Yes, I think the location was generally agreed by the then membership as a good compromise for all. Obviously we'd all love it to be 5 miles from our front door but in the absence of matter transporters or a wormhole in space-time that's a bit difficult. It certainly worked ok for me because a) I like a drive and b) my bro lives near N'ampton so it was a good excuse to pop in and see him. I'd be up for a National Bash v3.0 if it was similarly located.
  15. I've always loved the cool, functional simplicity of the Aria/Westone headstock. I definitely prefer 2+2 or 3+2 to 4 inline.
