  1. My stepson has just tested positive, 8 days before he was due to leave for his fortnight's holiday in the Maldives. They've been looking forward to it for literally years. Gutted is an understatement.

Seems like most people are clear after 5 days or so. Fingers crossed.

I know someone that waited the best part of 2 years to finally get away with his girlfriend, a couple of days after landing, she got food poisoning and they had to come home early.

Negative PCR test no greater than 96 hours before arrival

  2. This is still here? Even at this silly bargain price? Ye gods. Sounds great in that wee vid, it's got that slightly compressed 80s tone. Somebody buy it FGS.
  3. Yes mate, it was the very same one this thread has gone full circle! Glad it's ok and I hope it serves you as well as it has me.
  4. What's the Hurry? - Marianne Faithfull
  5. Oh god yes. Daniel O'Donnell makes Chris de Burgh look like Freddie Mercury. My ex-wife went to see Japan back in the day, she reckoned David Sylvian only moved twice during the entire set: once when he walked on stage to the mic stand at the start, and the second when he walked off stage at the end.
  6. Maybe it's just my interpretation, but I was of the impression that pete's "you" was very much non-specific. I don't think he meant you personally.
  7. Already done -- in Red Dwarf, Holly invented 'Hol Rock', where he decimalised music (having ten notes instead of eight—although he admits that this would result in "piano keyboards being the width of a zebra crossing, and women being banned from playing the cello"). His new scale went "Doh Re Mi Fa Soh La Woh Boh Ti Doh".
  8. Similar here, with the ska band anyway. I listen to it, play along with it, then write my part out for rehearsal & practice. Sometimes if there's a tricky part that I can't quite make out, I'll check out a few tabs. And yes, most of them turn out to be wrong in one way or another. Some are total works of fiction. With the soul band, our MD does all the arrangements so we all get sheet music for our parts. He knows I'm not a reader, so bless 'im he puts all the note names along the stop, like this. I can follow a chart quite well now even if I can't tell what the actual notes are. Name that tune
  9. I'm So Happy I Can't Stop Crying - Sting
  10. Oops, sorry, yes that's right. *ahem* NO, OF COURSE THERE IS NO SECRET HQ. THERE IS NO CHAMPAGNE OR CAVIAR. Phew. Nearly gave the game away there.
  11. Well the champagne in the fridge at our secret mountain-top BCHQ doesn't buy itself, y'know.
  12. I'm hoping this one will last if I can keep the feckin mice off it.
  13. No issues at all. This was the exact stuff I used, in fact it's the same can of glue I used to make my previous Grammabodge well over 10 years ago. The foam is still stuck fast to that one... well what's left of it anyway, since the mice got to it...
  14. There's been a length of the Auralex platfoam stuff lurking in a corner of my spare room/office for donkey's ages, so today I finally got my arris in gear and spent a very pleasant afternoon putting a DIY Gramma together. Turned out really well. Marine ply; foam; offcut of carpet; Evostik spray glue; staples/staple gun; corner plates; screws.
  15. Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! - Vaughn Monroe
  16. V.nice bit of lovers' rock. Song's better than the video, which TBH looks like a moving Freemans catalogue.
  17. OT for a second... Did you ever get a resolution of that in the end? Things were moving from what I recall of our last exchange. PM if you'd rather not say publicly.
