  1. I played drums at school and they were my 1st love, but bass is my true love. I'd quite happily have stuck with the tubthumping though, and no doubt by now I would have surrounded myself with a vast array of acoustic and electronic percussion. Oh you'd love my mate's tiny vintage Slingerland Gene Krupa kit. Very compact and monumentally cool.
  2. And finally, it's finished. If I had the patience, I could have operated on the decal and made it follow the curve closer, but it's fine for my needs. Assuming nothing else breaks, that really is The End
  3. Hold on, I thought we'd already had the stripper story?
  4. And start yelling for more after your last song. Followed of course by the grimly inevitable "Can my boyfriend/brother/uncle/mate have a go on your guitar? He's dead good, he used to play with the Drifters".
  5. Groom played by James Fleet. Bride by Katie Price. Groom's family by the Crawleys out of Downton Abbey. Bride's family by the cast of Shameless. Meat 'chefs' by Cheech and Chong. Band by Steel Panther.
  6. God, aren't they just. I remember when Kiwi brought his round to my gaff. We set my rig up in the garage to give it a blast. It literally made shelves fall off the walls.
  7. I have a somewhat modified Thunder 1A - it plays really nicely and sounds huge, especially with the pickup in series. BUT. It is indeed a weighty old beast and, unfortunately, the neck dives like an Argentinian footballer. That top body horn is just too short. Can't comment on the SB as I've never even laid a finger on one, but that string spacing does look awfy narrow.
  8. If I tried that it'd take me half an hour to get on my feet again. I practice and rehearse on my árse, but play gigs on my feet. I've played a couple of gigs seated in the past, but that was when I had a serious cartilage problem in my knee which made standing for long periods v.painful.
  9. I've reported all his ads as scams, and his profile too. Not that I'm expecting it to achieve much.
  10. Sei Flamboyant 5 string. It was a stunning instrument -- I mean, just look at it -- but I couldn't get the setup right, so in a fit of pique I sold it. What a stupid, stupid move. Piezo bridge, Schack eq, Bart pickups (wasn't super-keen on them, but that's an easy fix), blue edge LEDs and a whole forest of stunning walnut. I should have given it to a luthier and got them to do it properly, hell I should have taken it home to Camden -- a decent setup and a set of Delanos and it would have been simply perfect. It was beautifully made, felt great to play (apart from my crap set-up job) and the sound was to die for. I often kick myself, very hard, for letting that one go. Arrrgh. Ouch (just kicked myself again).
  11. Rule 6: 6. Your Conduct. You also explicitly agree that you shall not: ( a ) provide any content or conduct yourself in any way that may be construed as; unlawful, illegal, threatening, harmful, abusive, etc In other words: play nicely. This is not open for negotiation.
  12. Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now - 3 decent musos and a whining tosser
  13. "ABBA have settled their lawsuit against the UK tribute act ABBA MANIA, who they’d initially targeted last month for trademark infringement. In a suit filed on December 3, the Swedish icons described the cover band’s behaviour as “parasitic and bad-faith”, claiming that ABBA MANIA were intentionally misleading fans into believing they’re endorsed by the real group. It was said in the lawsuit that ABBA gave ABBA MANIA an opportunity to change their name, but ABBA MANIA refused."
  14. I started to write something, but then found that everything I wanted to say had already been said..! I find this is the ideal compromise between lined and unlined:

  16. A couple. Not enough to fund any toys though.
