** SOLD ** Yamaha BB2004 - Natural
Gary Williams replied to Gary Williams's topic in Basses For Sale

I bought this beauty back in September 2015 from fellow Basschatter mmc as I had some short term gigs abroad and wanted a "budget" bass so I didn't have sleepless nights worrying about taking my CS Pino or MM Stingray...... we've all seen those photos on Facebook of broken guitars and cases on runways caused by clumsy baggage handlers. Plus I've always wanted a Yamaha bass! What I didn't expect was the build quality of this bass, it's built like a tank (but only weighs 9 pounds) and also the fantastic variety of sounds available via the great actives onboard this bass - ferocious P bass tones and great active slap tones with sizzling highs. But I now need to pass her on as she is no longer required and I don't want to upset Mrs Williams. Here's a clip of Nick Fyffe from Jamiroquai putting a Yamaha BB2004 through its paces: https://www.youtube....xHaim0yhALtQesg I have no idea of age but I guess it is fairly new as it is in great condition but I do know they are now unavailable from new. The serial number is QML 249003 if that helps anyone. At a guess, I'd say 24th September 2003 but I'll message mmc to see if he knows the exact age. Just Googled and they were apparently discontinued in 2006. There are a couple of dings on the body top and bottom edge and small ding on the headstock as you can see in the pictures below but all very small and superficial. Here's the spec from GAK on the BB2004: “Designed with a sleek, deep-cutaway body profile, this new bass offers many of the features that have made Nathan East's BB-NE2 the deserved flagship of the BB range. The maple/mahogany through-neck promotes maximum sustain in conjunction with individual bridge assemblies for each string, while the playing range is a full two octaves. The rosewood fingerboard is decorated with sumptuous pearl block markers. A stunning palette of sounds comes via two powerful single-coil, controlled by two-band EQ and a pickup balancer, plus the additional tone-shaping facilities of a variable mid cut frequency control and cut-off switch.” Here's the Yamaha Spec: Scale Length: 863.6mm Construction: Through Neck Length: 1137.0mm Width: 315.0mm Net Weight: 4.3kg Body Material: Maple, Alder Body Depth: 47mm Fingerboard Material: Rosewood Fingerboard Width: 0-F40.0mm,12-F56.4mm No. of Frets: 24 Neck Material: Maple, African Mahogany Neck Thickness: 1-F21.1mm,12-F26.4mm Hardware: Chrome Plated Nut: Bone Bridge: BPZ-8 Diecast (Chrome) Controls: Master Volume, Bass, Treble, Mid Cut Freq, Balancer, Mid Cut Toggle Switch Pickups: Front: Humcancel (Split Single Coil) Rear: Stacked type (Single Coil) Magnet: Alnico V Price: £450.00 (which is what I paid for it) The bass came without a gig bag or case and I don't have a spare cheap case so I guess this sale may be a pickup only. I am based in Horsham in West Sussex and willing to travel a reasonable distance to meet up if required. NB: Pics show Ernie Ball straplocks but the original straplocks will be refitted for the sale. Here's the pics: (taken outside on yet another very grey day unfortunately!)

*** SOLD *** MXR M87 Bass Compressor
Gary Williams replied to Gary Williams's topic in Effects For Sale

Up for sale, my wonderful MXR M87 Bass Compressor. I have loved using this but caught the Compressor bug so now upgraded to a full rack unit. This has been the best pedal based compressor I have used, and I think I have tried them all - Diamond, MarkBass, Keeley, T-Rex, Aguilar etc etc. This seems to add a really nice "sheen" and tone to your sound which is addictive. Click here to see a full and respected review at Ovnilab. Mine has sat on a flightcased pedalboard so in very good condition but does have velcro on the bottom which can be retained or swapped for rubber feet depending on the buyer's needs. £130.00 posted mainland UK. No trades please.

You all know about these, wonderful warm industry standard pre-amp with equally wonderful and useful presets. Has mic or line level out, thru, tone options, low pass filter etc. Mine has been cherished in a flight case so is pretty much as new - no scratches, marks etc. I have fitted 4 soft feet to the bottom. Included RM1 - Rack Ears kit worth £75.00 (price at GAK) £350.00 plus £10 postage to mainland UK. ( I also have the original box it was posted in) No trades please.

I thought this really was a "keeper" but something else has come up on here that I need more, so......with great regret.....up for sale is my stunning 100% stock 1972 Fender Precision Bass, with the original case and the rare 'A' profile neck. Very light at 8.4lbs. It's in wonderful condition and looking at the condition of the frets, it seems to have hardly been played. As you'll see in the pics, it has two black marks on the body rear, which I suspect have been caused by years of storage on top of a strap or guitar lead. To me, it looks like it was bought in 1972, played for a couple of months then stored away for 42 years until last year when I bought this from Si. The neck and headstock are still that "white" blond maple colour that it looks like from new. When I first got it, it felt and looked to me like a new bass that I had just picked up from GAK! But it's a 1972 P Bass! The 'A' neck is very very comfortable. The tortoiseshell scratchplate has a real deep burgundy colour that the newer "modern" scratchplates just cannot match. A few very minor scratches and a minor blemish on the back of the neck that I have tried to capture in one of the pics. Note: A couple of pics show the Ernie Ball straplocks but so you know, the original Fender straplocks have been refitted. Given the value of this, I am wary of posting/courier but obviously up for however the buyer wants to receive this beauty. I am based in Sussex so a no obligation visit here is no problem or I can drive within reasonable distance to meet up. Or if the seller insists I can courier/post with adequate insurance. NO TRADES PLEASE - I HAVE ENOUGH BASSES HERE :0) I'll let the pictures do the talking.... (I can supply high resolution images if required)

I'm the lucky man who bought Warren's CS Pino. Warren is an absolute gent, great communication throughout the deal and a pleasure to meet face to face. Here clearly really looks after his basses too. Thank you so much Warren and yes Ill be keeping this one :0)
