Would a single external battery that replaces the external power adapter do? I've recently found the Krisdonia range of Laptop Power Bricks, I use one (The 25,000 mAh) to power my Dwarf Multi F/X unit and it works a treat (I still run my Amp off rechargable AAs)! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Krisdonia-25000mAh-Portable-Charger-Projector/dp/B078XPYH4R https://www.amazon.co.uk/Krisdonia-50000mAh-Power-Portable-Charger/dp/B077TR3H2R/ They provide selectable output voltages (5/9/12/16/20) up to 3A with various adaptor tips (as well as USB ports) You could then carry on with whichever Amp you've got. Currently messing about with this setup (The brick on the right is the 10h battery pack) The Dwarf is running a pedalboard for Bass with a Drummer in a box (I just need a small Muppets Animal Beanie to sit on top!)

They are in the HX Stomp space, but most of the hundreds of plugins are open source and its capacity to layout sophisticated pedalboards is driven by an onboard web server. For example, some pedalboards that can be configured and switched between (using a footswitch) are: It is amazing! S'manth x

A Warwick Rockboard DUO 2.0 (Which I got on here at a great price). There is a very tiny bit of overhang (2-3mm) but it is near perfect size and light! S'manth x

Weight! With a bad back I'm aiming for the lightest rig I can get! The Dual Cube LX Bass is 4.4kg, the Roland is 6.4kg. S'manth x

It's taken a while to get my 'perfect' (For now at least) rig together, but finally here it is ... this is my full, self contained bass setup (Well, less the strap! lol). Ibanez GSRM25 BOSS dual Cube Bass LX MOD Dwarf + MVave-Chocolate (MIDI FootSwitch) + SONICAKE Passive Volume Pedal Mini Expression (all of these sitting on a Rockboard DUO 2.0) + Krisdonia Laptop Power Bank BOSS Wl-20L Wireless I love 5 string but find that my fretting hand hurts when playing anything more than a shortscale, Ibby is a sub-short scale at 28.6in, sounds great and is SO light! The BOSS is a twin 5in at 10w (Tho it sounds much more) I can fill a small gig space using it, it is able to deliver for smaller outdoor venues and has stereo XLR outputs if I need more oomph. This beauty runs on 8xAA batteries! Settings can be tweaked or music streamed to it via bluetooth. It also has a USB out for recording and it only weighs 4.4kg! The MOD Dwarf is a powerhouse multi f/x unit. Hundreds of plugins including funky stuff like a powerful looper, a plethora of IR capabilities and most recently a neural modelling plugin (As popularised by Neural DSP, with their Quad Cortext) to play/capture hifi gear models. The Dwarf can also host MIDI sequencers and MIDI Synths, a band in a box as required! The MVave adds four MIDI footswitches and the Soniccake drives the MVave to provide MIDI expression/Volume control of the Dwarf. The Krisdona keeps the f/x board running for hours. I love this rig as it it very portable/light, runs for hours without the need of mains power and can produce any sound I desire. Smitten S'manth x

MOD ... We are proud to present the AIDA-X, a neural model player developed by AIDA DSP, capable of loading realistic amp (and also other gear) neural models for live playing using the Dwarf, Duo X and Duo. AIDA-X is an Amp Model Player, allowing it to load models of AI trained music gear, which you can then play through! Its main intended use is to provide high fidelity simulations of amplifiers. However, it is also possible to run entire signal... A big thank you to @madmaxwell and @spunktsch for the effort and love put into AIDA DSP. Some of you might be familiar with this technology, as it has been popularised by Neural DSP, with their Quad Cortex, as well as IK Multimedia’s ToneX. https://forum.mod.audio/t/mod-presents-the-aida-x-and-dives-into-neural-modelling/9465/2 Smanth x

Brighton Cover Project (Still in our early stages). We're Brighton based and play (yes, you guessed it) various covers from the last 50 years or so! S'manth x

I use one when setting up a bass and also to "convert" a long scale to a short scale (After fitting the capo I tune to standard BEADG) so my fretting hand can comfortably cope. S'manth x

I find picks fly out of my plucking hand in seconds... even thumb picks don't like me! S'manth

After much research, I landed on a Boss Dual Cube Bass LX (Gear4music had an nearly new at a discount which has arrived and is totally like new!) ... its' battery powered and despite the quoted figure of of 10W, it has been blowing my ears and would disturb the neighbours! had I not turned it down! Wee, light and powerful ... with some rather cool f/x to boot. S'manth x

An amazing amp that is no longer in production (goodness only knows why!) , you can read more here https://www.roland.com/uk/products/micro_cube_bass_rx/ I've one in amazing condition up for grabs ... and at a steal price wise! Includes the power supply, but she will run about 10h hours on 6 AA batteries to power your rehearsal or small gig ... no worries ...no mains power required, pop it down, plug in your bass and groove! And the onboard effects are fab! Some pix of course. It is light for a combo at only 6.8 Kg (Thats about 15 lbs in old money) She is sadly pretty much unused at present, my back disability means I now carry my Blackstar Fly 3 instead (another brilliant battery powered amp) but she looks brand new! Audition/collection from Hove (More or less Brighton) or well wrapped for delivery (currently packaged, 33cmx40cmx40cm @ 8kg) S'manth x

Has anyone experience of this wee beast? S'manth x

Nice and simple (tho the Dwarf is capable of insanely sophisticated setups) Korg (as the Dwarf tuner is sadly not that great) M-vave chocolate pedal, a cheap and cheerful add on for switches, via midi. Expression pedal (via the m-vave) for those moments. And the heart is a MOD Dwar, mind blowing ... like an HX stomp on speed, it has every effect I need (and more to boot)

Perhaps EVERYTHING!? The songs, their outfits, the amps shrouded in red shag ... I'm a middling bassist but would not have played with then! S'manth x

I'm watching the Blues Brothers (yet again) and cannot help but cringe at the poor Donald Duck Dunn having to play with Murph & then Magic Tones!!! What cringeworthy performances have you suffered!? S'manth x

Bassists who don't play their own signature basses

If I were to sign my favourite bass, could it then be classified as my signature bass? 🤣 S'manth x -
And I wonder it the strain on the neck might lead to ... something bad! S'manth x

A fantastic experience with Dunc! I spotted his offering of a Behringer XR-18 (plus accoutrements) and leapt at it. He would not accept my payment until I'd had a chance to peruse the photos he sent the next day. The gear is as he described and he even included a second wifi hub (the XR-18 internal WiFi is well know as being ... pants!). I arranged a courier (A shoutout to overlandexpress who quote from a number of delivery companies and provide additional insurance for our precious toys). Saturday evening I expressed my interest and by Tuesday morning the gear was with me, with greats communications throughout. I give a S'manth rating of 11/10 and happily deal with this great BCer again! S'manth x
