  1. Just saw this https://www.cashconverters.co.uk/shop/music-tv--video/musical-instruments/guitars--string-instruments/electric-guitar/045700029272
  2. Just saw this, if anyone's interested https://www.cashconverters.co.uk/shop/music-tv--video/musical-instruments/guitars--string-instruments/bass-guitar/030300235505
  3. The MXR M82 seems really versatile, but I never played with one. That said, on YT there are several good videos. Months ago I got this https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Eden-CaliforniWAH-Bass-Wah-Pedal-with-PSU/4UX6 And I am happy with it. It's still on sale. It seems less versatile than the MXR, but nontheless it has personality. It is dirty and squelchy if you want, but goes low as well with the right settings. 2 things about it, it wants its 15v psu (that comes with it), and the size. Everybody thinks it is big, but it is not. It's as big as a Boss pedal, but sits horizontally instead of vertically, if that makes sense.
  4. I don't have the amp, but I recently watched a video on the official page where they say only the send goes through the valve, the return doesn't
  5. To exceed the 8-10 ch, usually one wants to use analogue + adat. So, an audio interface with an A/D/A converter. Ie Clarett + Octopre
  6. Exactly. I should have said that, the mixer is fully analogue
  7. I have bass and other instruments (keyboards/synths, drum machine, fx, etc.) going to the mixer. Aux/bus go to the audio device for multitrack recordings. Several stereo outs from the audio device go back to the mixer too. This allows me to mix on the desk both "external instruments" and channels from the DAW. This way I can also use external fx, eq and other outboards on DAW outs.
  8. I was just pointing out that some audio interfaces have these capabilities. Personally I love mixers and use them, with an audio interface. But it's all about the use case. Certain scenarios don't require mixers, others don't require audio interfaces, some need both.
  9. Some interfaces have eq/comp on their ins/out
  10. yeah, I remember reading about that months ago on this thread. I just now saw the thing on BD and thought I'd share it
  11. it seems like BassDirect have the Spector Legend X in stock, for those interested EDIT: it's pre-order, available in Summer 2023
  12. Depends if the mixer has multichannel in/out via USB (ie do you also get multichannel playback from a DAW?). And if that's a requirement you have
  13. they still playing???? (I'll see myself out)
  14. It's a rare example of a six string short scale bass tuned 1 octave higher with light gauge strings on it
  15. let's spice this up then https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-lists/50-greatest-bassists-of-all-time-1003022/ this should prove that Macca is not the best!
  16. Whaaaat? Marcus Miller of course, mate! Just kidding. I think you're right, no way one can name THE universally acclaimed best bass player.
  17. I really like the way he plays bass and love his basslines. They are little compositions, not technically impossible, but hard to conceive if that makes sense. I also read somewhere that The Beatles recorded the bass almost for last. And this makes me think they considered it "another voice" part of the composition, a bit like a voice in counterpoint.
  18. Sanding them is the way to go for me. Just with moderation though How's the B string? Tight? Sonically coherent with the other strings?
  19. What bass though?
  20. I was thinking it should be relatively easy to find pre-mad ones too. But I didn't check yet though.
  21. I have to admit, 6 string basses are interesting beasts Never had or played one. I only had a cheap 5 string bass early on in my journey, but I then moved back to a 4 string again. My main concerns when I think about 5 or 6 string basses are: - how's the E string compared to a 4 string? - is the B string too different tonally? I'd be interested in hearing people's thoughts about it.
  22. One other idea popped up in my mind, I could try swapping the EQ pots with detent ones. Something like 10 detents could be nice! I wouldn't know where the flat position is, but I'll have reference points anyway.
  23. I suppose, and I might be totally wrong, because Jazz and Blues are well decoded genres with their rules and structures (to be bent as well) and that makes them good for teaching. I would like to see more courses about other genres, but I suspect that they would be mainly about learning songs rather than studying the theory behind them. Something that is quite valid, don't get me wrong, but I struggle to imagine a 12-20 lessons course on these genres that isn't mainly about learning songs. Don't wanna be that guy, but I'm pretty sure that jazz would prepare you quite well for that
  24. I personally don't know neither the guy nor his band, but it looks like he does that for living
