  1. I made one for my combo using a piece of mdf, a carpet tile and some feet cut from 4" pipe lagging from B&Q. Really makes a difference on hollow wooden stages.
  2. A lot of Merseyside musicians are in about 27 bands each, so you need to get in the clique.
  3. Whilst gathering my gear at the end of a rehearsal I heard the band name subject come up, never anything I get involved with, and I heard the suggestion 'Stone Angels'. My eyes rolled as I saw myself in a mirror and thought what planet are they on, (I am a youngish pensioner), 'Gravestone Angels' more like. Edit: Hmm... methinks that sounds good actually.
  4. A couple of weeks ago, after getting some fret buzz I found there was no relief in the neck. Over a period I have loosened the rod over half a turn, been over a week since last adjustment and I'm still waiting for some movement. I hope I am turning it the right way (anticlockwise) as it feels like the nut is getting tighter and I'm loathe to turn much more. Reminds me of when I went to put some more relief on my Thumb Bass neck and finding there was no tension on the rod. (Also after turning anticlockwise I found I was tightening it) I took it out and the neck still never moved with strings tensioned. I had to put the rod back in the opposite way and tension it to put in some relief. Won't be able to do that on the t Bird.
  5. Foam filters did nothing for me except made my ears itch. The Alpine ER17 xmas trees did not fare much better as regards sound reduction so when getting my moulded plugs I went for 25s. They cut the loud music level right down yet I can still hear speech at normal level. I wear them as player and punter. Money well spent.
  6. I think that was N.E.M.S.
  7. Not being keen on xlr speaker sockets I changed mine to a speakon, easy enough, just a little bit of filing was needed IIRC.
  8. Before Frank Hessy's in Liverpool city centre (you know, the shop made famous by the Beatles) closed down they only had Marshall and Peavey amps and Fender guitars, if you wanted anything decent you had to go out of town. No wonder they went down the pan.
  9. Are you sure? I have heard others mention transparent speakers, perhaps it has two of these.
  10. I like the La Bella M42S 40-100 that I have been using on my EB3 but have not seen any in stock anywhere for a while now.
  11. Quite uncomfortably, after I've stuffed even more gig money into the mattress.
  12. I only found out when I switched on for Coronation Street.
  13. That model is the Elite/Elitist EB3 and was made in Japan 2002-2005. https://web.archive.org/web/20160322002111/http://epiphonewiki.com:80/index.php/Elitist_Basses and I have now fitted it with a Babicz bridge. Epi also did a limited run of '60s' short scale that despite it saying Japanese market only was available from Dawsons amongst others. https://web.archive.org/web/20160321184607/http://epiphonewiki.com:80/index.php/EB-Series
  14. Andertons have this... https://www.andertons.co.uk/roksak-thunderbird-gig-bag-rsg-tb20d
  15. Can't you keep it at home.
  16. Oops... was getting a bit of buzzing on the headstock on certain notes, turned out to be a loose tuner, bit of superglue on the shaft cured it.
  17. Mine turned up half an hour ago, quick tune up and straplocks on balances nicely on a Comfort Strapp. I ordered a case with it, the headstock just about fits, which I suppose is just enough really.
  18. I have had one on order since July from Andertons, surprised I have not heard anything.
  19. La Bella Stainless Steel Roundwound M42S.
  20. Free, since hearing 'Tons Of Sobs'. Though the interest waned with the last album 'Heartbreaker' without Andy Fraser's input.
  21. Well I have reinstalled the rod the other way around, restrung and tuned then gave the truss rod a quarter turn anti-clockwise to tension it while putting a bit of forward pressure on the neck and it appears to have done the trick. I suppose it is only like using a two-way rod. I will keep an eye on it for a while to make sure I have not overdone it.
  22. My '91 Thumb Bass has always had a very low action, could be considered too low but it never gave me any problems. I never had cause to adjust anything other than the nut and the bridge when I first bought it new and set it up to suit me. Last night I did a stand in gig with a band that tuned to E flat, I did that but felt there was some slight buzzing from the lower tension strings. The neck relief appeared not to have changed so this morning I thought I would relieve a bit of tension on the truss rod. The head on the rod felt slack, could easy turn a quarter each way without feeling tight. Turning it over half a turn anti-clockwise it tightened up, turning it clockwise felt like it was just loosening it. I watched the Warwick video on replacing the truss rod and decided to remove it to inspect it. It is the one way aluminium rod. On looking at the way it worked turning it anti-clockwise tensioned the rod. So the thing is, there was originally no tension on the rod and there was very little relief on the neck with 45-105 strings on, shows how strong the neck is, but I need a bit of front bow. The question is, could I install the rod the opposite way around so tensioning it would increase the relief?
