1.
Shuker also offer complete necks from £200: http://www.shukerguitars.co.uk/services.html
Contacted Jon, swift response and really helpful. I have since got my eye on a possible ready made neck, but if that falls through Jon seems to be the best option, and so reasonable given his reputation, I expected a higher quote. What would anyone suggest the current 62RI neck would go for, in current climate?
  2. Didn't come up on my eBay search. John
  3. Thinking of replacing the neck on my 62RI P with an unlined fretless neck. Having some difficulty in finding maple boards, either necks or just fingerboard. Lots of rosewood, ebonal or ebony, but not maple. Couple of questions: -Does anyone know of any suppliers of maple boards? -How easy is it for a luthier to remove a fretted board and replace it with a fretless? Would the labour involved be just a costly as just buying & replacing a whole neck I wonder? Both would require setting up time/costs. I could get the current frets removed and replaced with dark wood inserts, but the dots would still remain...and it wouldn't be maple :-) Thanks for any help & advice John
  4. Bought an ashdown combo off Mike. Simply put, the guy is a legend! Brilliant deal, went out of his way on every level to make the deal happen.....legend!
  5.
awesome saw JB live in 1980 with Sector27 playing that rather nice fretless P at Hull Uni Students Union
He's still got an old fretless P. It's in need of some work mind, so sadly didn't get a chance to play it.
  6.
Seen this? I've played it and it's a stunning instrument. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/290360-fender-55-precision-relic-project/page__pid__3120435#entry3120435
Thanks for the heads up. :-) That's gaw-jus! Sadly I don't have the £'s difference in asking price. :-( John

It's got lots of dings and couple of holes where presumably a mahoosive bridge cover was? However plays great & sounds great. Gas now changed to unlined fretless J or P. Don't care about condition, the more "lived in" the better, as long as the neck is straight and t-rod works. I'm in Bath/Bristol and happy to meet up within reasonable distance. Thanks for looking.
  10. Looks very similar to a Maya fretless precision I recently owned. Similar machine heads, nut and neck plate stamp. However, Jon is yer man for MIJ ID. Little cracker though.
  11. Lovely condition 335 copy in Cherry red. Strung with TI flats and comes in correct shaped gig bag. Great tone from Entwhistle pups, bright snap from bridge to deep jazz from neck. Gigged once or twice in jazz trio. Details from website. http://www.tanglewoodguitars.co.uk/product/tsb-59-ch/ Levi strap in picture not included, sorry. Rather not post this, as it doesn't have a hard case. I'm in Bath and travel to Bristol for work regularly, so could easily meet up. Or prepared to drive within a reasonable distance to hand over. Thanks for looking.
  12. Mibass 550 head. Good condition, just a couple of scratches on top. Great little amp, light as a feather, but plenty of heft, grunt, punch, ooof, oh!, mmmm, etc. Here's some info from ashdown website:- http://ashdownmusic.com/products/1/Bass-Amp/18/Legacy/98/MiBass-550-/ I've gigged this in pubs, clubs, indoors and outdoors, usually with a mini 48. Flexible eq and various buttons for "dialing in" tone. I'm in Bath, but work in Bristol once a week, or can travel within reasonable distance to hand it over. Could probably post if I can access some decent packing materials. Thanks for looking.
  13.
I had the conversion done and Brook Guitars nailed it
Blimey, I thought those were position markers! :-) Lovely bass BTW, someone's getting a cracking deal.
  14.
When you say 'chops', would that include 'jowls'?
Cheeky!
  15. Terrific bass this, light and easy to play. Can't imagine how good it is now with the mods Tim's made. If I had the money this would be mine, very much regret letting this go. Also Tim is a trustworthy guy to deal with....don't let his taste in socks put you off :-) John

  18. In London for the day, had a quick visit. Very welcoming guys, tried out unlined f.less stingray and they had time for a chat. First Class! And a great selection of basses & uprights.
