Mighty mite neck, came attached to a Mighty mite P bass body that I was after, nice snug fit. It's hardly been used, zero fret wear. The owner I bought from said he played the bass 2-3 times after getting the bass put together, and it shows, very clean. Pencil mark dates it to 04 It feels very narrow for a p at the nut, but will measure when I get home for those that need the info. Bought this for the unlined fretless neck that came with it. It's a Jazz bass body (apparently a squier, but no markings to indicate what make). No pickups, but wired controls, neck plate, pickguard and bridge all present. As you can see whatever original finish that was on it has been sanded off, but the scratch, neck and control plates and bridge were left on during the sanding process, leaving some kind of light green/turquoise paint under them. Pictures with and without bits, not screwed in, so bridge looks out of line. Ste bought a P bass off me. Great communication throughout and paid exactly when he said he would. Didn't stress when I told him the wrong day of delivery.:-) Nice guy to deal with. John

Did a gig for Royal engineer officers couple of years back in a marquee. They gave us a trail of linked extension leads going to one socket in the kitchen. This was feeding a 4 piece band, disco & massive drinks fridge. Electrics went the moment we switched on our gear. As the Sargent liaising with us said "you would have got a generator if this had been a sappers party, but the "Rupert's" haven't a clue. No help with OPs question, but it always tickles me thinking about it.

Sourcing an unlined Maple neck or fingerboard
Shuker also offer complete necks from £200: http://www.shukerguitars.co.uk/services.html
Contacted Jon, swift response and really helpful. I have since got my eye on a possible ready made neck, but if that falls through Jon seems to be the best option, and so reasonable given his reputation, I expected a higher quote. What would anyone suggest the current 62RI neck would go for, in current climate? -

Thinking of replacing the neck on my 62RI P with an unlined fretless neck. Having some difficulty in finding maple boards, either necks or just fingerboard. Lots of rosewood, ebonal or ebony, but not maple. Couple of questions: -Does anyone know of any suppliers of maple boards? -How easy is it for a luthier to remove a fretted board and replace it with a fretless? Would the labour involved be just a costly as just buying & replacing a whole neck I wonder? Both would require setting up time/costs. I could get the current frets removed and replaced with dark wood inserts, but the dots would still remain...and it wouldn't be maple :-) Thanks for any help & advice John
awesome saw JB live in 1980 with Sector27 playing that rather nice fretless P at Hull Uni Students Union
He's still got an old fretless P. It's in need of some work mind, so sadly didn't get a chance to play it.

It's got lots of dings and couple of holes where presumably a mahoosive bridge cover was? However plays great & sounds great. Gas now changed to unlined fretless J or P. Don't care about condition, the more "lived in" the better, as long as the neck is straight and t-rod works. I'm in Bath/Bristol and happy to meet up within reasonable distance. Thanks for looking.
