1. Band I was in were on music TV show with southside Jonny & asbury jukes, bangles and a local band. Bangles weren't allowed to mix with the rest of the acts (despite our best efforts) but SJ&AJ were a brilliant laugh. They were one of my favorite bands and were happy to share stories and a drink or 3 with us unknown punk types. Anyway when it came to filming our slot, I noticed on the TV monitor that the brass guys appeared on the screen miming the brass parts on our song each time the brass "stabs" came up (we didn't have brass players in the band). Apparently after I'd disclosed how much of a fan I was, they'd had a word with the director and asked him to include them in the filming. I was soooo chuffed! Nice touch I thought.
2. Black leather strap. Reversable pattern snake skin one side paisley embossed the other. It's been used once but I prefer a softer wider strap and I've got more than I need. £5 posted.
3. Unknown make of Telecaster guitar. Bought it after playing it in a shop years ago. Took it home put decent set of strings on put it in sons room and forgot all about it. So it's not been played outside of house. Slab body, not string through. Does the Tele thing well. Might suit some mods (or rockers) or something to noodle on. It's heavy, but don't know what wood it's made of. £50 collected from Bath. Or I could post it, but only with neck off as I don't have a case or bag for it. Probably £20 p&p as I'll need to buy bubble wrap and tape.
4. Not sure of make or gauge, or if nickel or steel...... Probably Rotos by looks of red threads? But they are not flats... Anyway, used set which had plenty of life in them when I restrung my old Hohner B6 with nickels. Be good for spares. £8 posted.
5. 2 used sets bass vi strings. Plenty life in them. Rotosound custom gauge (24, 30, 38, 47, 78, 100) Fender set (24,34, 44, 56, 72, 84) I prefer the la Bella flats on my vi, so these are available. Sold together, great if you fancy trying some differing gauges or mixing them up to find what you like. But also handy for spares. The Rotos' are a custom set, so not available retail. £20 for the 2 sets posted.
6.
£500? Anyone?
I've owned 2 B4s from same period. Incredibly flexible preamp, excellent Japanese build and an ebony board that your fingers glide over. I had to sell at a time of severe financial pressure. Really miss mine. I think they suffer from not having a known name on the headstock. If I compare what other basses go for on here, I would say it's worth every penny of original asking price. Latest asking price is daft. GLWS
7.
To mime to night fever effectively A..... dont look where your pointing B......put strings on the bass great photo
:-)
8. Nells Jazz & Blues bar week before Christmas. These days I keep a chiropractor next to the stage to help me back up. Sorry the bass isn't as clear in the pic. Its a 1979 Kramer 450 and is so heavy, the chiropractor is required after each gig anyway :-)
9. Been very impressed each time I've played one of these. Yours is a great looker too! GLWS
10. Yup, other instruments definitely open up your musical horizons. or.......Bass vi...... ;-)
11. Hey Frannie, whereabouts in Dorset are you? Interested in Shuttle.
12. May I suggest trying a squier bass vi? I think you'd find it a lot of fun. I love mine.
13.
What a lovely thing to add to a thread that is clearly a minor homage to her talent. I loved it.
To be fair, the poster might have been referring to himself, given the use of the hyphen. I'm sure there's no-one shallow enough on here to allow their prejudice views of addicts to influence their musical tastes. I enjoy her singing, and her take on covers. These Beatles covers being no exception. Thanks for sharing it. :-)
14. Another satisfied bassdirect customer. Emailed BD Sunday afternoon to check stock of some strings (which were £14 cheaper than anywhere else in the uk!). Not expecting a reply until Monday sometime. Mark got back to me that afternoon, strings arrived this morning. I've bought a 5 string Warwick and a genz combo over the past few years. And it's the same excellent service no matter what you spend. John

16. Just completed a trade with James, easy deal, good guy to deal with.....fellow GAS sufferer. Thanks. John
17. Tentative bump. Very well made guitar, enjoying playing it, but think I'm too traditional. P or J types, maybe squier vi.in trade. Or cash offer.
18. Cheers fellas! Jim, what's your view of the bass vi as a bass in itself?
19. TRADED Hohner 6 string bass. Excellent condition. Neck through, active/passive. Very low action. These basses are very well made and worth more than current market value imho. Got major gas for a more traditional bass, or a bass vi. Freshly strung with nickel wounds, comes with spare used set. Will throw in new leather strap. Case not included. Only after trades at this stage for 4 string Precision or Jazz bass of a Fender style. Or a squier vi. I'm in Bath, but would be prepared to meet up at a reasonable distance for the right deal.
20. Bowie....dividing opion, illiciting strong(ish) feelings both ways....and most importantly, people are talking about him. Back to his best.
21.
Bowie's in space....
"Watcha doin out there man?..."
22. Level 42, Hammersmith Odeon, sometime in the 1980's is the only gig I've ever walked out of. Terrific musicians, but dull songs, dull performance, all sounded the same to me. I lasted 4 tunes in. ....there, I've said it.
