1. Depends on what you qualify as a "masterclass" surely? If I wanted to know how to play a particular bass line, or study a particular technique, I'd save myself a shed load of money and go onto youtube and take my time watching the variety of technically proficient musicians demonstrating said techniques/tunes. I might even invest a bit of money in lessons, 1:1 with a tutor and learn/study a technique, etc. I'd want something different from a "masterclass" at a trade show. It's an opportunity to ask said musician questions on different things like, how they achieve a particular tone, what studio equipment did they use on a particular track, what is the musical relationship like with the drummer for instance. Or how did they write a particular bass part and many more similar non technique questions. Personally I'm not a fan of N.O. or that genre, but I think there's enough Hooky fans to warrant him giving a Masterclass. Stop with the "only the pyrotechnically gifted are worthy" none sense, please!
2.
Some lucky devil bagged this.....
And he'll be whipping dem frets out as soon as it lands! ;-) Very tempted by your 5 string and do the same Keith.
3.
It's neither, nice looking bass though and for £60 if it's your bag it's a steel...have a bump on me
In the absence of pictures or model details, can you give an idea of which SX model it is? Be nice at least to get some spec of t'web. Thanks.
4. I sometimes like to watch....... .....stuff on eBay as I might not have the money at that point, so spend a day or two scampering around to see if I can raise the required amount. It saves me doing another search.
5.
If this was bought from Musical Express it is is the one you sold me John. Very nice bass but I wasn't playing it and it was too nice to sit around a work for lunch breaks. Congratulations on your new bass Pete, it certainly is a thing of beauty.
LOL! You're right Ed, it needs to be played in anger.
6.
No, worries. Deleted! Alex
That's a shame Alex. Did you not have a price in mind? That Esh looked very nice! All the best with the sale anyway.
7.
Hi, Thanks for info..............I bought it as a second bass to my American jazz, but now I feel as thought the Jazz is going to take a back seat ! Any info regarding the headstock shape, this one has the fender shape, but from bits of info that I have gained, it was stopped by Fender ? Pete
Yeah Pete, fender took exception to the headstock, so the later Blades have a slightly different headstock shape. The last one I owned had Ernie Ball cobalt strings on. Really seemed to suit the ebony board and really showed off the preamp. Enjoy!
8. I've owned 2. They are fab basses, high quality Japanese build, excellent components and the best necks, with beautiful ebony boards. The tonal options with the trim pots are far ranging. They are seriously underrated (unknown) and underpriced IMHO. If they had a passive option on the preamp and were a little lighter, I'd still have them. Good purchase! Also Gary Levinson is really helpful if you want any info on your bass.
9. This has all gone...nothing to see here, move along now please. Black (ratted) P body, ply...very heavy. £30 posted P pups with wiring. 500 k pots, cloth & plastic wiring. Comes with speed dials. £10 posted
10. Hi Daz, What are the specs on these (ohms, power handling) and where are you? Cheers, OS.
11.
let me know if you decide you need a fretless J after all
PM'd fellow Dorseteer. Back on track bump
12. Harry bought a bass from me. Fast payment and great communication. Deal with confidence! Thanks, John
13. This needs to be a sticky, "... That's the key when you're touring; just be a nice chap and have a good vibe about you. That's the way to get work. If you're a superb player, but a pain in the ***, you'll never get asked. The world is full of phenomenal musicians who are so up themselves that they are really difficult to be around. Being on the road with difficult people is really draining."
14.
After a serious back injury 5 yrs ago anything in the region of 10lbs hurts me for any length of time, therefore SR5's arent usually on my radar...but this is such a good deal and I have been looking for a 5 string fretless. Might have to really think about this.
Certainly feels a lot lighter than my Blade B4 and Ibby Musician that I recently had.
15. In reply to a couple of questions. The neck is 42mm at the nut and 60mm at the heel.
16.
Seriously tempted. Great price for a top drawer 5 fretless. What weight does it tip the scales at?
Not weighed it, but I'd say at little under the 10lb mark.
17.
Superb bass & the price is frankly nuts! This won't last long.
Just passing on the love....:-)
18. Unknown make, but headstock wood finish looks like an old Kay? Anyway, its a fully functioning P bass. I don't know what the pups are, but they sound very nice, the tone pot has a good range to it too. The bridge is very substantial, not a flimsy bbot. The body is ply wood, and has been "ratted" so is a nice Matt black. It's very heavy and has the truss rod access at the neck end. The neck has no nasty edges, but the laquer is flaking off in places. However, I've never felt it under my fingers, so has not affected the playability. I don't have a scratchplate for it as the old one was cracked and fell apart when I was setting this up a while ago. I'm prepared to part the neck and body separately, if there's interest. Body loaded £40 Neck loaded £25 Together £60 Plus postage on all.
19. 1989 Stingray fretless 5 string in honeyburst. Pau ferro board on a very pretty maple figured neck. Strung with new flatwounds and fitted some straplocks recently. Comes in hard shell case (not MM). Lovely bass, very good condition, albeit a tiny scratch on tip of headstock. Really don't play electric bass much these days, just concentrating on songwriting, so this is the last of my "nice" basses to go. Here's some pics taken in poor lighting. These prices are firm, no offers please, (unless you want to pay more of course.) PayPal if you pay fees, or cash. As I said I don't play bass much, but am keeping a P bass for recording...however I could be persuaded to trade for a 6 string guitar (semi-hollow?) or another fretless plus cash, but the likelyhood is it won't get played anyway, but try me. Could deliver/meet up as far as Basingstoke, Bournemouth, Bristol, Exeter for petrol costs. Happy new year...
20. Hi, Interested in the P, if you could post? I'll PM you. Thanks, John
