2. Aren't JV squires quite sought after, blimey someone could get a bargain?
  3.
'Nard gets one of the best sounds from a bass...
Nuff said! :-)
  4.
funnily enough I've been recording Jo Burt for a couple of weeks, he lives in Sherborne, myself and Andy Treacey (fab drummer) are producing and playing on an EP of Jo's material, he gigs in the area, a very distinguished bass player himself he has toured with some top acts like the Troggs, Sabbath and Tom Robinson to name a few. I will mention to him that you're in the area, he now plays guitar and sings his own songs, some damn fine material too..!
Just did a video shoot with Jo, nice guy. He does some local gigs Keith and is very approachable.
  5.
Up to late nineties, affinities were full thickness bodies, string through, solid alder. The the big but with this one is that the traditional fender bridge is shorter than the squier ones. To retrofit a traditional plate you will leave three screw holes from the squier bridge that need to be plugged with dowels. Can't see that from these pics. In addition, the truss rod access is unfinished on an affinity but this one looks painted. Bit of a mystery body but if it sounds fine, who cares ?
Thanks for that info Gilby. A mystery indeed. But it does sound lovely. John
  6. Hi, I'm not sure the exact model. But I'm pretty sure it's not an affinity as its string through body. But am happy to be corrected. John
  7. This is madness! The Swiss Army knife of basses for £500, with money back guarantee!!
  8. It was ok, we'll played. Liked the bass line. Having read some of the posts in the thread about cover bands..... Some seem to think that anything other than note for note is sacrilege, others like to "cover" a song in their own style. Personally, I'd have been disappointed if Mr. Wooten had recorded something similar to the original. He quite likes a bit of Beatles doesn't he?!

    SOLD

That sir is a proper bass! Absolutely gawjuss...
  11. If someone would buy my status 6 string I'd have this. Very much miss the Lakland Duck Dunn I had. They make superb necks. Oh we'll, at this price it'll be gone. I'd wish you best of luck with the sale, but you won't need it Karl. John
  12.
I've also got my MIA Fender Jazz up for sale.
WHERE??........ (You did say any questions plz shout) I'm after a USA jazz, so anymore details Derek would be appreciated. John
  13. I have tried a couple of ERB's recently, to see if they're for me. But alas I've come to the conclusion that I've neither the time or inclination to get stuck in to the Stick or 6 string basses I've bought. What's more all the bands I play in are with old people like me, and their pacemakers need restarting everytime I turn up with anything other than a P. And I'm playing a lot more ....guitar....recently too. So, this Status Energy is up for trade or straight sale. Here's Ash's original thread (hope that's ok Ash?) until I get some pics myself, but its in exactly same condition and has a brand new set of Super Slinky's on it and set up a little lower. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/184279-status-energy-6-string-bass-for-sale-again/page__hl__status The neck profile on this is my favourite, like the Groove basses, flat and easily accessible. It's not heavy either, but then again my go to bass is an old Blade B4 and that IS heavy! Trade options Passive P, J or P/J 4 string bass...(prefer black/maple) with added pennies for the right one. Nice acoustic 6 string. Maybe a bass combo? To conform to rules...trade value £330-350, but don't let that stop you from offering something more valuable....I may have some pennies under the mattress. Or offer something less financially valuable and give me some shillings? I'm in North Dorset, but am near to A303, so the M3 corridor is accessible if you want to meet up, or come and have a noodle. Can easily get to Bournemouth, Bristol, Exeter, Basingstoke areas. Thanks for looking.
  14.
Would it have been cooler to have ignored the photographer?
Who cares, at least you look like you're enjoying yourself :-)
  15. Still from video shoot on Saturday. It was really cold by late afternoon and wish I'd worn a jacket.
  16.
I've got a Hindersine bag
Same here, excellent value.
  17.
Nice bass - looks German or eastern European to me 50's to 70's I reckon. Finish looks like cuprinol fence preserver no.4 "walnut dream" so will be ideal for outdoor gigs
Lol..! Cheers Bob....perhaps it was used to escape a flood then? :-) The previous owner reckoned it had been dragged around the west end club scene during the 60's, so a 50's date might not be too far off.
