1. Hi bluejay. We are looking at a choice of venues at the moment and will let people know ASAP. It will be in the Sherborne, or Shaftesbury area.
2. It's probably the right decision Chris......., especially at that price. All the best gear seems to be in the south east at the mo' John
3. That's very nice,......... black with maple, ...P/J config, what more do you need?....I'm sure you'll think of something..;-) Simply gawjus!
4.
Might be able to make it again to this one. All good stuff last time, even the bagpipe jazz bit. If anyone can offer a lift from Salisbury then all the better.
Be great to see you there Jon. Bring your PJ stuff, once someone's heard it they'll have it off you!
5.
Is it worth if ppl are bringing stuff to say what there bringing or not?
Up to you really. It can be quite interesting to see what will be on display. These events can be a useful place to bring stuff you're looking to sell too, as people have the chance to try it out, negotiate face to face, and take it away. So bring your cash too folks, you could go home with more than you came with, (best bring some "smuggling/cloaking devices" with you for unloading the other end).
6. Again, thanks for the info Chris. I'll have think. I do wonder if I'm after the impossible. The nearest I had was an LMII and Epifani 1x12.....which, of course, I sold. Did the DB, open and airy when needed but deep and rocky when called upon......GAS..sigh!
7. Bump for sale now or trade for P or J passive bass Small amp/rig/combo Acoustic 6 string Or £450 ono.
8. Sorry for dumb question Chris, but what's the power rating on the combo alone, then with the ext. It's probably in the thread, or previous thread, but my eyes aren't seeing it. I've tried a google search and all that comes up are yours and Clarky's exchange threads!! :-) I'm wondering if this would work as a DB, electric bass and acoustic guitar "all in one set up"....?? I'm playing less electric bass these days, and more acoustic guitar and DB....sooooo....a one amp solution?? Might be up for a trip onto the M25. John

11.
'Nard gets one of the best sounds from a bass...
Nuff said! :-)
12.
funnily enough I've been recording Jo Burt for a couple of weeks, he lives in Sherborne, myself and Andy Treacey (fab drummer) are producing and playing on an EP of Jo's material, he gigs in the area, a very distinguished bass player himself he has toured with some top acts like the Troggs, Sabbath and Tom Robinson to name a few. I will mention to him that you're in the area, he now plays guitar and sings his own songs, some damn fine material too..!
Just did a video shoot with Jo, nice guy. He does some local gigs Keith and is very approachable.
13.
Up to late nineties, affinities were full thickness bodies, string through, solid alder. The the big but with this one is that the traditional fender bridge is shorter than the squier ones. To retrofit a traditional plate you will leave three screw holes from the squier bridge that need to be plugged with dowels. Can't see that from these pics. In addition, the truss rod access is unfinished on an affinity but this one looks painted. Bit of a mystery body but if it sounds fine, who cares ?
Thanks for that info Gilby. A mystery indeed. But it does sound lovely. John
14. Hi, I'm not sure the exact model. But I'm pretty sure it's not an affinity as its string through body. But am happy to be corrected. John
15. This is madness! The Swiss Army knife of basses for £500, with money back guarantee!!
16. It was ok, we'll played. Liked the bass line. Having read some of the posts in the thread about cover bands..... Some seem to think that anything other than note for note is sacrilege, others like to "cover" a song in their own style. Personally, I'd have been disappointed if Mr. Wooten had recorded something similar to the original. He quite likes a bit of Beatles doesn't he?!
