1. Includes case too. Seems a good price.
2. Blimey, that's a good price. I miss mine. Steff, do they have covers? if there's no sale in a week or so, I'll be in touch. John
3. Stardust, Hoagy Carmichael. I always end up smooching with my bass during this one. :-)
4. Did a trade with Mike. Great guy to deal with, painless transaction,... for me anyway! Thanks again Mike, John
5.
I have had these excuses... "I really fancy a curry this week...shall we all do that instead?" I WANT TO BE IN A BAND WITH THAT PERSON "I don't have any drum sticks." FAR MORE CONSTRUCTIVE REHEARSAL WAS HAD BY WHOLE BAND? "I ran out of weed and I had to sell my guitar." HOW MUCH WEED DO THEY SMOKE?
6. If you use 2 fingers and scroll down, you'll find "use full editor" press that button and the message will become full screen, as normal, and you can then compose a message. John
7. Unlined fretless only mate, otherwise it's cheating apparently.
8. Sometimes it's nobodies "fault" that lessons don't work out. I've picked up business from perfectly good tutors, due to all sorts of reasons, some of which will include "personality", or communication style, etc. I have also "lost" business to others for the same reasons. Some tutors are "rigid" and systematic in their approach, others are less so, some students respond to structure, others don't. I believe the trick is to listen to the student and ask questions, until you are satisfied that you have some grasp of their wants and needs and learning style. The students responsibility is to communicate what they want from lessons (even if that means something vague like "I don't know, I'm just bored with what I do"). It's also a students responsibility to ask questions throughout a lesson, particularly if they don't understand what you're trying to communicate. If the tutor in question didn't ask you any questions and just played his bass AT you, then criticised your playing, then that's pretty unhelpful to you. If you didn't ask him any questions to clarify, or didn't challenge him, then that's unhelpful to him and you. Beware of the tutor that: - Doesn't listen to you. Doesn't ask questions. Noodles on their guitar whilst your talking. Shows off their chops to impress you. Talks about themselves endlessly. Gets arsey if you don't understand what they are trying to communicate. Doesn't challenge you once in a while (in a way that doesn't belittle you). Is not actively looking to improve their own musicianship. Is on the SOR! One last thing, you're not only investing in the 30-60 minutes you spend in the lesson, it's the days in between that are just as important. It's boring to say but, it's a waste of your money if you don't practice what you've been set. And that doesn't mean a 2 hour "cram" the night before. It also becomes very boring for you and the tutor if you're going over the same thing in a lesson week after week because you haven't bothered to practice in between. None of the above is aimed at the OP, just a general brain fart. And lots more stuff that people have already said an will say.. Probably all b@*#s, but it's helped me. And I'm sure Dood is the dude as he has a good rep here, enjoy! Bye, off to school now.
9. Oh Lordy that is just beautiful........but my back and little Citroen Saxo are crying just looking at those pics.
10. Another satisfied customer here. P/J harness received, in bomb proof packing and with idiot proof instructions. Fab job sir! John
11. Oh sorry Paul, I did chuck it on the bathroom scales and the led screen was broken! So I'm still none the wiser, sorry. I think this has sold anyhoo, just trying to work out logistics. I'll update thread when things are clearer. John
12.
Tru dat, but you didn't tell us if it's snowing or not in Leicestershire.
Yes, come on.. stick to the important stuff....well is it? :-/
13. Not suggesting that a drummer with a huge kit can't be good mind. But you have to be good to "work" a small kit. I couldn't possibly use the same adage about us bass players of course....;-)
14. You can always tell how good a drummer is by the number of drums in their kit..... That fella was super.......oooh it's snowing.
15. How funny! Last night I tried my Baja Tele through my LMII and mini 48 cab and loved it. I was going to post a new topic.....but... The tone shaping needed a bit of tweaking, but it gave the Tele some lovely rich tones, great for jazz melodies and funk/soul rhythm playing. Seriously would gig this set up.
16.
I'm supposed to be selling basses off but. . . . . . I have been staring at this too long. My passive ones are great, never tried the active - now is the time. I'll have it, if it's not gone. Cheers.
Replied to PM
17.
Would be nice to add another to my current arsenal of 10 Aria basses! Very impressive bass that!
11 would be so much more rock'n'roll than 10 ;-)
18.
I did John. Loads of great offers, probably going for a nice fiver!!
Cost you more than a fiver! :-)
19.
Like so many of the mid range Aria basses of the time, these Laser Classic and Heritage models certainly punch above their weight. Other than what's been mentioned above, this one has had one of the battery clips replaced, but is otherwise all original. Pity the balance doesn't suit you, Slapper.
I know Noel. I've tried 3 spectors, love their sound too, but that 1st fret seems so far away....bizarre given that I'm 6'4" and have long arms. I thought I'd give a longer neck one more try. Like I said, the pups and Pre amp are monsters...I'd half thought of keeping it for a punk/pop gig I play over the summer festival season, as the P tone is huge. But you gotta be comfy... Paul, I'll give her a bathroom scales weigh-in later. John
20. Made in Japan Aria Pro II Laser Electric Classic, 4-string, 34" (860mm) scale length, 40mm nut width, 18mm pitch. Alder body, with three-piece, bolt-on maple neck, and rosewood touchboard, with graphite nut. MB-III (P-style) and MB-JI (J-style) pickups, with volume control, tone control, three position selector switch, and phase reverse mini toggle switch. Diecast, chromed bridge and mini, enclosed tuners. Bought this very recently from the man who knows his Japanese guitars Mr noelk27. The pickups and 18v Pre amp are very lively and has a huge output with a wide tonal pallet. So, why sell? It's the position of the upper horn strap button in relation to the neck that makes the bass uncomfortable for me. I prefer the strap button to be over the 11/12th fret and this hangs behind the 13th. Silly though it may sound, but it's the reason why I can't get on with Spector basses. I love the sound, but the end of the neck is a little long. I've played this every day, at home, since getting it but it's in great condition, except for a nick on the edge of the bottom of the guitar. The P bass pup on this Laser is the most aggressive I've played, if I was happy to ruin a this classic bass I'd rip the pups and Pre out of it and put them in my Ibby. It has an ungigged set of bass boomers on. Or happy to meet up within 1 hours drive from North Dorset for the same. John
