SOLD, GONE, SOLD, STOP LOOKING...GO AWAY... Celestion Orange Neo loaded Mini cab. Structurally sound, but has some scuffs and marks on the tolex. Surprisingly clear for a 1x15. Very light now with the change of driver. Changing cabs and hopefully winding down on live work by autumn, so this won't be used. 8ohm, now 400 watt. P-bass Pickguard - does this work for you?
oldslapper replied to KiOgon's topic in General Discussion
Can't help but think, "wedding" when I look at that Jon..... I'd even be happy playing "love lift us up" as a first dance on it, .........but then have to change basses for "take your daughter to the slaughter" as I'd feel I'd be violating it somehow. ;-) John -
Oooh, that grimacing bass player! Concentrating hard on the 3 notes he played, or was it 4. Balcro.
Hadn't appreciated there was a minimum note quota, that's my career over with then. Personally I thought what the bass player played was pretty perfect, he appeared to be enjoying the overall groove too. But as you said, "one mans meat, etc."

What is wrong with modern bassists?
oldslapper replied to achknalligewelt's topic in General Discussion
Actually wanted to say....well done to blackmn90 for standing your ground and handling the Nige onslaught well. He's a formidable old (but incredibly young looking...obvious now) sod and is passionate about his passion for passionate passionnn...nnnn.. Anyway, thought that was a good old debate that ended well....until I posted this crap of course. John -
So really, the competency of the bassist (and all musicians) is also about playing what is right for the band setup/specific song.
Well said sir! Sadly, it would appear that competency is often measured by complexity. I guess some people are mesmerised by the "pretty lights..oooooh". I read posts on these topics and think some people wouldn't be satisfied unless Alex James did two hand tap arpeggios throughout "Park Life"......cue the "he couldn't if he tried" jibes. Sadly I've never met him, or heard him play in private, so I don't know whether he could or not. -
One hell of a party. Don't remember much though........
Got through loads of pizza, Doritos and mars bars too!

Ok, so the tech put some 250k pots in, and everything works as it should. Battery disconnected, no sound, so pups defo active. Make of this what you will. But, one things for sure, I should have taken the advice of the gentleman of this parish who queried my choice of pot value. But that's 25k pot up in smoke. :-)
There are also known issues using dual volume controls (which I am assuming is the case here as it's a PJB) instead of a single master volume - it has been reported that some EMG users are finding the signal still bleeds through when the pot is set to 'off'...

The picture shows an active EMG therefore 25K pots are appropriate. Not 250K or 500K.
Thanks gentlemen, that's helpful. :-) Perhaps using a balance pot would be an option then.
