James Taylor.. shower the people you love with love..
oldslapper replied to bubinga5's topic in General Discussion
Ugh, pure cheese. I don't get the James Taylor thing. Americans love that brand of mush. Makes for a very dull song, IMO
I don't think this was supposed to be a critique of the song, genre, artist....... To the OP, yup music is great for reflecting, or changing how we feel. Mr Taylor writes a good lyric too. -
Have you tried to "scroll down" using 2 fingers on the message box which, as you rightly say, is hidden at the top left of the screen. Scrolling down reveals the "send a message" button. Then it opens up onto the whole screen.
If i did get a 4x8 and a 1x15 mini could i link these together to get the 4ohm power out of the amp? Thanks
Yes.

Welcome back to bass! You might find it possible to get a used 1x12 aguillar, or Epifani PS cab for £200 on here, but unlikely to find a bergantino. I've used Epifani, Ampeg, Ashdown, BFM and Markbass cabs with my LMII heads. I can honestly say that with the amount of tonal/eq flexibility the LM offers, I've found it impossible not to get a tone I like with any cab, but then again my ears aren't as sensitive as they were. At the moment I'm enjoying an LMII with a pair of Ashdown mini cabs (4x8 and 1x15). You can pick one of those up on here for under £200, or for not much more, a pair. Don't where you are located, but you might find a fellow BC member or two will let you try your head with a different cab or two? Certainly welcome to have a blast at castle oldslapoer. John

Line 6 Pocket Pod, owned from new. Used at home for some guitar teaching only. I don't have a PSU to go with it as I used one from another pedal. It runs perfectly well on batteries. I don't know if I've still got the box, so sold as the unit only. If I find the box, I'll include it. Pics up later. This is what they are, in the mean time. http://www.dv247.com/guitars/line-6-pocket-pod-guitar-amp-and-fx-simulator--43352 John
Is that and/or? It'd be the Shergold every time for me!
I decided to take the Shergold Stu.
Is it wrong that I actually quite like it?
You'd have to change the piping on those cabs again! ;-) -
John, Hi. It's a Kay. I had two of them, at one time - surprisingly good. Can suffer from Bridge "Bottom out" - mine didn't. Cheers.
Thanks Eric, The headstock made me think that might have been the case. Because of the wood colouring. Were they MIJ? I have my eye on this and a mates Shergold marathon for £50 more. John

http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/bass-guitar-late-1970s-ibanez-aria-tokai-type-quality/93987248#gallery-item-full-4 Any thoughts? Guy has been very helpful in answering questions, but he can't verify the make or that it is definitely MIJ. Looks solid enough, passive with brass nut and bridge. Can anyone ID it? Cheers, John
I am starting to think the naysayers have an image in their heads of what it must be like to actually play in a band?
There! Fixed it for you Nigel

A sub section for some who would like to talk about guitar, with other members on a forum they like the vibe of? Some people are threatened by the smallest of things......

Yup, that's 3 transactions in 6 weeks with Nick! Each one easy and smooth, kind enough to pay well in advance for the Jazz bass and put up with my useless time keeping. Thanks Nick, top man. John

2 days to learn 25 songs - any tips?
oldslapper replied to Davo-London's topic in General Discussion
Oooh just seen this. Do you know the bass player, or can you contact him? He might have charts, or at least give you heads up on important things to be aware of? He of course might be a knob and feel threatened by you depping for him, in which case, forgot this route as you may end up with the wrong keys, tempos and being told that the band love it if you "slap" all the way through every song. -

Been shafted on eBay by some git who has now closed his eBay account after being rumbled. I have started the dispute/resolution process with eBay and paypal, but this takes time apparently. In the mean time I have to raise funds to pay for stuff I have committed to, so this is up for sale. I will take some detailed pictures in the day light tomorrow. In the meantime this is the original sales thread, OHM hope you don't mind? http://basschat.co.uk/topic/159117-sold-pending-2009-fender-usa-jazz-bass-in-stunning-sunburstrosewood-and-tortoise-shell-l600/page__p__1425927__hl__jazz__fromsearch__1#entry1425927 It's in exactly the same condition as when I got it. It's been gigged once and recorded with once. Otherwise not been out of the house. Couple of small nicks in the laquer and on top of headstock. £550 collected, or meet up near north Dorset, or same & pp @ £18. Please be aware this doesn't have a case, but would be wrapped up in true oldslapoer style, snug and warm. Thanks, John
. When the students found out half of them came to me asking for private lessons outside of the shop as they really wanted to keep me as their teacher. But the shop manager put a stop to that too accusing me of stealing all his clients.
I'm surprised at this Chlo, it's none of his business where people have lessons, unless they had signed a lifetime contract with his shop for exclusivity. Sounds like he bullied students into not following you. Personally I agree, most students love the fact that their teacher is a working musician. Which gets me back on topic. I'm now a peripatetic music teacher in 5 schools and have private students at home, it was the only way I could see that would give me the control over my time to play/gig. It did mean leaving the "security" of employment with pensions, sick pay, paid hols, etc...but looks like that's being errooooooded away now anyway.
