1. .........it's all just entertainment FGS. Kate Bush had an image which added some intrigue, which helped sales. Nina simone had an image which added........................ Jessie J has an............................................... Lady G has................... Madonna................... They all have varying levels of musical talent...But all had/have talent to entertain, and all will have worked with some fab bass players. Why do some people get so upset about other people's success?.....soooooo British.
2.
It would be a different flavour.
Absolutely, I'd love to try one out. Unfortunately we live in the middle of nowhere so no NS dealers for miles. Be interested in seeing if anyone here ends up with one, and posting some samples. Love the look of that DB in your avatar btw :-)
3.
It seems that the only real difference between the fretted version of this instrument and an electric bass is the fact that the fingerboard is rounded enough to bow. It'll be a different instrument altogether, and only you can decide whether it's gonna be a voice you can use. Hey, it might be great!
That's more like it......I would approach it as an instrument in it's own right, as BK has said. I love the idea of different approaches to instrument design and playing. If you are thinking that it would have a "traditional" double bass, eub tone, then I'd very much doubt it, too much metal... If you are thinking that it's a way of achieving accurate intonation, with an upright tone, then I'd get one of the NS range as I believe they have position markers up the neck. I saw a brilliant player the other night, he had stickers on the front of his DB board as positional markers, fab player, nice tone too...used a PJB combo, couldn't see the pickup though.
4. Paul's a top bloke, played with some great artists, great teacher too.
5. Gordon Haskell......"made it" in 2001 at the age of 54, if you call a number 2 single, sales of nearly half a million, and album at number 2 "making it". No manipulation, just a bit of luck and a good tune.
6. Nope can't open them, it says they are protected by the owner.
7. Steve sold me a Sunn strat. Brilliantly packed, all as described, many thanks, John
8. Bought a lovely Lakland Duck Dunn from Dave, did me a great deal and suggested a great place to meet, Top man. Many thanks, John
9. Chris are you able to post it? John

11. Thanks Andy, but really after something bit more basic/traditional. Beat up old P or a J, will do me, not bothered about looks.
12. I've spent nearly £100 on this since getting it (new Ernie ball flats, set up, new switchcraft socket fitted). Just giving up on 5 strings. £550 sale.
13. Thanks. Very tempted by yours, looks in excellent nick. Thinking whether I could drop a P retro in there, or an S1....
14. Probably will regret this but 5 strings always end up annoying me, rehearsed and gigged with this but I just prefer a 4 string. This is a USA G&L 5 string, single pickup, with series parallel switch, active passive switch. Bass and treble work in passive as well as active mode (very handy). Huge & flexible sound. String through body, black and rosewood board. Great condition, one small ding on top of body which is hardy noticeable and one small one at top of headstock shown in pictures. Comes in G&L hard case, strung with Ernie Ball flats currently, has had a new switchcraft jack socket fitted. This is the link for specs http://www.glguitars...L1505/index.asp Here's mine. Levinson Blade B4 G&L L1500 USA P USA Jazz P bass special Or similar basses. Nothing flash, or fancy woods 4 strings only plz I'm in north Dorset and am happy to meet up an hours drive from me for a swap. Thanks, John
15. Does this have an S1 switch on the volume pot? Also are you only after 4 strings, or do 5 strings float your boat? Thanks, John
16. Someone will get a ridiculous bargain. I have the 5 string version, it's got a huge sound and the tone controls work in passive as well as active. Glaswegians.....go buy.
17. Man that's a great price for these underrated cabs, you're too far away otherwise I'd take them. And i don't even need more cabs..
