It's been discussed before
I was exchanging messages with the original seller who had it made by a guy at the Overwater factory. I bid £200, and someone won it for £220 I think, and he lives near me! Pretty gutted I missed out.

Bob, happy to send my schaller out to you to borrow, but will need you to tell me today so I can send it next day delivery. John
............................................No hurry to sell - should I put your name on it
I would rather wait to see how things pan out than waste your Tim. It's a bass that caught my eye, but don't really need Mike, I just want. But thanks for the offer, that is kind. I'm having something built for me, and final costs can fluctuate, hence my hesitancy to commit until I know where the moolah falls. Didn't mean to tease...
Having just aquired 5 & 6 string Shukers, I suspect this is now redundant..Awesome bass with piano tones..No issues..Lakky neck is a joy to play..Balances very well hence does not feel as heavy as I thought it would [lighter than my 70's Jazz!]....£350 + p&p....link to original thread...........http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=112414....................
I wanted this when Jack put it up before. Got one or two expenses (bass related) to meet this month. If this is around after that, I think you could have a sale.

K&K Double Bass MAX Pickup and Preamp

Here's something unique put together for me by Alan Hatswell from parts he had over. It's made of composite material (fiberglass and wood), and is a stable as a horses bedroom. I had to finish the build off (fitting machine heads, bridge, reinforce the tail pin, etc) but I paid my local tech to do it as I'm not confident enough. Anyway, it's full scale (41.5"), but has a shorter neck (25", so can get about a b on the G string) and narrower neck than a 3/4, so that the neck can be detached, along with the bridge, strings and tail piece, and packed inside the chambered body. The f hole is spray painted by the way. However, I can't quite do the narrow fingerboard thing, so am offering it up here. It's just looking at me everyday and I feel quite guilty not playing it. The neck size would suit someone new to DB, as it's narrow neck width is not so much of a shock as a 3/4. I have a P bass pickup that comes with it that fits on the end of the neck. It SOLD for £300 posted, or trade for something interesting, like a 6 string bass, mac with garage band, 3/4 double bass hard case, anything else you might want to part with, try me. Obviously some things will need a cash balance (my way I'm afraid). It will be packed in the same box that Alan sent to me. Am very happy to meet up/deliver to say Basingstoke/Bristol/Bournemouth/(B)exeter Happy to try and post some sound clips, but don't know how here, but can do over private email. As title. Happy to arrange another, same venue. But a bit more notice means I can get some more "trade" support. Probably be June/July. However, if someone else wants to sort a gathering out within 1 hours drive from me, I'll be there.
I don't think it's about qualification or commenting on technique. When I ask people to listen to my stuff it's simply "What do you like about it and what would you change?".
Personally, I'd find it interesting to hear people's reviews of their own playing, then perhaps ask for feedback. I'm sure it would be all very British and self deprecating, or very British and delusional.
I've read lots of complaints about the Schallers rattling and coming unstuck. I'd prefer that not to happen mid gig.
I had that issue, but it's an easy fix, nail varnish, or a tiny bit of blue tack, no more problems at all. John

Bought this a few weeks ago, but found it's a bit too "grown up" for my basic needs. I'm sticking with my Schaller and perhaps add a basic single paddle for a bit of finger noise. Hugely impressive pickup and pre combination, you have control of each pickup paddle and it sounded huge on my cheap ply bass and even more so on the portable. Gareth has kindly given me permission to post his original thread, as it had loads of information and nice pics. It has not been out of the house since I bought it. Here's the link http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=122706 I'm after £150 ono posted, OR trade for a K&K Dual channel Pro http://www.kksound.com/dualchannel.html and a bridge pup, so I can combine the Mag with the piezo. Or if you have another make that will fit the bill let me know plz. Thanks, John
I will get around to posting my DB amplification journey soon. All in all I tried 6 individual methods and a considerable number of combinations of these. C
I think we're all on that journey Chris. I've settled on my amp, but pickups... just as I say my Schaller mags rule, I go and try another K&K piezo and I'm wobbling again. We'll get there....we'll be poor, but we'll get there John -

Deleting posts and provenance of equipment sold on BC
oldslapper replied to Beedster's topic in General Discussion
Guilty of being a sheep, I thought it was the done thing to delete price on completion. Have no view on whether it should or shouldn't be done, but I suspect that one or two more will have deleted information on completion as they have seen others do it. Not and excuse, but a possible reason. As for price/value....if something doesn't sell, perhaps it's because no one wants to buy your markbenzbergfanniedfretless, no matter what the price is. -
G&L L-2000 = versatility personified. (pic added) classic styling too
+1 L -2000 covers your criteria Chris. Had 4 & 5 string Tribute versions, but I always end up back with Jazz basses, which cover most things, but have "girlier" necks! John

I was in a trio called The Symbolics.............I was Sym, the other two weren't much cop.
That bass will need to see a shrink for the rest of it's natural life
mmm "shrinking" is definitely not on the agenda watching that.

Thanks Derren!

Kev, There must be some open mic/Jam nights around your way, have you tried approaching from that angle? Get to play in a "supportive/encouraging" environment and get to play bass with others....just a thought. May see you sometime down on the coast. John

Glad you're passing on your experience, and that he is coming back (always a relief!). By the Topic title and your avatar, I was wondering what sort of lessons you were offering... ....was already to sign up and everything!
