1. You could write a song about this recent experience with your dad.......you are already feeling emotions about this. We communicate feel, which is our interpretation of an emotion, through our playing/writing? My daughter and i have just been listening to Bond theme tunes in the car for the last 2 hours and dissecting them. Huge difference in the feel of each song as the artist interpret the songs. Bassey/Jones/Gladys Knight/KD Laing all communicated emotion as they interpreted the songs. AHA, Duran Duran, Madonna, no emotion or feel, just cold whining indulgence. I don't know what your dad really meant, only he does, but perhaps you could ask him more and tap into this new connection with him. I am talking out of my a@#e as usual, so take no notice.
2. and very attractive, so I think, overall, she kind of comes out on top.
.can I be the first to say.....MATRON!!
3. If this is the mercury series, then they are a very good bass. You'll need to specify a price though....forum terms and conditions. All the best with your sale. Some pictures will help the sale (otherwise the bass doesn't exist). John
4.
I had an eyb bassiq 5 resoline, and these basses smoke!!!!!
Well that means you can't play them in public places over here.
5.
Can I point out for the avoidance of doubt that Honeys are a type of bass string
Yeah BIG disappointment!

9. 2 things... 1) Blades from this era are great basses. Necks very playable and excellent tone. 2) Dave has the best set up basses of all time, period! ...............................Ok ok, I bought a bass off Dave a while back and that was the best set up bass I ever played. John
10. Did these sell Mr Clarky sah? Would like to buy, if Jake's not interested, been promised them, or bought them. Ta John
11. Jam, if you're looking for reading & theory in particular at this time, and you can't find a decent bass tutor in your area, then go to a piano teacher......seriously.
12. Many thanks Dave. I like to move a little when playing, and find myself swaying a bit when not singing, so I reckon you may be right about the NS on a stand being a bit restrictive. I'm trying out an NXT tomorrow, so will see whether the feel and sound compensate. John
13.
Hey John You'll have to get behind me in the queue im afraid oldslapper Steve
Haha Steve, I think you maybe ok mate. Got an eye on something direct from Alan now. His basses are great IMHO Happy new year dude. John
14.
Hi - I have a Bassix "Jazza" in good condition. Blonde wood effect, downsized body, two band eq and volume. Very nice to play, set up for jazz. Not quite so suitable for arco. Not sure if I want to sell really but what sort of deal would you be interested in doing if you were interested? Regards Mike
Mike, sorry to "cut in" on this thread, but are you interested in a sale? If so, could you drop me a Pm please? Cheers, John
15. I'm after an EUB to use as a back up to my ADB. I think I've narrowed it down to the above 2 for my budget (circa £700). I've been offered an as new SWB, with hard case for a good price. I would consider another Bassix, but not sure if budget would cover one. Anyone give me some comparisons, or your experiences of either please, Many thanks, Happy New Year John
16. Oh and don't forget, I'll have one of the brazil nut chocs from that Thornton's box plz.
17. Liam, you'll hate this eventually, so to save you any heartache bring this to my house on Monday and I'll take it off your hands.....purely as an act of kindness..
18. Thanks John. I've emailed the guy. Bout an hour's drive, so not too far. John
19. Had a bit of a think on this. I would consider an EUB for £600-700 too. I had a Bassix for a brief time and that was good. Thanks, John
20. Some numpty knocked my DB over last night, broke the neck from the "heel" joint and pulled part of the back away. The action was so high you needed a bus to get to the fingerboard, the intonation and tuning were shot and the strings out of alignment with the neck. This all happened after we'd set up and went out of the venue for 20 minutes before first set. Obviously I didn't see it happen, and no-one has admitted to seeing it, let alone knocking it over. Show had to go on, great crowd (apart from the twat who mullered my bass) really up for a bop. Spent 2 x 45 minute sets using every muscle to press strings to board, tuning up half a dozen times through each song whilst playing and singing lovely bouncy little numbers, being told by the other singer to keep smiling Anyway, lots of moral tales out of this I know.......one of which GET INSURANCE!!! too late for me on this one. The bass is off to the repairers tomorrow, and in the mean time I need to buy a back up. Got sod all money, and what I did have was going to buy Gareths' G&L L1500...but not now. So any recommendations for a DB, for £600-£700?? It will more than likely sit at home once my other is repaired, but it would be nice to have a back up if needed. Some love for G4Music carved for bout £750, 2nd hand would be ok, if I could get to pick it up (I'm in west country). Sorry for whingeing tale above, really unhappy today. John
21.
I've sent you a pm John
GONE Now in steve's capable hands!
22. Steve took my double bass stand. Postage paid for pronto and good comms throughout...jolly nice chap! John
23. Gone to steve. cheers, John
24. Dave bought a tuner from me. Prompt payment, no issues. Many thanks! John
25. Cheers Dubs. Think I'll stick to the 'Bay, bit of a "wider" audience. The end date could work either way I guess? People bored at home, still hung over, still p@@@sed, or got a bit of cash for Christmas might go for them with a "bugger it" bid. Or everyone's out/away so no one will buy them, or someone will get them for peanuts....but right now I can't sell used volcanic ash to Iceland mate. John
