1. One of these: http://www.musik-service.de/boss-tu-50-chr...95757272en.aspx Works fine, and has a funky light show when not in "tuning mode". In good nick..few marks where it's had the tray under it, and where I put velcro strips in the corners to place on top of my amp. No rack tray I'm afraid, but comes with a non Boss PSU "daisy chain" that works fine. I'll chuck pics up in day light. I don't really want a cash sale, I would rather swap for a pedal floor tuner please. Ta, John
2. SOLD One of these: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/feb01/articles/bossjam.htm I've not used it much, but a good devise for recording with, or as a backing band, or a teaching aid. I'll get pics up soon. Very good condition, with 64MB card, PSU original box and manual. Will be packaged securely for delivery. Paypal, cheque, or cash fine. John
3. Just had a look at your ad Criag...and I know I'm doing myself out of a potential sale, but I reckon your Marshall will be a louder option, if that's what your after. The Ashdown is very compact, which is it's only advantage from what I can see, and maybe the British build? John
4.
Another one of yours that I am interested in! Again, if/once the marshall stuff sells I' be all over this, but I wouldn't hold your breath! Bit of a noob question, after playing with the 300 watt marshall half stack, how do you think this handles quite loud rock gigs? It's the same power but through a single 10 and 15 rather than a 4x10...
Hi Craig. Not sure about comparisons. A 4x10 I guess shifts more air as there's more surface? Is your Marshall head using the full 300watts into the 4x10? Looking at the Ashdown web site and the manual I have, it doesn't tell me what the combo puts out without the extension cab. I'm really not good at this stuff, but there are a couple of guys here, like "bumnote" & "Stevie", who could give you the answer I'm sure. John
5.
No split? Bah! That combo is surprisingly small and light and John's a great guy to deal with.
Thanks for that Liam! I'll bear you in mind if you are after the 1x15, if the 2 don't sell together,....you'll then have my complete old rig.... Still loving the LMII & 4x8?
6. It's a production over run cab, with a Celestion in. I put an Ashdown grill on. Not sure how the Ashdown Mk1's were configured? The 1x15 is surprisingly light and, imho, quite bright for a 1x15, without losing any bottom end. How's yours?
7. Thanks guys, I didn't know they even made these as they don't appear on any Ashdown catalogue. I did suggest trying to load them with a Neo, but in the end the weight difference wouldn't be sufficient to justify. Pics now up.
8. Mini 1x15 Sold. ABM EVO 300 combo with 1x10 driver[s], and matching mini 1x15 "over-run" cab with Ashdown grill and badge. Both UK built.[/s] Shown with a Warwick Streamer to give you an idea of size (hopefully). Come with Ashdown covers [s]for both units and a Jack-Speakon lead.[/s] It's not in shiny new condition, so has some speck marks here and there. [s][/s] I've used this for both electric and double bass, and I found it flexible enough for both. These combo's are quite rare as, according to Guy from Ashdown, they only made a few of these. Same width and depth as the Mini series cabs (only a tiny bit taller)[s], this sits neatly on top of the matching 1x15.[/s] Their size does mean they take up very little room at home and in a car boot. Only selling as I've gone even "mini-er" and bought a CMD121P combo, which will suit all my needs. I'll pop some piccies up in next few days. [s]Do not wish to split.[/s] Mates guitar shop will courier this for £20, if needed. I have a box/secure wrapping, etc. I am prepared to drive, say an hour, from North Dorset to Basingstoke, Bristol, Bournemouth, Exeter-ish for delivery/meet up. John
9. Dorset, back in the early summer.
10. I'm going to leave the 1x10 in there. The difference in weight will be minimal, as Stevie pointed out. I quite like the 1x15 as an extention cab, but more for it's size and weight, as the sound nuances spoken of above are lost on an insensitive brute like me. Having said that, I can see me selling the combo and cab soon anyway. I've fallen for Phil Jones amps, having had a Briefcase, I now want a Suitcase. I only gig double bass these days and record electric bass, so don't need anything loud. Thanks for all your advice, you guys are ace! Stevie.........Dorset bass bash next summer......
11. Hi Laurence. I'm probably being a blouse about the weight, but the combo is a UK made ABM EVO 300 with a 1x10 driver. It's basically the same size as the "mini" cab range and I use it with a mini 1x15 to get the full 325 watt at 4ohm. As I said, a 1x10 blue swap for a neo may not make a lot of difference to the weight, but may affect the sound adversely? I don't know, but thought I'd ask for some opinions. Thanks, John
12. Thank you Mr F. The threads look a little overwhelming for me, so I think I'll take your advice sir, and leave it as it is. John
13. Please excuse my general ignorance on these matters, but I was thinking about changing the blue driver in my ashdown combo for a celestion neo, to lessen the weight. However, I have a feeling that it's not as simple as taking out the old one and putting a new one in?? I looked on the wiki pages but couldn't locate the appropriate threads. My own, rather agricultural approach would be to swap and see what it sounds like, but...........I have a feeling that the cabs are "tuned" (whatever that means) to suit the driver.... so I'd need to read up on some technical stuff that will make me lose the will to live....., or take up the drums... Thanks for any (monosyllabic please) advice with pretty, primary coloured, pictures.. John
14. Quite quickly I ended up not listening to VW & MM. But I could have listened to SC, the drummer and the keys all day long with that nice understated, but fat, groove.
15. Mate of mine is after an SX 5 string. I'll let him know. John
16. Oh Jack, you know how much I love this bass...........!! Pooh and double pooh for having no money!! John
17.
Hello John, in three years I have never paid duty on strings from the states. They came straight to me within five days of odering them.
Thanks Nigel, I'll take a punt I reckon, your source looks a good'n. John
18.
I fancy putting some DR black beauties on my lovely lovely fretless. Piccys added! Has anyone used them ? will they damage my fret board? Cheapest place to get them?
Nice bass patch006 btw. Sir silddx did the strings come straight to you, or did you have to pick them up and pay duties, etc? I'm after some more fatbeams from the states, but concerned that it won't work out any cheaper in the end?? Thanks, John
19.
OR...on the other hand maybe its better to be patient, and work hard to save up for it.... then again the instrument may be sold by then...?
Bubinga, I'm not sure if this is always a good reason to get into a credit agreement sir. This is undoubtedly a great guitar, but it's not the only great guitar on the planet, and there will be other great guitars in a years time, or however long it may take you to save up £800 or so. Who knows, if you did get this on credit, whether you will still have it in a years time, if you're anything like me . I think there's some legal stuff about selling things that are still on HP....someone will know here. All I'm saying is the eye can want for pretty things and can get us into all sorts of trouble. Perhaps patience is best?? As an aside, the guitar I've had for the longest is the first one I ever saved up for and bought outright.....
20. Drummer only needed now.
21. Mike bought an Aria fretless from me. Nice guy, good comms throughout and had a nice chat when he came over. Deal with confidence. Thanks, John
22.
I'm afraid that women rarely have the stamina to maintain the long term geek factor required for long term posting on an Internet forum!
23. Dee Murray....my first love and first port of call. Kenny Passarelli...if I need fretless groove & aggression. Pierre Brock...anything needing funky fingers. There's soooo many tho', but these 3 have most influence over me.
