1.
I am in my 40's and an experienced drummer of many styles. I am energetic and creative. I am interested in this band as it sound more mature. Some of my messing about player can be found on youtube under mjollypantsjolly. It is not to be taken too seriously. Sadly I have a problem making Tuedays full stop. Nonetheless I would like to express my interest. Cheers, MArtin
Ok Martin, Drop me a PM and I'll give you details of who to talk to. By the way where are you based? John
 2.
They're terrific basses. Was that from the kindly vmaxblues, by any chance? Congratulations if that's the case
Indeed it was. Great fella to deal with. I used to look at these when I was in my late teens, but couldn't afford them, then they changed design and I went off Ibanez basses, but liked their guitars.
 3. I'm afraid I've never been an Ibby fan.......until now, when I took delivery (today) of a 30 year old Roadster. Admittedly it has an Alembic preamp in it, but the build quality is astounding. In 35 years of gigging, this is the most rock solid, comfortable, playable bass I've owned. I've gone through Status, G&L, Fender, Warwicks mostly.....no boutique's, but UK, USA and German made basses, but this made me smile from the moment I played it without even plugging it in. Huge bridge, brass nut, solid tuners, a great neck. Are the modern ones as well made as the old Jap ones? John
 4. Bought an Ibby Roadster from Stuart. Great comms throughout, bass arrived in tiptop shape as described, very well wrapped (I think Stuart has shares in Gaffa tape ). Thanks again S. John
 5. Grahame bought my PJ breifcase. Easy transaction, quick payment, nice guy, with good taste in amps!!. Thanks, John
 6.
Well spotted that man. You rattle a cage Nige
I am trying to visualize "ruffling a cage" though...you'd probably do it with a feather duster when you clean the cage? I have to say this has been a very civilised thread to date. I have nothing to contribute, but have enjoyed the debate................ha that rhymes....song writing....piece of cake..............no theory applied, or required. Chris Squire....nice beard, his ricky in that Yes clip sounds like a cage being rattled to my ears.

 13.
"sex on Fire"- how they laughed when I invented the asbestos condom!
Is that what's on the end of your pipes??
 14.
Not sure if I could cope with all the travelling.
Not sure they're ready for fretless wonder basses Dom, or "sex on Fire" on pipes.....I'd pay good money to hear that tho' John
 15. Mates band needs a bass player (and a drummer if you know of one available). The band have their own rehearsal room, backline, own PA, stage trailer. The keyboard player runs a music shop so no shortage of equipment!! They rehearse every Tuesday night, so a level of commitment is needed. It's an established 8 piece (with drums and bass) function band. Set list includes usual suspects (KOL, Killers, Queen, etc). Gigs lined up for next year, but looking at re-vamping set, so a great time to join and have an input. Would suit an enthusiastic amateur, with a decent playing ability, who fancies getting together each week for a play and a beer. £100 in yer pocket each gig by the way. They are a real "family" unit, so no egos' please. PM me and I'll pass on details. John
 16. This is now for sale. Only had this combo a couple of weeks, gigged it once. But I was so impressed I've ordered a Suitcase, which is more suited to my need for more volume. When I got this it was a little scruffy, and it had some dried mud on the drivers. But with help and advice from various members here, in particular Bill Fitzmaurice, I've cleaned them up. The combo sounds great and handles low end surprisingly well. It also sounds great with an acoustic guitar, or jazz guitar. The battery option, or powering using a car battery is useful for busking/outdoor stuff. (It doesn't come with an internal battery by the way). Would suit double bass, quiet acoustic gigs, or as a practice amp. Although it does have a line out to PA so could be used as on stage monitor. Here's the spec. http://www.philjonespuresound.com/products/?id=8 I'm based in North Dorset, but would be happy to meet up as far as Basingstoke, Bristol, Bournemouth, or Exeter. Many thanks, John

I had a lovely conversation on here....very nice chap (Oldslapper was his name I think)....obviously knows his stuff, very handsome and talented by all accounts.......unlike Macclar apparently..??!!
