1. I keep (and update) a "book" of song titles that I'll take as starting points, then if I come up with an interesting melody idea/hook, I'll try matching with an appropriate lyrical idea. Keeps me focused...........ooooh look!... a fly.....
 2. Darn it again U...........another lovely bit of kit. Great guy, great gear, someone pleeeeeease buy this now... (got the mini's back btw....they shall now stay put!) john
 3. Depends on what you'd want lessons in really? Technique....go to a bass player/teacher. Groove?....probably come up to you mate!! Theory?....I did separate theory grades with a classical guitarist. I didn't touch on guitar playing, just theory and it was helpful to get an overview of of both staves. My pet hate though is guitarists teaching bass....don't know why....just do.
 4. My brother taught me All Right Now, by Free and I was hooked on bass from that moment! ........35 years ago..!
 5.
Hi John, just to let you know that I pm'd earlier regarding postage, sure we'll know soon enough !!!! Cheers Dave
No worries Dave, thanks.
 6. Might be interested in this, for a retro look. Would you post? John
 7. Ian bought a genz cab off me. Paid quickly, no hassle, good communications all the way. Nice guy, thanks Ian. John
 8. Not enough love for the Shaftesbury option? 11 people would be more like a "tap" than a "bash" Not been to one before, so is there a minimum number to make it work? Anyone willing/able to organise something in Bristol/Exeter as they seem to be favs at the mo', I'm happy to help on the day, but a bit far to organise venue/shops, etc. before hand. OS
 9.
Make up your mind Poor things probably plucking plectrums off a stand holder going "He loves me. He loves me not"
I know I know......I've got one Jazz bass that I've had for years, I reckon it it says to the latest piece of wood hanging next to it....."you won't be here long, I'm the only one he loves"....
 10. James bought a Jazz bass off me. Lightning fast reactions on the payment trigger and great messages throughout. Thanks John
 11.
I'm v. interested! You'll post for £250? This is a mexican right?
Yep, Yep
 12.
This can happen due to the plastic saddle + shim being too soft and not applying enough pressure on the piezzo or the bottom of the saddle + shim are not perfectly horizontal and in full contact with the piezzo. I have seen this mute effect on acoustic guitars with piezzos. Take precise measurements of the plastic saddle, get on ebay and get a piece of TUSQ, BONE,BUFFALO HORN or EBONY that fit those measurements. After that a bit of sandpaper (+ glass surface to rest it perfectly flat) a ruler, tlc and elbow grease should do wonders.
+1 on replacing the saddle with bone/tusq. I play acoustic guitar and replacing the plastic saddle with a bone one gave an "even response" across all strings and frequencies. Your bridge/saddle is similar. You don't have to be a tech to do this, just follow CoolCat's advice. nice looking EUB.
 13.
So glad this is sunburst, don't need another Jazz, don't need another Jazz, don't need another Jazz, don't need another Jazz
Sand paper, Sand paper, Sand paper, Sand paper, Go on Wayne, down to B&Q with you... John

 15.
Ill take that as a no(x3)
That is very pretty bass you have there......very Aerodyne-esque....but I must resist....no more basses.
 16.
Would u consider a trade for a Yamaha RBX A2?
Don't need any more basses, don't need any more basses, don't need any more basses.....if I say it enough times I might believe it.. Thanks and I do like yamaha's (I play an old 604 which is lush), but I actually don't need another bass. Cash or a nice little mini 1x15 would do it. John
 17. This is a passive 4 string MIM Jazz bass that has had the decal changed to read "made in usa". It also has a usa serial number on the reverse headstock. The bass is very clean, in excellent condition. Used it on Saturday, to give it a run out before selling. It's the first time I've gigged with it since getting it and it did what I wanted it to do without fuss, covered full range of styles/sounds no worries. Bought it as a "spare", but won't be needed. Di Marzio Area J pups (hum cancelling), black badassII bridge. Will come with quality warwick gigbag (with velcro neck holder). Nice player, strung with HR Hi beams I think?? I'm offering it at £250 posted. If no interest in a couple of days, I might take apart and sell bits separately, as I noticed a couple of wanted posts for necks/bodies/badassII's etc. In which case there would be a body with pots/plate/knobs, a neck, a black badassII & pair of very nice J pups. Don't know about prices, happy to be guided before hand tho'. I may also be interested in a trade for a small 1x15 cab 8 ohm 300 watt minimum, with cash adjustment. I have secured a 4x8 mini at a very good price, but the 1x15 purchase has fallen through. So my love for the mini 1x15 is still unrequited. I can't drive too far from North Dorset at the moment, so any cabs would need to be couriered or within 50 miles for me to pick up. Here's some pics....hope the link works, I've not done this before. 20. Bristol based function band looking for bass player two posts down from this one I believe??
 21. Just my two pennies worth. Playing covers in a "covers band" actually made me a little more disciplined in my approach to playing, which then made my writing bass parts for "original's" so much better as I had to listen & learn bass parts from other, far better players than I. Particularly songs/artists and bass players I would never had chosen to listen to before. Basically it reduced my musical snobbery. I'm very happy breaking down and learning note for note the bass part for a new song, instead of busking it. It's interesting hearing how, and why, a part is played. Don't forget some bass parts of famous tunes would have been suggested by some of the best producers in the industry....worth taking notice me'thinks. Just a thought......that's all
 22.
Did you look for the label in the bass?Would like to know what make it is-the wood looks very like sapele to me! Enjoy
Had a look inside last night, no label! Looks like it's had a few repairs over the years mind. Being a noob to DB, is sapele bad?
 23.
Hi John, The distance between the centre of the string to the next string at the bridge. Cheers, Lee
Ok, does 19mm sound right? Did it with a tape measure, hard to find centre of 2 strings exactly. Cheers John
