1. I have a Little Mark II thanks to FM. Best packaged amp ever recieved....a gentleman to deal with thanks Paul.
 2.
Also bear in mind that it's highly unlikely that either of your cabs would play any louder when powered with 500W rather than 300W. Why? Because although the thermally limited power handling may be more than 300W the excursion (i.e. volume displacement) limited power handling is likely to be significantly lower. With multi-driver cabs changing the wiring (and still maintaining equal power per driver) can only ever quadruple or quarter the impedance (depending on how they're originally wired), it can never double or halve the nominal impedance. Alex P.S. It's impedance, not ohmage!
Ok thanks Alex. So my 300 watt 15 mini cab, which is considerably lighter, wouldn't be a problem with 300 watts from the amp? If so, that gives me a bit more of a choice. John
 3.
John i have mailed you contact details Rob
Sorry Rob, PM now. Cheers, John
 4. Good shout dude, but my thumb is what's muting the E in this track!
Before you go to boots, or B&Q, try resting the wrist end of your thumb on the E string to mute it........, definately geting my coat now. Hope gig goes well, personally I loves a good disco track to play, reminds me of me yoot...."get down, boogie oogie oogie, get down, boogie oogie oogie..." get the white flares out, nope don't fit no more.
 5. Might need an adjustment in technique but if it's disco octaves, try playing lower string with thumb and free up i & m fingers........unless you are already doing that, in which case I'll get my coat...
 6. Congrats! brilliant stuff! If you come down south west I'll come and have a yodel, PR one of my fav singers. john

 8.
esp. if the cabs are really for monitoring I'd very much doubt with your rig you'd have any problem not hearing them
Thanks for the advice guys. I probably don't need the full gas from the head, never have done to date and I'm never likely to play wembley , so I'll stick with what I've got from what you say. I guess I could always get a 4 Ohm cab in future if The Who need me....in which case make that several 4 ohm cabs and heads. Thanks again, John
 9. I have recently bought a mark bass LMII, 300 watts at 8 ohm and 500 @ 4ohm. I have 2x8 ohm "ashdown" mini cabs (4x8 @ 600 watt and 1x15 @ 300 watts). I like both cabs, but had thought about just using the 4x8, which has a surprising spread. It occured to me tho' that I'll never get the full whack out of the head using a single 8 ohm cab. All 3 outfits I play in take a signal out from the backline and the cabs are for monitoring really and, to date, I've never had to have any of my amps (min 400 watts in the past) over half way output volume, and never needed to use 2 cabs of any description. So, I could live with just one...but wondered if it was possible to convert drivers to 4 Ohm, so "just in case" I need to suck a bit more juice out of the amp. The 4x8 is 600 watt rated...? Any advice?
 10.
Hello Electric & Double bassist available, 25 years experience, for dep work, functions, pubs, shows etc. Can read, Dots & Chord charts, or busk. Good equipment & reliable Rob
Hi and welcome Rob. PM with contact details, could have some dep work. John
 11. Dee Murray, on "funeral for a friend", my eldest brother had just bought the last decent album Elton John ever made, 1973 I was 13. Immediately joined a band in school and insisted on playing bass so I could play this tune (played guitar up till then). Wonder how many Dee Murray appreciators are out there. Wonderful player, underated.
 12.
Are you talking Bristol, maybe?
Bristol is driveable (1 hour), we're a bit further south in Dorset, but travel for a good show wherever.
 13.
No longer on hold
Does this mean it's available?
 14. Ok sorted on an amp now. This is a straight sale. £270 collected, or delivered within reasonable distance for a bit of petrol money? Could post, but there is no hard case.
 15.
Perhaps so, yes. I mean I just do feel like a change after 2 years, and I've been after a Fender for a while, it's my next step up on the bass ladder. Hopefully I can get a used MIJ or MIA Precision for around £400-550. How does a Spector neck compare to a Precision?
I use a spector now in my function band and find it very flexible. I use a spector 5 string and the neck feels much slimmer than my MIJ/MIM cross fender precision 4 string, which by the way is for sale for £300 (shameless plug). I used to use P basses in my youth in the late 70's and thought I'd revisit those years, but sadly I've grown used to slimmer necks. On the sound front the P bass is very distinctive and not so flexible IMHO, but then I'm old and my ears are knackered!
 16. Don't know about genre, but the wife blames my gender for my constant change of basses.
 17.
My goodness, there are so many nice basses for sale on here why on earth would anyone want to buy mine?
aktcherlee these are great basses for the money, had one a few years back.
 18.
Used to be mine - excellent bass! BUMP>>>
Yes, can't believe the day I get it my amp goes. Had to sell something.....bah! How's the heating Mickey??
 19.
Hi, if i can get the money together (highly likely) and get to you from south west london somehow, then id buy this! Lets hope i can get a cousin to give me a lift................
It's here, just let me know.
 20. Underated? Dunno, but rarely mentioned-----Dee Murray, wonderful player and brill B/Vs to boot! Overated? That's tough.....anyone who thinks they're irreplaceable.
 21. I would have had this if it was actually called a Pervey Millstone....
 22.
I have started to learn Piano and it has opened up my world as far as bass playing is concerned...Knowing the chords which your basslines are based around does really help IMO..especially when improvising...
Learning an intstrument such as piano or guitar, even at a very basic level, can be very helpful for understanding chord structure. Hearing how the left hand bass notes "fit/or not" with right hand chords can be very useful & great fun experimenting.....but then again I may just be a bit sad and have too much time on my hands..
