It might sound wierd, but I'm really excited for you. You have a wife who wants you to get up on stage....give her a big squeeze afterwards for asking you to get up there! I'm very grateful to my other half for being so encouraging. Seriously, after the first couple of seconds plugging in, and hearing a count in, getting over the first couple of bars of the first song, you'll be surprised how "familiar" it will all be. One tip might be to ask the band to play the song you find "easiest" to play first, or are most familiar with, that doesn't have too many changes. (Maybe sweet home alabama?). That way you can get used to hearing the rest of the band, get your bearings, etc. Anyway, loads of great advice from the community above ....please let us know how it went..

Selling my Hohner Jack bass. Bought for my son, but he's not that bothered and is sticking with sax and piano. 4 string, active EQ. 2 Select EMG pups. Very good nick. Comes with new TKL gig bag. Will post at cost, or deliver/meet within 25 miles north dorset, or you can come and try out and collect.
Nope.
Ok, anyone still interested in doing this? I'm very happy to help in any way. I've got a large, low ceiling modern church hall we can use for free, with PA, loads of parking, bogs, coffee and tea facilities, Tesco over the road, Costa and plenty of pubs. Not forgetting the famous "Hovis Hill" to admire and role down. It's in Shaftesbury though, on the A350 so good for anyone coming up from Poole/Bournemouth/Southampton, or down from Bath/Brissle, or East from Wiltshire/Salisbury, or West from Yeovil and ye olde flat lands beyond. Anyway, don't want to step on any toes, just happy to help. John

Cheers, OldGit. Sounds daunting, but I'd be happy to do it! Presumably find out who'd be interested, find a central venue, etc. Did you have to charge a sub to cover venue costs, or did you find a place for free. Anything I'd need to be aware of? I'd appreciate any pointers from your experience please?? Oldslapper.

Had a search for an existing thread, but couldn't find one. Feel free to show me the link to one tho'. Has there been a south west bass bash recently? If not is there one planned? Who organises them? Thanks. John
Don't know about this bit though.
Ok...I'm a 6'4" 16 stone sensitive flower with no sense of humour??? I do feel like I've hijacked this thread a bit with my rants, so apologies to all who were expecting just nice bass pics. As soon as I get my Groove bass back, I'll post that, as it's the bass I loved to fondle and wish I'd not let her go...again, I know it's nothing expensive but I'm easily pleased.
WTF - the point that I was trying to make is that most musicians tend not to be sensitive little flowers or easily offended - not that you have to turn into Bernard Manning to be in a band! Strangely enough this does not seem to be an issue with the female singer in one of my bands and any risque humour is just as likely to come from her as anyone other band member..... The fema
Ok so I'm a sensitive "little" flower with no sense of humour, very happy with that. I think I was more annoyed about the site being dismissed as only good for the classified section, when I've seen people pour their hearts out about divorce, fighting cancer, bereavement, etc. and seeing the amount of support given by this community, for free, in peoples own time. Maybe they're all over sensitive too?? Although I do wonder who the "sensitive" ones really are when I see some reactions when people's behaviour is challenged. I'm new to forums and I guess it shows. Sorry to have caused you or anyone else a problem with my views mate. Take care.

I got stung on an amp last year (before new rules probably), seller begged for positive feedback. So against my better judgement I gave +ve feedback when I recieved the amp, and it turned out to be a crock, never again. I hadn't realised the rules had changed......that sucks. Hope it gets sorted, do you have an email address, other than his ebay one? You might be able to get some confirmation in writing from him, by way of evidence outside of ebay, that could be used if things aren't what they seem? Generally though, most people are pretty genuine, so it's probably ok. But cover your butt in as many ways as possible (in a metaphorical way of course).
Nothing wrong with your sense of humour mate (or Sarah’s or Rich’s), it’s just that there are too many here who are just too PC for words. How they ever manage to hack it in a band, I have no idea! I think that you have to accept Basschat for what it is – a great place to find & sell gear or to get info and technical advice (if you can distinguish between those who know what they’re talking about and those who really don’t), but not necessarily a great place for debate or what you’ve come to recognise as the knockabout humour that you tend to associate with most musicians……
What?? So I'm likely to get kicked out of 2 bands I play in because I don't make comments to the female singers about the size of their t**ts, because that's what a proper musician does?? Next time I get a session playing for a female artsist I'll remember that because I'm a musician I must get a Bernard Manning joke book out and be sure to tell a few. Glad I'm not "most musicians" mate, otherwise I might as well go back to scaffolding.......where no one cared if you didn't read the sun actually. As for the site not having good debate, what this.....?? Personally, I like this site, it's a good community and pretty well managed. There are plenty of other sites that sell gear, and plenty of forums that offer technical advice pertaining to specific manufacturers.... Anyway rant and brain fart over...but I just hate being told that I have to conform.....
I went looking for a schema but my usual sources turned up blank. Next I tried the Eden forum and it seems this is not an unusual problem, however the solution given is 'send it back'. Sorry that's of no real help.
Thanks. That's helpful as I didn't know there was one, I'll check it out. It would appear that this model had issues that led to various changes to the range. The current Nemesis range is quite different inside. The tech I took it to said that the "ratings" of the various components were not standard either. I can see this heading for the bin.

Bought a squire jazz off me. Uber quick payment and great guy to do business with, thanks. John
I think you're in the right section,so eventually the help will come along
Thanks Ray, I wasn't sure, then I saw the ask an expert section and thought ah! John

How do I move this to "ask an expert" please??

Everything was fine, the wife didn't notice new guitars or amps....but then my daughter learned to talk, and she notices everything! So it ususally goes......"MUM!!! Dads bought a new guitar!!"...... kids, eh? There so cute when they're babies you could eat them, then they grow up and you wish you had!

Bought the above amp here a few months ago, it's had very light use and never been out of the house as I use another amp for gigs, but 4 weeks ago it made a horrible loud buzz and died. Took it to a local tech who said the power amp section is knackered. He's got diagrams sent from Eden, but none match what's under the chassis, as the diagrams show upgraded circuits. He reckoned on at least £100 repair, which I think is not worth spending as the amp would probably sell for no more than £150. Has anyone else had problems with this series of Nemesis amps? I noticed that they don't come up often and that the new Nemesis range looks different. Anyone know where else I can get a circuit diagram for the NA series? I am a technical ludite, and have to have anything technical explained slowly and with cartoons. Not sure what to do, scrap it and put it down to experience? bah!
I have 3 sets of Elites Double Ball End strings for sale. Stainless steel , gauges 40-60-80-100. New and unused. Were £19.99 a set rrp. (Got them for my Hohner B2A, but have stopped using it recently so these are now surplus.) £12 a set delivered (in the UK). Cheers Pete.
PM'd for a set plz.

Standard Spector Legend 5 string in very good nick. Selling as I'm buying some bits for my EUB and need some dosh. I like the sound of these basses, bridge pup is nice and grunty, and neck has nice crisp punch. This is a slappers delight IMHO. Neck is straight, and I've found a guy who has done a great set up, so has nice low action and new strings and he fitted a new jack socket as the old one was dying. Comes with strap locks and leather strap. No gig bag I'm afraid, but it would be packaged nice and safe'n'cozy for posting. Also happy to deliver or meet within 25 miles of North Dorset, or come and collect. John
Hello 'oldslapper', - no disrespect it's your screen name! To get rid of any confusion I've caused I've done an edit on the original post and taken the word 'Sell' from the Topic Title. I’ve never had the word ‘Sale’ either in the Topic Title or the post, I hope removing the word ‘Sell’ has cleared this up. I'm really sorry for causing this flurry of concern and confusion - It's a TRADE I'm after. Oggy
No worries Oggy, Just trying to help...., usually fail, but I hope you get your trade. I love Les Paul basses, probably the coolest looking bass ever made, and need to be worn round about crutch height for maximum effect...... IMHO
But what does the bass cost? I can´t find the actual money asked for this bass anywhere, what am I missing?
you're not missing anything ! It's either for trade, and he's made it clear what he wants (USA Fender Jazz) Or it's for sale ....but there is not a price listed, in which case one needs to be put on, or the "for sale" bit needs to be removed. Makes no odds to me as I haven't got a US Jazz, or any money, but would love this baby sooooo much, I could pretend to be Ronny Lane and play Itchycoo Park.
