  1. Haven’t measured it yet, but 17.5mm is looking favourite.
  2. I’ll take a look Brendon and get back to you. 👍🏻
  3. First off, this is a terrific bass and although I haven’t had it long, it has brought a wonderfully creative added dimension to the Prog fusion project I bought it for. It’s been a while since I owned a 5’er but this has fallen very comfortably under my fingers.
  4. Yeah. I’m thinking rehearsing with a couple in a band situation might be best. Not having experience of pedals, I can see that it could be a deep old rabbit hole, bit like double bass strings.
  5. Been looking at one of those Stew, they look like a lot of fun. I think I need to try some different pedals in a rehearsal to get some “sonic context”.
  6. I had an energy 6 string. Most comfortable neck I’ve played. Status Groove 5 was the same. If I hadn’t just bought the USA Sub5, we would have met on a road between Bath and Swindon exchanging money and bass by now.
  7. I do simple. I like simple. I play P basses. Simple 😂 However, for this project I am using a 5 string MM, so that’s more strings and controls than my brain usually has to deal with. An additional element needs to be as simple as possible. 🤪
  8. I bought a Boss FT-2 the other day. Sounded great, but made me realise that “synth” is more what I’m after for the music we write.
  9. I found it interesting how little they appeared to know about the kit they were using. PM stating he didn’t know what the controls did on his bass. JL didn’t appear to realise his guitar was out of tune. I found it refreshing how un-nerdy about gear they appeared to be.
  10. No but dep’ed for a band playing for Royal Engineers officers mess pre tour bash in a marquee at the barracks. When we plugged in all our kit (pa, backline, lights, plus disco and mobile bar fridge) into provided sockets, there was a bang and all the power went down. We followed the trail of 4 gang sockets that all led to one extension lead plugged into a socket in the kitchen. The mess colour sergeant was very apologetic and (quietly) chuntered that “if it were a foot soldiers party, there would have been generators, etc. but what do you expect from the “Ruperts”. Makes you proud. 😂
  11. @Skin Lewis which end of Brizzle are you? I’m in Bath.
  12. I’ve just seen a video demo of the digitech bass synth wah pedal. That looks very interesting and I can see me using it in the trio definitely. Thoughts/experience anyone?
  13. Like the one @ped is selling?
  14. Looking at the Carl Martin opto envelope filter and the Eden too. Blimey there’s a lot of choice. Pedals are a rabbit hole you could disappear down for a loooong time 🐰🤪😳
  15. @E sharp is selling one, hence the reference. I’d not heard of them before either. As the effect will be used in an originals setting, I have no “sound” to chase.
  16. Only had one pedal in all my days playing bass. A BBE Optical Comp, lovely pedal. But have compression on my amp. But 12 months into a jazz/fusion project, I’m admitting that a bit o’envelope/wah would fit nicely. So I’m not looking to invest in anything boutique, at least not at first. And not wanting a multi fx box either. Thinking (as an inexpensive intro to the pedal rabbit hole) along the lines of: Ashdown Filter Malekko E.FILTER ( EHX nano baseballs I'm using a 5 string ray through Ashdown Neo 2x10 combo for reference. Any experience of the above peeps? Comparisons? Thanks, John
  17. I’m really enjoying it. Not a Beatles fan, but loving watching their process/ relationship. PM is one of my favourite musicians, so watching him in this setting is gold for me. …..Cue the grenades 😜
  18. 3rd bass I’ve had off Stuart over the years. Hassle free (from my perspective) deal. A true gent to deal with. Thanks John
  19. Very little in my experience, other than whim and fantasy, clothed in super spiritual language in some cases. I feel for you, and find it so sad that this is still going on 10 years after I was last involved in church organised music. Leaders, please either trust your musicians, or help them by having some thought about what they may need to assist whatever it is you’re trying to achieve in a service. Too often I had “I’d like us to sing (x/y/z) now” at the end of a sermon, often something I’d never heard of, without notice. Given the significance often put on the “sermon/preach/word” and the time spent preparing it, gave some indication of the value put on musicians time in preparation. I will bow out from posting on this thread as it’s probably not what the OP had in mind. But it still find it sad. Keep remembering why you’re doing it peeps, do your best, listen to as wide a pallet of musical influences as possible to increase your vocabulary. Love each other and, above all…. don’t listen to me 😂🤪
  20. So glad this is still going! I remember organising one over 10 years or so ago in Shaftesbury. I’ll try and be there, especially if there’s crumble…🤪
