The law of diminishing returns, Tonewood and other folly’s
oldslapper replied to tegs07's topic in General Discussion
this will make for an interesting debate. -
Really like his playing. Gets a lot of (very dull) stick here. I’m not a massive U2 fan, but appreciate what he brings is perfect for their sound. Didn’t know he was an Ashdown user.

SOLD Cover the postage and a packet of sausages and all this is yours!! Yes ALL of it…..I know!!! EB strap, a purple strap. Has no effect on tone whatsoever, but you can tell yourself it does, I know I have. Snark Tuner. Not the puppy version!! Random “Corona Extra” pup with jack input attached. It’s relevant and so now! I can’t vouch that it isn’t responsible for the past 2 years of mayhem, but it’s unlikely. Couple of left over decals (John Bass). Yes, fool your friends and armies of fans worldwide, with this decal. (NB Doesn’t work if your name IS John, as you’ll just be reinforcing the truth and no one wants that)

SOLD Boosey & Hawkes 400 3/4 bass. All laminate Czech made, although I’m not sure of age. Plays nicely, strung with new set of Presto hybrid Lights. There are some minor chips here and there and a mark on the side of the neck. At some point in its life before I had it, it’s had a neck repair, but it’s solid. Pictures of break/repair added. No case I’m afraid. Collection only, or possibly meet up around Bristol or Bridgwater if necessary. My left hand fingers have developed some arthritic pain over this last 12 months, which means I’m playing DB less and less. If this doesn’t sell, I’d be happy to loan it out to someone who can’t afford a DB but wants to try one out for a stretch.

It’s been a while 😊 I don’t think I’ll ever understand church goings on, it all very complicated 😂 Glad people are getting a chance to play though, and practicing their seat of the pants improv chops. 😎

Why isn’t it the other way round?

@Velarian what did you use to cut the material?

That’s a great job!

They look ideal, apart from the extra hole. If they did one with just 3 holes it’d be exactly what I’m after. Why the extra hole?😳

Looking to source just the control plate, not the whole pick guard for a standard P bass (not a 51/ Tele). Found some rocking horse poo, but not the above. Any pointers? I’m not up to making one. Thanks.

Have to say I’ve been very impressed by their customer service. Sent the amp section of my NEO combo to them for repair/service on Monday, which they received yesterday. Notified today that they’d fixed it and it’s on its way back to me, delivery sometime today! Always found Mark and both Dave’s helpful. A lot of companies could learn a thing or two about looking after your customers from these guys.

Good build quality Steve for sure.

To me Mick, yes. I looked at a couple of other options, and for my needs and price point, it hit the target. 👍🏻 I’ve been meaning to get a DI pedal with eq for a while, and need silent practice options. 😎

Arrived this morning from Thomann, ordered middle of last week. Tested it out using battery (PSU coming tomorrow). Plugged in a P bass, headphones and an iPad and that was an hour gone playing along with some Bernard classics. Such a great little package, does exactly what I bought it for, which is silent practice. Had a play around with the cab sims and the overdrive/fuzz options, which sounded overdriven and fuzzy, with a variety of control of how overdriven or fuzzy you want. I’m unlikely to ever use them, as I have a bit of tube pre on my Ashdown, but nice to know they’re there. Handy as a stand alone DI box too with the eq/OD, and, I guess, you could take it along to a dodgy car park when you want to try out the bass you really shouldn’t be buying, but are compelled to as it’s THE one…definitely! A good purchase I’d say.

I had a factory fretless bought from Machinehead back in early 80’s. Sounded great.
