Nice looking custom headless 6er
oldslapper replied to TheGreek's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Yes does look nicely put together. -
Ashdown NEO 2x10 ABM combo. Great combo, but developed a fault which is that the pre amp works, all switches and dials working, but the volume is intermittent and very low, with an occasional expected volume. I’ve looked inside and the drivers all look like they’re connected ok. I didn’t notice it until I used it in a studio, when the engineer took a line out and although the pre amp worked fine as a DI, the cab volume started going very quiet and intermittent. I contacted Ashdown and they thought it was as a result of a faulty line in the studio and the power stage shut down. But it’s continued back home now. Power amp? Drivers? Cable from drivers to power stage? Cable Input? Although I tried both inputs and same thing happens. I’m taking it to the guy I use for amp tech stuff in a couple of weeks time, but would be interested in any thoughts here. Thanks for reading this far.

Having a P on the sofa is very satisfying. Here are my 2 bitsas. Fretless has tonerider pups and series/parallel switching. Fretted just been put together and soon to have some SD pups replacements. Put a cheeky “Finder” decal on.

Something to do with scallops, filing, large hands and the wrong bridge. It’s a perfectly balanced story line apparently.

Wow, didn’t realise these had investment potential

Ah! Thanks, surprised it hadn’t been brought up before. 🤦🏻♂️😊 I thought they only increased in value once they’d been “improved” for “perfect balance “ by everyone’s favourite wielder of the chisel?! -
SOLD Clever wife found a padded gig bag in the attic eves that I didn’t know I still had, so I can offer this in a much more straightforward way. Collect, meet up or courier. This is a generic ABS hard shell case. It’s taking up too much room and I don’t use it much. Good working condition, internally little wear, just marks where strings were. It’s got all its feet and the latches work, but it doesn’t have a key to lock. The price is based on similar cases available. I’m based in Bath so meet in and around Bath/Bristol, or sometimes I put a hazmat suit on and venture as far as Bridgwater midweek. Could post, but can we see how face to face works out first? Thanks for looking. Post add £10

I can think of someone who does some amazing things with neck/bridge scale length conversions. Very unique approach.

Sorted (just change the plug according to your country)

Young Carlton was part of that wonderful zinc generation that preceded the golden generation. Which of course achieved the same level of mediocrity as each other.

Thanks for the suggestions chaps. It’s quite heavily lacquered. Might try heat gun, good shout. Outdoors of course. I could just leave it.

One of my basses has a Fender decal, it’s not a Fender neck and I’d like to replace it with one of my own decals. However it’s so well embedded, sand paper isn’t touching it so far. I’m loathed to sand agriculturally, but if I must, I will. I have the correct lacquer to refinish, but… Thought I’d check here first for any tips from team BC first. Thanks for your help.

So…… Ruin a cheap, but perfectly functional bass, claim it has been improved then charge 2.5 times the price? That’s like sawing one of Carlton Palmers legs off, selling him to PSG for 200 million on the basis that he is now “improved, lightweight and streamlined”. The guy is delusional at best.

Finally put a fretted P together to go with my fretless PJ G&B Ash body (very light) Unknown neck but bleedin’ lovely 42.5mm nut (same as fretless) Schaller machineheads Custom matt black scratchplate Nice vintage bridge CTS pots/orange drop cap Pup is a Wilkinson but I’m changing that for either a Di marzio or a Tonerider to match the fretless. Fretless has an Ash body Unknown neck (ignore Jazz decal, it’s a 43 mm nut) tonerider PJ pups series parallel pull on volume Lovely players, nice low action for my light touch. Here’s the 2 siblings.
