Can anyone identify this Bass Player please?

Be bop deluxe bassist Charlie Tumahai? -
Sold. £50 I bought this as a 4 ohm 2x12 cab to match the PB head, but the neo drivers were truly awful (read reviews from TB). So I replaced them with 2 x new 4ohm Celestion BL12-200x drivers and wired them to make an 8 ohm cab as I already had a 1x12 8 ohm cab. Very warm sounding with the PB amp. Cab is scruffy around the material covering, and the tweeter doesn’t work although dial turns. The integrated trolley was removed. £50 (which is cheap for a perfectly functional cab). But I need space. Pick up only please. I’m in Bath, and work once a week in Bridgwater, so can meet up within reasonable distance from either.

Anyone built there own flight case? Thinking about one for my Evo neo 2x10 combo. Does the price of decent ply these days make it prohibitive, compared to buying one already made. What are your experiences? thanks. John

I don’t actually think Mr Dart is a loser. It was supposed to be a joke, an observation on passive v active, etc blah blah blah. But I guess if you have to explain a joke, then it’s clearly not funny. Gordon Bennett..!

This lot are a bit commercial for your average dubster 😂 I remember seeing them at Hammy odeon supporting AWB. But this bass line was great to use for teaching a nice reggae line.

Yes just V-V. TBH I use one tone setting on my basses and generally have the same setting on my amp, so if I could get away with just a volume control I would, but there’s always that voice in my head saying “what if...”, so the tone control is like a spare pair of pants for me, just in case...😂

That’s a lovely bass @tegs07 😎 I’ve not tried the signature bass, but I have had a G&L SB2 bass that doesn’t have a tone dial and it was great, but does have 2 pickups that helps with getting some tonal choices. My op was a silly observation on “tones in the fingers” v passive v active v flats v rounds v the world 😊

Maybe the battery ran out on his active bass?
-
I can get that tone on my bass Joe, and can do without your rather dismissive attitude towards active basses. All I do is switch the 3rd switch from left down, whilst the far right one simultaneously is flicked up, then turn the middle knob 45 degrees towards the front pickup, and keep the knob nearest to me slightly sou-sou-west facing, the main volume knob full on and the “semi active” pull knob is pulled up, or is it down...hold on no it’s up and the 3rd tone knob is off and middle pickup is “in phase” with the thingy dial, no, it’s not, it’s the parallel rotary dial switch that is moved 3 clicks towards my moustache, I think, but definitely while using .90mm rubber/foam custom hybrid plectrum. Nailed it Joe 😝 loser.

Rockonteurs with Gary Kemp & Guy Pratt

Well thanks!!! I’m supposed to be working, but I’ve listened to Coverdale, Manzanira and King interviews back to back, so far🤦🏻♂️ -
Bands you once hated but are now coming round to
oldslapper replied to Barking Spiders's topic in General Discussion
I’m a bit like this. I was 19-20 when New Romantic stuff came on the scene, hated it all. Recently saw a documentary on Spandau Ballet which changed my mind about them as I got to hear more of their material, which was surprisingly enjoyable. Although Gary Kemp appeared to be a bit of a nob in the end (albeit a very rich one) with his “actor” persona and faux posh voice, the rest seemed to retain their north London roots. Martin Kemp was a better player than I had assumed too. -
And why not? It’s a really good film.

Singers would have to learn to drive. Guitarists would have to bring leads to gigs. -

Let's talk about pitch correction.
oldslapper replied to leftybassman392's topic in General Discussion
I love listening to Russian choirs. They’re Oktavists are amazing. Bb clear and loud. No pitch correction going on. I understand why artists/studios use pitch correction, it kind of fits in with the use of quantisation and compression to achieve some perception of what is deemed “perfection”. But I’m very old, and I prefer a bit of wobble in my ear missus...- 194 replies

Stamford Bridge had a terrible pitch until the 90’s. It’s like a billiard table now. I think it’s a good thing.- 194 replies
