  1. I get it when I’m walking and a tune will start in my head at the pace I’m walking. Then I have to keep walking at that pace, otherwise it spoils the song. It’s a nightmare in crowded streets when some Ramones tune appears out of the blue 💨
  2. £18 posted? Passive volume and tone control plus piezo and jack kit. New and unused, bought for a lockdown project that I didn’t manage to start. price includes p&p

  3. What’s under the scratchplate? I quite like these without one on, but not if it exposes wires or holes. Thanks.
  4. Yeah, it’s not made in Lagney thankfully.
  5. No need Jon, I’ll have a look at what else I’ve got. PM me an address.
  6. Got a bass neck you’re welcome to. Would you like pictures and measurements? John
  7. And a foster home has been found. Please close now Mods.
  8. If she doesn’t find a foster home, I may sand her down and give her a nice rockabilly paint job.
  9. That’s got me out of trouble 🥵
  10. it’s obviously not an original, but…. Had no idea this was posted on YouTube. I was helping these guys test their new camera and audio kit. A mate sent me the link. Not sure how I feel about it as I hate my voice and hate seeing myself on camera. It’s why I play bass for others, so I can hide. But I guess it’s out there now, and you only grow when you put the lights on.
  11. Oh that is lovely, good job! 😎
  12. I was chatting to a colleague at work on Wednesday who casually mentioned that he had cut down a load of Ash trees on his property over the years and used it for fire wood. When he described the size of the remaining trunks, I suggested he stops burning them.
  13. Phew! 🥳
  14. Will the outcome involve tuners at unnecessary angles and a sharpie????
  15. I don’t have room for 2 DB’s anymore with the number of guitars I seem to have acquired recently (they just appear, it’s weird). Anyhoo I’ve got my very old beater bass that plays great, sounds lovely but looks like it’s been in the ring with Mike Tyson (although it still has its ears). Over the years it’s had more structural and cosmetic work done than Ms Price, but it’s all part of it’s charm. I’ve gigged it and recorded with it. It’s a big old thing. It has a very slim neck compared to my B&H. Thought someone who’s fancied the idea of having a DB around to try but doesn’t want the outlay before they buy one, or someone who’s DB is in for repair and wants something to play. So available for loan if you’re prepared to come and pick it up from Bath. You can try it and decide. No case/cover or pick up included btw. It’s not worth a lot of money, but it’s precious to me and holds a lot of memories. I might be up for a loan swap for a P bass, but not a requirement. Here’s the money shot. Hope this is the right place to advertise.
  16. Reminds me…. “why was the guitarist standing outside in the rain?” ”coz he couldn’t find the key, or know when to come in” Obvs insert musician of choice to substitute guitarist…
  17. I agree that for many guitarists, an effect/tone/clean/od is very important. I just wonder if sometimes it’s more of a priority than other (less exciting) aspects of playing? I appreciate that accessing a new or exciting effect or tone can be very inspiring.
  18. I often wonder about priorities. Would a healthier order of priority be: Right notes Right timing Right feel Right bass Right tone I’ve played with people who obsessed about the last bit above all. It’s a mystery to me. If you can’t play the song well without plugging in, then you can’t play the song well plugged in. But then again I don’t have any pedals so I’ve never fallen down that rabbit hole, probably due to the type of music I’ve always played. It must feel good when you find a pedal setting you like though. 😎
  19. Gareth sold me the coolest bass I’ll ever own. Perfect gentleman throughout, took care of everything. Many thanks Gareth, top man.
  20. This is interesting to read. It’s been a while since being involved in church music, but it’s sad to hear the same issues still come up. I’ve experienced this both as a “band member” and as the “leader”. Receiving set list 10 minutes before service starts. But also sending set list with keys and basic arrangements out fortnight beforehand and some of the musicians not looking at it until 10 minutes before the service starts. Or if they have, completely ignoring it 😂 I see some of the “problems” stemming from within organisations, telling worship leaders or musicians that they are the best thing since sliced bread, in an attempt to be “encouraging”. But all it does is lead people into thinking they needn’t improve. The sort of encouragement I need is: “that’s great, but what are you doing to improve your musicianship, communication, people skills, mental and spiritual health, etc and how may we help you to do this?” I tried this but it often fell on deaf ears.
  21. That’s great. If he rejects the offer, it’ll fit sideways. It’ll change sounds every time he sits down.
  22. Oh I hate that! One frontman guitarist I played with used to faff with his amp, or tune his guitar between songs, and not muted either but by asking the other guitarist for a note. It was embarrassing and completely disengaged the audience. I ended up filling in the gaps with jokes or comments with individuals in the crowd, just to keep the audience attention. He didn’t like it as we weren’t a “stand up” act. No, it was a joke though. I Left and took drummer and keys player with me. I’m sure it’s nerves with these people, but prepare and rehearse your “sound” beforehand please. 😡

  24. It’s his equivalent Squier series.
  25. Probably should go in technical and repairs, or jokes, but I’ll leave it here.
