  1. I did 3 circuits with one bass, if there’s a category for buying the same bass? Black Status Groove 5 string. Lap 1: Bought- Sold- Regret- Tracked down- Lap2: Bought - sold- Regret- Tracked down- Lap3: Bought -sold - Regret- fell over.
  2. I love listening to Russian choirs. They’re Oktavists are amazing. Bb clear and loud. No pitch correction going on. I understand why artists/studios use pitch correction, it kind of fits in with the use of quantisation and compression to achieve some perception of what is deemed “perfection”. But I’m very old, and I prefer a bit of wobble in my ear missus...
  3. Stamford Bridge had a terrible pitch until the 90’s. It’s like a billiard table now. I think it’s a good thing.
  4. Mmm, not sure that’s a helpful statement young daddio. Neither you or are I are the arbiters of other people’s taste and preferences in music. We should defend people’s right to put whichever artist they want among the “greats” (whoever they are). It’s a bit snobbish otherwise.
  5. Dear listener, It takes a huge amount of discipline and concentration to play root note quavers over a 3-4 minute song, in time, with consistent tone, volume and “feel”. Kenny Passarelli was the master of this if you’d care to listen to his playing on “Rock of theWesties” Dennis Chambers on Fagans Kamakeriad. I dislike playing with musicians who can’t “sit” in a simple groove without slowing down, speeding up, changing volume or getting distracted by the voice in their heads saying “shiny! shiny! shiny! play something shiny!” So yes, Mr Lancaster and Coughlin are one of my favourite rhythm sections. Yours steadily, Kind regards, Boring of Bath
  6. If you think of your fingers as legs and the strings as a treadmill, then “rolling them across” the top of the string is more “efficient “ for volume, tone and speed control. But whatever works for you, what do you prefer?
  7. What do you prefer the sound of? That’s all that matters.
  8. How very dare you have a different opinion to me 😝
  9. Listening to the album this is from. Had to climb down from my high horse to admit how good this is.
  10. Favourite guitar tone. Townsend nails it. Least favourite: anything that sounds like a wasp in a biscuit tin....fizzy none sense. Sadly one of my favourite guitarists, Davey Johnstone is guilty of this with his lead playing back in the 70’s. ☹️
  11. Reluctantly watched the Noel Gallagher episode of the songwriters programme. I dismissed Oasis as overrated rip off merchants from their first appearance on TOTP in mid 90’s. Couldn’t stand the whining singer, hated the constant “we’re the greatest rock n roll band ever”, all the stories of fighting and cancelling tours half way through because of said fighting (f@@@ the fans). Couldn’t see what the hype was all about. So, what a surprise when I listened to Noel G talking about music, songwriting and his experience of working with David Holmes. It sounded like Mr Holmes wasn’t going to accept “Oasis rehashed” and made Noel G work hard at exploring new avenues of writing and production, rather than resting on a known formula. And Noel G listened.. Respect! Really enjoyed the interview. But more surprising was listening to his songs played by his current band, and without L Gallagher’s awful nasal whine. I really liked Noel’s voice and have a new found respect for his songwriting. Hasn’t changed my mind about Oasis, or L Gallagher, but I’ll certainly be buying “Who built the moon”. I wonder if I’d have felt the same about Oasis if Noel had fronted it from the start? But then again they wouldn’t have been as big as they were without the b00llox I guess.
  12. Who can forget the great Alvin Stardust coup kachoo of 74?
  13. Someone on eBay “modifies” them for those with larger digits. PM me for details.
  14. Sorry. He’s sat down! His left thumb position!! 🤦🏻‍♂️ He’s probably got a music stand just out of site! That shirt! No “passion” (ie no histrionics/face pulling/he obvs doesn’t “mean it”)! Pedals anyone? Where are the pedals??? ps I love Pat Martino
  15. No such thing in any sphere. Ludicrous notion. Individual favourites, yes. Oh hold on....news just in...my wife is the greatest wife of all time.
  16. 14 pages in and I still don’t know which wood helps you play the most number of right notes and which is the best wood type for timing? Can someone please do some comparison videos? 🤡
  17. I think it’s all good. Some can hear a difference, some can’t. For some it’s important, for others it’s not. Not sure what arguments achieve on these topics. 🙏
  18. Schoolboy error. Always ask a local where you can score some puff.
  19. Cool! Antonia is great, good b/v too. Small world indeed.
