  1. Whoa there!! Are you trying to break the internet? (.coming here with yer..bleedin’ reasoned argument..)
  2. I agree, I love the simplicity of a 51P design. Found it here Mick. https://jayscottguitar.com/what-my-builders-are-up-to-fretless-51-p-bass/
  3. Add that to wanty wanty please. Lush. As Frank asked, what is it?
  4. Both or either (both!) of these P’s please Bob.
  5. Someone in the band has to bring equilibrium to flouncing singers/psychotic drummers/“it should have been me” guitarists/and the inevitable paisley shirt of the keyboarderist. At least that’s why I ended up on bass.
  6. Brendon! “Need” is such an unhelpful word, particularly when preceded by “don’t”. 😜
  7. Sold Got this before Christmas along with a Jazz neck and it was the neck I was really after. Can’t see myself doing anything with this anytime soon. It’s a funky looking body though and I love the colour. Would make a nice project or something to fettle with. Comes with a home cut pick guard by previous owner. Anyhoo, would like to cover postage and maybe a couple of packets of giant Wotsits. £20 posted. Or £10 collected from outside using my lengthy barge pole to measure social distancing.
  8. Looks like the long lost father of the Bongo.
  9. Chrome: Bridge, Machineheads, loaded control plate & knobs and neck plate/gasket. White scratchplate (still got plastic on which, as we know, adds thousands to its value) Everything new and unused, comes with screws, springs, ferrules, etc.
  10. So @Andyjr1515 @Jabba_the_gut@Cuzzie @PaulThePlug I’m thinking that sanding back the headstock face and staining it same colour as body, (obviously re-lacquer) might be a good call. The face isn’t the most even of lacquered finishes anyway. Thoughts very welcome. btw have gone for all black hardware instead of mixing with gold. Might look a bit “goth” mind 😂
  11. That was fun, thanks 😊 I can see wasting too much time on this 😂
  12. The neck and headstock is tinted lacquered Paul. Had thought about removing it and staining, but looks ok as is. Pearloid plate might work.
  13. Gone for the all over as I think your right Paul, bit “busy”. The back has come out well, but front still not behaving perfectly. So tomorrow will get scraping. Pick-guard on or off? If off, then the front cavity will look daft with the skinny pup in there. Maybe a soap bar in there? Or is there such a thing as a surround one can buy? Neck not attached yet, just for demo.
  14. So after a bit of elbow grease with sand paper and diluting the existing stain a bit, I’m now thinking of perhaps making it a feature with a slow fade from bare to rich stain, or definitive bare stripe. I have no time scale with this, so can be done and redone and then burnt along with any ideas of further guitar fettling 😂
  15. I had originally thought of using Crimson guitars water based lacquer after looking at their website. But thought I’d check here first. Just looked up cabinet scraper on YouTube. Looks ideal.
  16. I wouldn’t touch this government with a barge pole...... Oh hold on, sorry. Thanks Jabba 😊
  17. 🐄 🥛 milking your expertise even further.. the body I’m experimenting on is a cheap one, so I can practice on. I’ve come across this problem: I’m assuming the 2 pieces are joined with some glue that is preventing penetration? It’s the same on the front. Any tips? thanks John
