  1. Can I have it when you’ve finished with it please? I can arrange a courier. 🤓
  2. This! ☝🏻 I have to put time aside to listen to music. I cannot concentrate on anything else if music is on, work, reading, conversations. I can’t listen to music to go to sleep to as I’m thinking about what I’ve listened to, it actually stimulates my brain rather than relaxes it. I don’t listen to it in the car either. I get completely absorbed by what’s going on, production, lyrics, structure, instrumentation, harmony, melody, everything. It’s not helpful in social situations. I wish I could ignore it when it’s on, or just enjoy it in the background, but I can’t. You’re the first person I’ve heard describe the same thing. Radio is usually speech, news and sport. Thankfully my kids enjoy music all the time, so they’re not plums like their old man.
  3. I will try phoning later. However, I emailed the suggested service email address with no reply, so forwarded the email to the uk sales address and the name of the sales person. The sales department replied straightaway stating they would forward the message to the correct dept (which happens to be the service department I’d originally messaged!) Disappointing that sales are quick to reply, service is silent. Oh well.
  4. An Encore with that string tree?
  5. 8 replies in and this thread has already descended into complete and utter reasonableness.
  6. Any experience of Thomann’s response time to complaints? Had a double bass string break after a month on the bass. No response from email with picture and order details. Hoping for a replacement obviously, but don’t know how long to leave it? 2 weeks?
  7. Understatement Alert:: This subject can illicit some strong opinions. A formal music education should not be a barrier to creativity, in fact (in my experience) it can enhance the capacity for creativity. Even a small amount of theory knowledge. But what do I know. 😎
  8. Not a massive fan of the look. I like a boring P shape personally. But the tone that Spenner got, has stayed with me ever since those sweaty nights at Dingwalls.
  9. One thing I have experienced with clip on tuners on my DB’s is location, location, location. Some work on the scroll, others don’t, some work better on the bridge. So try a variety of placements before judging too harshly. Ref Snarks, I find they eat batteries at an alarming rate, and are as ugly as an ugly thing form ugly land.
  10. I really shouldn’t, but you know. I PJ with flats, one with rounds, one P with rounds, one with flats, ad Infinitum 🤦🏻‍♂️
  11. Am I missing something here? That seems good value!? The nut width is a little too “Jazz” for me, but I’m tempted.... Does the neck have side dots? And are they “on” where the fret lines would be, or in between as a fretted neck? Thanks, John
  12. Seeing Alan Spenner play one with Kokomo some 40 years or so ago, I wanted one for years after. But could never afford, my desire waned commensurate with my bank balance. 😳
  13. I’m guessing few people have heard of Deke Leonard. And although I’d much prefer to have heard his interesting and amusing anecdotes, sadly the general public will presumably be more interested in Noel Gallagher’s cliches, told in his oh so interesting and intelligent manner. The nucklehead (or whatever) wot was sat with him, reminded me of the classic moron who appears from behind the bully waving a fist whilst saying “yeah”. Anyways, I enjoyed it for what it was. And brought back some happy memories.
  14. That, Nick, would be a lovely partner to my PJ. Beautiful, and much prefer the board on yours to the (pau ferro?) MM 5’er I had. GLWTS
  15. Got some vague memories of jamming with members of Hawkwind and Teardrop Explodes there, after bumping into them in a local hostelry. My band were at the rehearsal studio bit for the weekend. One of Hawkwind had locked himself in the studio as I recall. It was the early 80’s, so my mullet would have been present to witness the whole chemically enhanced debacle.
  16. So do I. Great musician, seems like a nice person & cool as anything. I have a sad and creepy crush on Ms Spalding too. 🤓
  17. I didn’t see that at the time, could have been an edit? Maybe someone got in touch?
  18. List of infractions Ms Dorsey incurred. - Serves the song? Pah! - Plays the model of bass the BL wants and doesn’t jack the gig in? - Needs lines on a fretless? - Learns the songs and Writes out charts in several keys “just in case”? - Works at getting as close a tone as the original bass recording? - Isn’t quite sure how active basses work? - Plays the clarinet? - Doesn’t really do slap???!!! Seryasslee who’d hire someone like that? Should’ve been me, I’d’ve shown Bowie/Kravitz my chops on whatever bass I want, so there nerr! Isn't she just fab 😠😤😡 yours, bitter of Bath.
  19. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/224081591259 Fender’s decal application standards were particularly shoddy that week.
  20. I believe it refers to a trombone player. However......your decision to refrain from the google search is probably a wise choice.
  21. Dudley Moore. Roger Moore. Bodmin Moor. Lewis no Moooor. Do you want more Moore or less?
