No plans to go up north, but if it helps in any small way, I live and work in central Bath. So if logistics mean that a potential “relay racer” is passing by Bath at a time not convenient to you Stew, I’ll happily meet them and hold the item for you. Getting it to Norton isn’t a problem after that. All the above done with masks, gloves and hand sanitiser of course.

Ampeg Portabass 2x12 cab with New Celestion drivers. Bought this to match my Portabass amp. Unfortunately the drivers were awful. Sounded like 2 wasps shagging in a biscuit tin (and I should know). Apparently this was due to the original neo drivers not having passed QA by Ampeg engineers, but the marketing dept had already started the promotional show, and won the battle with the designers. Sadly this meant that the Portabass range didn’t last. Which is a shame as the head is a peach. The amp tech I use was drooling over the circuitry when I asked him to give the amp a “once over” and service anything that needed sorting out. And it sounds gert lush, that ain’t going nowhere. So I asked our band tech to look at replacing the speakers. So it now has 2 Celestion BL12 200 4ohm ferrite drivers wired in series, so it’s an 8ohm cab. I wanted that so I could add another 8 ohm cab if and when. It sounds lovely and warm, and has not been out of the house since I bought it 6-7 months ago, so drivers are not played in, at all. The tweeter dial turns, but I can’t hear any discernible difference. It’s in place and wired in, so could be my hearing, or it doesn’t work? I never use them, or disconnect them with all cabs I have bought. So made no difference to me. The cover is a little tatty in places, and the wheels/handle contraption had been removed when I bought it. But the 2 handles are more than enough to carry it. And it’s surprisingly light imho. Wifey moves it around and she ain’t Geoff Capes, I’ve checked, she’s not, definitely. Its construction is out of Italian poplar plywood Dimensions: 27.5 x 17 x 15.5 in. Original weight 38lbs I have a 1x12 cab that will meet my needs as I don’t intend gigging anything other than an occasional DB gig, when that happens? I am really after a trade for a fretted P bass type of thing of an equivalent value, although cash is fine. Sorry won’t courier (yes, yes I know) but will meet up as far as an hours’ drive, or you can come and pick it up in Bath. (A car would be better, but a bath will be big enough to put the cab in). Enough of this silliness. Any questions? No? Good! Move on. Thanks John

Looks nice. Interesting patterns. (Although I hate it when builders put fingerboard fret markers in the middle of the “fret” on a fretless?) -
Yes, this unfortunate manufacturer’s logo bottle top houses a transducer mic, for acoustic instruments. Working order, except adhesive missing (I used gaffa tape). Got it for my Tea Chest bass. I’ll include a jack cable. Handover (using whichever govt guidelines are being currently ignored by govt officials and general public that week) or postage (included).

There were a couple of genuine laugh out loud moments for me (including the “mobile studio”). But overall the programme was probably longer than necessary.

Don’t reckon they owned any ships either. Mind you, if you’re going to be lied to, then it might as well be by Scott. He could sing the Yellow Pages and make it sound wonderful. In fact he did once, took a while before he got to the number I wanted, but it was worth it. Sadly the guitar “restorer” I was after didn’t answer. 🤡

Just put one in my “shopping basket”. Can’t do any harm there can it? It’s not like I’ve bought one or anything? Just in the basket, sitting there safe and sound from slappy’s grasp 😌 -

Ooh just had a look at those. Not slabbed body from the pics? I like chunky necks, and weight not an issue for home use. Ideal for “modding” too. -

Thing is, I’m a fan of Mr Sumner, as a musician and composer. But don’t feel the need to advertise it every time I play. Bit sad really. -
Dear Mr PO Darkness, Regarding the facial expression described. People are more likely to think you are grumpy than “insane”. However, I do understand that “peeved” lacks the necessary dark and threatening gravitas, and would be incongruous with the musical accompaniment offered by his Royal lefthandedness. Kind regards Mr I. Man

I’d be up for buying one of these, if the 12th fret didn’t have one those! -

Unfortunately these days I’d have to tape a set list onto the back of one of the backing vocalists to be able to see it. In their words “John, you have the best view in the house”.....I try hard each gig not to look like some old letch, so iPad on a mic stand, gaze averted, job done. But set list on floor or monitor is traditionally more “RnR”. It’s just too far away to see. 🤦🏻♂️
