  1. Unfortunately these days I’d have to tape a set list onto the back of one of the backing vocalists to be able to see it. In their words “John, you have the best view in the house”.....I try hard each gig not to look like some old letch, so iPad on a mic stand, gaze averted, job done. But set list on floor or monitor is traditionally more “RnR”. It’s just too far away to see. 🤦🏻‍♂️
  2. I use one live and in the studio. Loads of app options for set lists, or get a pen so you can “write” your crib sheets on Word or PDF sheets and organise them however you need Nick. I use a mic stand holder, and as HJ said screen enlargement is so useful. Go for it.
  3. If the buyer doesn’t want the pickup cover Stew.... let me know please. I’m not far from Midsomer murders. John
  4. Myth Esperanza Spalding Myth Gail Anne Dorsey Myth Suzie Quatro Ive heard of all of these. Sorry, it’s been a slow day so far today. I’ll put Bargain Hunt on.
  5. Quite. Along with “the more notes I play, the more (I will finally gain my dads approval) people will like me” And “I’m not bitter that Adam Clayton is filthy rich” (see above) Also see ”Small droplets of theory brings on COVID 19” 🤦🏻‍♂️🥳🤡
  6. Only if you’re wearing it at the time please.
  7. Sharpie on the headstock = + £££‘S 🤑
  8. Why over complicate the concept?
  9. I bought a bass. It was ok, but for the money it was good. Sold it within a month or so. But I bought a classical at the same time, it was superb value for money. Really well made, cut away body, sounded great and after a quick set up with new strings and lowering the saddle, played very well. Kept that for about 4-5 years. Gave it away in the end as I bought a higher end Yamaha. I’d buy another in a heartbeat, but can’t find one anywhere.
  10. First time I’ve listened to any IM. Listening on headphones, I didn’t think his “clank” was unpleasant. I find CS’s “clank” too much, but he played a ClankStick and was his sig sound. A couple of things I was surprised at though: It’s quite unusual to me to see 3 guitarists all playing Strats, usually one will have a LP or some kind of pointy headstock, no? I found myself holding my breath listening to the singer, thinking “breath you bugger, breath”, bit like when I watch someone struggling underwater in a film. I’m off to do some Air Lunges. Thanks for posting.
  11. Pierre Brock. Loved his playing with Robert Palmer. He did a bit with some outfit called Gibson Brothers, but no idea of what he did since. His playing on “Woman you’re wonderful” is fab.
  12. Presumably designed and knocked up on a Friday afternoon by the eminent Welsh pugilist Percy Jones? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254600687204

  14. This track always makes me happy
  15. Technique “rights and wrongs” have been long argued here and elsewhere. When I was a tutor, I did introduce certain left and right hand positions for new starters. This was generally to help efficiency of movement and to hopefully avoid muscular or skeletal issues later on. However, it didn’t over bother me if someone had “unique” and entrenched hand or finger positioning, it was the students choice after all. If they were developing their musical palette, achieving the goals that motivated them and were enjoying playing the instrument, then fab! CS’s thumb has probably been in all sorts of positions, and good on it, I say. I wouldn’t have told him where to shove it.
  16. A gentleman never reveals where his thumb has been placed. I do love it when iconic/influential musicians don’t have much clue about the gear they use or theory, (in the same detail) as perhaps less well known keeners. It appears less important somehow? 😂
  17. Is his bass short scale? The neck looks er..short..😊 or was CS particularly large?
  18. The headstock!
  19. I went to spocsuvers now my eys are mugh butter.
  20. I say! This does seem to be jolly good VFM
  21. I’ve noticed that my leather strap needs more cleaning after a gig than my basses (which gets a wipe down). If I leave it in the case then it gets nasty 😷 But I’m not as clean as you Rob, you must smell lovely 😊
  22. There’s enough Cummings and goings on here as it is Mickey.
