  1. Quite like the look of that. So he’s either saying that if he discovers the length of the bass in total is over 105 cm he’ll have to remove the neck to dispatch it, or he’ll decapitate himself or someone else. Blimey!
  2. Pretty sure I know what that is. Just not sure if I can recreate something in a rush to move the thread along. Sorry, I probably come across as a fly by night, but I’m supposed to be working from home.
  3. Thanks, been listening to the Herbie Hancock one. Interesting guy. Lovely double bass playing and tone too.
  4. 16 year old me with my 1st bass. Built by school mate for A level A&D in 76. His name is Gary Nava and went on to do quite well in the luthier business. http://www.navaguitars.co.uk/index.html
  5. What great playing, technique and stories. But this has been my favourite video so far. Humble and human, vulnerable and thoughtful. Love you Lee!
  6. 8 string Hamer Explorer unlined fretless 😍
  7. Oh I am so glad I didn’t see that when I was 18...would have blown my mind, and wages.
  8. Great pictures peeps. I wonder if the vinyl LP was the “golden era” of inspiration (through images) of the band with their instruments? Gawping at the players “stage lunge” (steady...) whilst dreaming of owning their axe of choice, all at the same time as listening to the rumble (or twang) of the P, J, T-bird or ClankStick.... Happy Daze. 😊
  9. And one I couldn’t aspire to. Knocking my front teeth out aside, I’d have to have shrunk half my height. But oh my what a player 😎
  10. Yes, his unlined fretless Ibby and P and general coolness was an influence for sure.
  11. I listened to a couple of my favourite tracks last week. Very “trippy” but the clarity was surprising, it felt like I heard parts I’ve not heard before. As @ClassicVibes said, listen with headphones, close your eyes abd enjoy the ride.
  12. Geddy cites this image of Tomsk as a major influence.
  13. ....No! Not Those images! Filthy minds the lot of you... I saw this image of Chris Glenn when I were a wee lad and thought...”That’s cool, I’m gonna be a bass player” Foot on the monitor, glaring at the crowd. Also fell in love with 51 P/Tele bass shape at the same time. Any pictures/album sleeves that got your “Bass” attention? Sorry if this has been done before.
  14. Really enjoyed that. I like the imagery he uses to describe the different bass parts. As @KingPrawn said, I thought his comments on slap bass were indeed spot on. Thanks.
  15. I’ve put this on my watch list. I’m genuinely shocked that he’s charging anything for it, let alone the amount! The description is “creative” at best. I want to see if anyone buys it. And if they do, I’m going to sell them my used pants, advertised as a Gucci balaclava.🙄
  16. Bit O’ Edgar Winter? Or Stevie Ray Vaughan? Lnnnnrrd Sknnnrrrd?
  17. He’d probably be fine Paul. He only dislikes country. Said nothing about Western.
  18. Well, when you can’t find bog roll, needs must.....
  19. Can’t see the article now Jon, but I thought he said he’d helped with testing and design of the pickups and something to do with hardware?. 🙂
