  1. “Build” diary on back of fag packet.
  2. This shouldn’t really come under build diary, as it’s more like a bodged 5 minutes. But nonetheless here’s some pictures and video of the simplest and crudest build evah! Old TeaChest bought off eBay for £17 locally as I couldn’t find one cheaper or free! Strimmer line Broom handle. Nail with head removed. Couple of washers. Drilled a hole in the middle and in the corner where broom handle would sit and in top of handle. Threaded strimmer line through box and secured it with a washer and knot. Did the same the other end after finding a rough length and tension that sounded ok. Inserted nail into other end of broom handle to sit in the corner hole. This is to avoid handle slipping. There you have it. 15 minutes and I’ve got Alemb*c, Fed@r# and a certain lovely someone in Moffat quaking in their shoes!! 😂 Any questions must be sent to my legal team and the taste police. 3. Did anyone here write/email/Twit/farcebook the BBC to voice their displeasure/disappointment/discomfort regarding the show? Seems the most productive thing to do. If you pay for a product you’re not happy with, complain to the source, rather than arguing about it elsewhere. I’m starting a new thread titled “All hootenanny threads are the same”
  4. Sure. If you could let me know the added cost that would be great, thank you.
  5. Why does every TE bargain have to be as far from Bath as possible!!! 😡 https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F223828043415
  6. Anyone have any thoughts on these? Got offered one and I’ve no experience of them. Mostly double bass, but also electric on occasion. The example is old, but in great condition. I’m not worried about low watts as it’s only for on stage monitoring most of the time. Thanks John
  7. As @MacDaddy has pointed out, the building will be a big factor. Couple of other things to be aware of, based on my experience a few years ago. Congregation demographic can influence what is tolerated volume and frequency-wise. I played in one church where the bass might as well have been silent as the congregation didn’t like the “frequency”. Older Keyboard players can often have a classical background and will be used to “taking care” of bass lines with their left hand. So I would often politely have to ask them to move their left hand to the right, before I taped it behind their back. However, It can be a good opportunity to develop your improv and listening skills as there are very few ready written parts, mostly chord charts. If it’s a gospel style church.... then I envy you, great bass lines to develop! Usually an encouraging environment, depending on the BL, but keep listening to the BL during the “set” and most of all be nice to work with. Oh yeah, always play fretless psalm 37: “do not fret....” Things may be different these days of course as it’s been a long time since I visited a church let alone played in one. But either way, it’s nice that you have jumped at the opportunity, shows an enthusiasm and motivation to be part of things. Cheers John
  8. I did an interesting thing this year, I used the TV remote and switched channels each time I wasn’t enjoying a programme. Its changed my life and those around me. 🥳
  9. I had a 5’er in same finish too. Gert pretty. And ridiculous value for the money, just like this.
  10. As previous owner of the neck, I can vouch for its beautiful rosewood board and excellent playability. Also @Raslee is a true gent! GLWTS
  11. Do you normally stand behind static keys? If so, how was it for you to have the freedom to wander (like you did)? Thought the Keytar’s shape at the left end had a certain “axe” type shape, perhaps suited to the genre? Although a black one would have been even better? Having said that I’ve no idea about Doom, but I liked what I heard. It’s a far cry from the Western swing/Skiffle I play in one band these days😂 Great to be on same bill as bands you like! Nice one.
  12. Done sir, but halfway through the edit I forgot the full title. Soz. But it’s all the same.
  13. Ah that makes sense. I thought someone had interfered with the title of my very sensible thread. So I changed it back. However if you wish to change it back to the original change so that the original title is changed to the first change you changed it to then, that’s fine. I’ll be happy, which makes a change. Bye
  14. SOLD Samson C01 mic in hard case, with SP04 cradle. Both Bought last year, never used. Perfect condition. £45 includes P&P.
  15. Right! you lot are all off yer trollies, what with threads about all things being equal and the same as dejavu all over again. Well my man Keb here reckons that there’s more worserer threads a comin’ from you nutters....in fact the worst is yet to come. Love me a bit o’ Keb
  16. In the light of several recent threads, I felt I should, in the interest of science/justice, to clear up an argument older than an old thing “Tone is in the fingers” I played the same riff, for the same length, through the same amp, with the same setting, with each individual finger in turn. I then put the fingers down, and repeated the same exercise, this time using my own fingers. The results were (as I’d expected) quite predictable. All my fingers sounded the same to me. I now feel somewhat foolish, having collected 4 fingers and a thumb, twice over!!! Turns out I only needed one. So I’m keeping the middle one and selling the rest, to buy more Chilean merlot. Happy nude year!
  17. Reminds me of when I was in a trio called the Symbolics. I was Sym The other 2 were .., well.....rubbish.
  18. You’re better off away from people who:- 1- Can’t tell you face to face 2- Can’t tell you themselves by phone 3-Get someone else to make the call 4- Make childish threats if they don’t get their own way. Find some adults to play with, is the only advice I can offer. I got sacked from a band for showing a general lack of commitm
