  1. FYI the guy I got the TeaChest from has got a load in his barn. They’re on eBay, he’s near Chippenham and at just under £20 were the cheapest I could find local to me. Can’t believe how much some people are selling them for! 😳
  2. Well, got the Tea chest. Now to start the complex job of attaching a broom handle to it with some string. I’ll start a “build” thread and answer the many questions I anticipate being asked, such as -Why? Because I can/can’t (let’s see). -Scale length? Off the. -Any good for met.. shut up! Thanks
  3. That answers the obvious question: Green budgies are best for metal.
  4. All budgies sounds the same too. I’ve got a green one and a blue one. I can’t tell the difference, it’s stupid to say you can. I did a blindfold test but they kept flying into the walls. I’m sick of it.
  5. Typical guitarist, doesn’t practice between gigs and bass player has to show him how it goes! Amateur!
  6. How much are the used polychromes? And the prestos? Thanks
  7. My current collection of a bitsa PJ fretless (and nothing else) is my favourite. Covers all I need.
  8. This is spooky (well not really), but I’ve been a flats on my P fanboy for a long time, however I’ve recently changed the set on my fretless to a used set of Nickel wounds. I have to say, they are very nice. And for the JBEx genre suit nicely. Might have to watch the board getting marked, but I’ll see how they sound at next gig, but I’m pleasantly surprised.
  9. Sorry Jack not local, but Western Star near Bath kinda specialise in the genre. Alan Wilson has a good reputation. Probably not helpful, but in case you don’t find anything nearby. Best wishes with your search. John
  10. What? When? I’ll have to do some searching.
  11. I’ve been enjoying it too. On a personal “taste” level, I’d like to have seen a bit more Western Swing content, love me a bit o’ Hank Thompson. But typical excellent Ken Burns, really enjoyed his documentaries on Civil War and The West.
  12. Well he’s not getting my support! I’m still wearing it.
  13. I’m working in Norton right now. I’m coming over with the ClankStick Police.
  14. I’ve seen someone playing one with a drum stick (hitting the string), so am thinking of doing the same. One man rhythm section. I play drums too, so will possibly attach a small splash to the box. I can see this getting a life of its own!
  15. Well I’ve actually sourced a big ol’ Tea Chest locally today. So perhaps I’m committed now. Watch for comedy build diary which will be very short, but I’ve got some ideas on making it a bit different.
  16. Thinking about it the manager probably Shagged a Lag
  17. It’s still illegal to Shang a Lang apparently.
  18. What got me referring to punk was remembering the excitement when I was 15/16 when punk exploded in 76. I hear and feel a similar energy, diy mentality, “anyone can do this” attitude in the early skiffle stuff I’ve been listening to. Just less gobbing 😂
  19. Do we have a comedy corner thread? 😂 But yes I will of course.
  20. Ah ok. I do tend to get a bit carried away.😊 Be fun making one though 🥳
  21. What a great story, and exciting to be at the beginning of the revolution 😎 Do you play in the South West at all? Love to come and listen. If this works out, I will give serious consideration to making a TeaChest bass. 😊 The BL wants an authentic approach as possible.
