Images that made you want to play bass
oldslapper replied to oldslapper's topic in General Discussion
Yes, his unlined fretless Ibby and P and general coolness was an influence for sure. -
I listened to a couple of my favourite tracks last week. Very “trippy” but the clarity was surprising, it felt like I heard parts I’ve not heard before. As @ClassicVibes said, listen with headphones, close your eyes abd enjoy the ride.

Nice! Let’s say it’s this one 😊 -
....No! Not Those images! Filthy minds the lot of you... I saw this image of Chris Glenn when I were a wee lad and thought...”That’s cool, I’m gonna be a bass player” Foot on the monitor, glaring at the crowd. Also fell in love with 51 P/Tele bass shape at the same time. Any pictures/album sleeves that got your “Bass” attention? Sorry if this has been done before.

Really enjoyed that. I like the imagery he uses to describe the different bass parts. As @KingPrawn said, I thought his comments on slap bass were indeed spot on. Thanks.

Rehearsing online during CV isolation - tips & advice
oldslapper replied to stewblack's topic in General Discussion
It’s grim. 👏🏻 -
I’ve put this on my watch list. I’m genuinely shocked that he’s charging anything for it, let alone the amount! The description is “creative” at best. I want to see if anyone buys it. And if they do, I’m going to sell them my used pants, advertised as a Gucci balaclava.🙄

Seller doesn't like country music
oldslapper replied to ricksterphil's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
He’d probably be fine Paul. He only dislikes country. Said nothing about Western. -

Can’t see the article now Jon, but I thought he said he’d helped with testing and design of the pickups and something to do with hardware?. 🙂 -

Those machine heads will fit........
oldslapper replied to mrn1989's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Looks like a “Highway One” with those machineheads. So perhaps not such a good price? Let’s hope he hasn’t touched the nut, otherwise that’ll need replacing. -
Biggest Bass Drop... EVER!!! #Edit:It's come to my attention that the term “Bass Drop" is not universal so may I add that this thread is asking for members to share their favourite Outstanding Bass moments in songs & has nothing to do with dropping fish*

Blimey! I must be the only person to have used the system without an issue. 😲 Sent guitars, and smaller musical items without a hitch. Hope you sort it @lonestar 👍🏻

Check the postage address. It should be the Staffordshire one, if so don’t contact the seller to arrange anything.
-
If it’s done through eBay global service, you don’t have to do a thing. Just send it to the eBay distribution centre in Staffordshire and they take care of the rest. The buyer pays eBay direct the additional shipping costs.

Actually wanted to be either a rockstar or footballer. But I’ve just gone with “the flow”, having a very understanding wife, and one step somehow has connected with the next step. Never been happier going to work each day. Rockstar/footballer/therapist? I would end up seeing grown men cry one way or another 😊

Similar coping strategies to prison staff.

Great thread 😊 Group therapy. Mostly with angry or violent men. Love my job. Stopped full time music to do it as I found it more fulfilling. I’m happier musically as a result. I got there via banking, retail, scaffolder, bottle washing (literally), builders merchant, addiction counselling, prison, probation, teaching and musician. My CV is not “linear”. 🤪

Stuff you bought and never used (but still have it)
oldslapper replied to leschirons's topic in General Discussion
Yes! Forgot about that. 😂 Used it once in 20 years or so.
