  1. Ah ok. I do tend to get a bit carried away.😊 Be fun making one though 🥳
  2. What a great story, and exciting to be at the beginning of the revolution 😎 Do you play in the South West at all? Love to come and listen. If this works out, I will give serious consideration to making a TeaChest bass. 😊 The BL wants an authentic approach as possible.
  3. Nice stuff! 😊 I’ve played in a swing quartet that did a few uptempo tunes and, as you say, audiences love it. Listening to LD’s Cumberland Gap was a revelation! So much energy. Thanks for the recommendation too I’ll check them out.
  4. Not a genre I have given serious consideration to before, however I’ve been asked to join a new “project” by someone who I respect a great deal. Never one to turn down an opportunity to try something new musically, I said yes. Did a bit of homework and was surprised at the high energy and some great bass playing on old school Lonnie D recordings. I have, to my shame, rather snobbishly viewed skiffle and LD as novelty music. It’s proper punk energy some of it. But I’m going to have to up my stamina and get my slap chops up to scratch, particularly the syncopated lines that are quite groovy! Any tips on players to look out for/ listen to from you Skifflers? Cheers John
  5. Your amp/cab is a great set up for most situations I think. Small, light, portable and all the power you should need. Maybe look at something different pedal wise (although the B3 has some love here) I’m not a fan of multi effects, so perhaps some individual pedals to cover whatever your set list require? Compressor, overdrive, envelope filter for your funk?
  6. Need a replacement for the above. Ashdown quote £160 for replacement before labour. Before I go down that line, has anyone any suggested alternative sources please? Thanks for any advice.
  7. The black one (front middle) is the coolest looking bass IMHO. Reminds me of 15 year old me watching punk bands in 76 and drooling over a low slung Ric. Bought a lined fretless sometime in the 80’s, but didn’t get on with it ergonomically and ended up with a P which I found more comfy, but not as sexy looking. Tried one at a Dorset bash a few years ago, hoping like *#@€ to get on with it, but sadly it was still a no. But by then I was firmly attached to P basses. Horses for courses n all that.
  8. I have no “beef” with Mr Hall and I actually really like the look of a classic 4001. But I’ve enjoy the humour on this thread though, most of which I think is not borne out of hatred, vitriol or resentment, but out of general banter. However if it is deemed offensive or in poor taste, or trolling then fair enough. 🥳
  9. That’s a fantastic idea. Might give some to my daughter to do. Thanks for posting.
  10. Wonder how many “copies” are out there? 🤭
  11. It always has looked a cool read, but an uncomfortable one, with an edge or two to it. 🥴
  12. It’s certainly a deal with no strings attached!
  13. Now the anxious wait for delivery 🥺
  14. I think it’s fab that you’re playing different instruments, (or different versions of). For me it keeps the old grey cells challenged and the creative juices flowing. 😎
  15. Buy it! Buy it! Buy it! Make yourself a low ball offer, you never know, your resolve might break! But not too low, otherwise you’ll start a thread about cheapskates and you’ll have to out yourself. 🤪
  16. 😆 Its quite a way from me Mick, but if it stays at that price I might have to make an excuse for a drive. 🤦🏻‍♂️
  17. You’re only making it worse for yourself!
  18. Hi, have they been cut for fender 4 in Lind style headstock? If so I’ll take the nickel set please. Thanks John
