    Frets? Nice figuring? Hollow body?
  2. Blimey we’re dripping over ourselves! .... Its lard not to.
  3. Guys ...dair-y say.. I think we’re milking this.
  4. Don't know, not herd it......🤪
  5. Possible Investment opportunity? Rarity value.
  6. Place bid or make an offer? Maybe someone could offer to finish building the bass? 🤪 Beauty is in the eye of the beholder of course. 😊
  7. Noted sir. 👍🏻 I’ll weigh in a mo and edit post, sorry should have weighed.
  8. PJ bass put together by young @Beedster of this ‘ere gaff. Weighs 9lbs Neck sourced from USA by Chris, which as you can see had been lacquered at some point, and not finished particularly well at the heel, but never bothered me. Amazing beautiful dark rosewood board with the lovely 62 neck profile (wide-ish, but flatter) very comfy. He Put it together with this PJ configured P body It's been fully shielded, and wired with CTS pots and Tonerider Pickups with V, V, T controls, plus two are push/pull pots which are; A series/parallel on the P pickup volume control for the P pickup (single coil type tone) The other putting both jazz and P pickup in series (full big humbucker tone) The bass plays nicely, great array of tones, balances well and comes strung with flats and in a hard case and some spare strings. I’d prefer to hand over at this stage, either coming to Slappy Towers in Bath, or meet up within a reasonable drive time. I’ll consider postage if there’s no local traffic. I may consider separating neck and body if there are a couple of peeps interested in them. I’m going to say body £180 & neck £120 posted, as long I have both confirmed as wanted. Selling as I only have 2 basses at any one time and my Kramer aluminium does all things fretted and I have an incoming fretless. Any questions do ask.
  9. I reckon so Mick. Been after a decent unlined fretless and just bought some lovely hide glue for my double bass project.
  10. Do you ever come over the bridge to Bristol? I appear to be in restoration mode having bought a load of stuff for a double bass restoration. Unlined fretless too!! Mmmm I’d be very interested. Thanks pm. John
  11. Same scam when I was teaching. “Son (always a son) is over from USA/Nigeria/Burnley/etc for 2 weeks, teach him every day, I’ll pay you in advance, etc etc, give me your bank details and I’ll put the money in there ..like now” Knobs!
  12. It would appear from this that people prefer no fuss instructional videos. No life stories, histrionics, fannying about, etc.... Mmmm🧐
  13. This. There are online resources you can access, from rhyming apps to writing courses and writing communities. Collaborating with other writers is good practice, particularly if they’re lyric minded. You can learn a lot from how others phrase things. I picked up tips from collaborating, such as compiling a list of titles, looking through papers/magazines for catchy titles (they pay people to do this, so they’re often quite good at writing a headline). My song “Freddie Starr ate my hamster” was a hit in many areas of my imagination 🤪 But the best tip is to write loads, even if they’re full of cheesy phrases, or a little embarrassing to you, eventually you’ll start to develop a lyrical language you’re comfortable with. I try and ensure prosody is adhered to whenever possible (the lyric matches or is supported by the melody). Oh and “write about what you know” is often easier and more honest, particularly at first. Have fun!!!
  14. Sorry folks, I’ve just picked it up. Nice chat with Joe. I’ll maybe do a repair diary.
  15. I know this guy gets a lot of stick here, but you can see why with this sort of thing!!! Not wearing a mask when using glue will lead to this sort of thing.
  16. Fair enough. I don’t know much about valve amps, but I guess if they only distort at high volumes then you have no choice. Just as an aside, do people here use rehearsals to find their sound? Perhaps you would if you’ve got new gear? I’m not officially in a band, just what seems to be a dep position that’s gone on for years 😂 but we don’t rehearse, so no one has to suffer my grumpy face when the guitarist goes to 11 on his talent dial. 🥳
  17. I did a year teaching music in prisons. Best fun I had was learning reggae from a couple of Jamaican “import/export professionals”. I was supposed to be the educator, not a chance, these guys showed me how to jam every week. Ive played most styles I think, but never played “metal” to my knowledge. Maybe I should try sometime but I think it’ll be too loud for my liking.
  18. I’d generally be happier lying down at a gig to be honest, preferably in another room/venue/town. Of course I take fig rolls to gigs, doesn’t everyone?! Now now you mention it, I have noticed a lack of biscuity comestibles by the rest of those toadies in the band. It’s all “core tone”, or “modal this” and “diatonic that” with them.....bugger off and pass me them biccies. 🤪
  19. Rehearsing new songs at high volume levels is unproductive IMHO........actually, rehearsing generally at stooopid volumes is a pet hate of mine. Just shows that people aren’t interested in hearing anyone but themselves. I actually really enjoy rehearsing with a band if:- Everyone has practiced their individual parts thoroughly. Volumes are low enough to hear each other. No ones drunk/stoned. I have a stool to sit on (I bring my own). There are Jaffa cakes, or fig rolls. If Partners/family/friends have to be in attendance, they shut up, or make some tea. (I often prefer a good rehearsal than having to gig) There..... I’ve said it.
