  1. I don’t mind where I’m position, as long as I’m as far away from the lead guitarist, their back line and monitor as possible. Nothing against what they play, but I can’t remember playing with a lead guitarist who is unable to have silly stage volumes. Being placed at the same side as the hi hat is often sensible but depends on the drummer, some of them I really don’t want to look at 🤪
  2. That’s lovely Steve! I miss having an upright, and old European ply’s are lovely. GLWTS. John
  3. Slappy through the ages. 16 years old with a fag, to 57 with specs! Check the mullet
  4. I tried, but kept changing my mind so gave up. Probably overanalysing. But did make me think, all my favourite musicians aren’t renowned for being virtuosos. So it wouldn’t be much of a supergroup. 😂
  5. My favourite era and line up. Sorry to the purists, but “whatevs” 🤪
  6. You’ll probably get suggestions via PM. .(....no one’s going to publicly declare of any knowledge of “stands” for stage) 🤫
  7. Beautiful! Bet that sounds glorious. Nice to see a lined fretless with dots ON the fret-lines. GLWTS
  8. Unless you’re from Somerset. Anyway, well done and glad you’re hooked! Your son dancing is a great win...better than the usual embarrassment 😎
  9. Best wishes for the gig. Remember to have a laugh, it’ll be over quicker than you think, so try and enjoy the experience. Even the most experienced of pros get nervous before a gig. Sounds like you’ll have an audience who will be rooting for you and won’t notice any mistakes, so relax, and a band who play together regularly so they’ll carry the weight. Great way of “coming out” as a bass player! 😎
  10. Their unlined fretless P’s always look nice & good value, but never played one. Curious.
  11. Those machineheads don’t look particularly well fitted, they’re a bit uneven? My guess is a bitsa.
  12. Bought a Groove 5’er, sold it. Bought it back off same buyer, sold it. Tracked it down, bought it back, sold it. Like a an old flame that is lots of “fun” and exciting when together initially, but long term we’ll never last. I’ve tried to buy an old Squier P bass bitsa back off an old student...many, many times, but she won’t budge. Keeps saying something about “sentimental” reasons, only bass she needs .... blah blah blah. I obviously failed her 🥴
  13. Nik bought some machineheads off me. The usual easy, smooth transaction along with great comms. Cheers John
  14. Mods! Mods! There’s been a breach! 😲
  15. To echo @Mykesbass so sorry to hear this. Also sounds like good advice regarding keeping the bass to help with focus, and “future” thinking. Best wishes. John
  16. Congratulations on your new bass! And welcome to the wonderful world of fretless 😎 In addition to the above advice, maybe have some fun practicing playing familiar patterns/riffs/songs without looking at the fretboard too much. Great way of training your ears, hearing intonation, and not as scary as it seems.
  17. Sorry to read of your reasons for the sale. These have wonderful necks. GLWTS
  18. That’s cool! Seems a good price too.
  19. Thanks, but not quite small enough for what I’d be looking for in a guitar. 😎
