  1. Watching it at the moment. Never really on my radar, but enjoying this. Drummer is great. Some Good pop songs too. Seem like a good bunch of blokes.
  2. Really enjoyed watching that. Although I zoned out for the last section talking about the gear. He seems a nice guy.
  3. Ronaldo using weights on his ankles during training is an intentional act, for a specific purpose. But he knows that when he plays a game (a gig) he will playing without weights, and with light boots. The equivalent would be to use those sprung loaded individual finger trainers to build up stamina, strength and individual finger dexterity, knowing that you’ll be playing a bass that’s comfortable to play when gigging. IMHO natch.
  4. Imagine him and I in the same band! 😂🤪 One long drum solo 😳
  5. Yes I gigged mine, loved it and looked great...
  6. One other mod I was advised to do was to insert some “sleeves” in the body where the bridge posts sit. The original posts are slightly smaller than necessary and the “sleeves” ensure a better (more even) contact between bridge and body. I did find that at certain frequencies there was a slight drop in volume plus unwanted harmonic overtones, presumably because the posts weren’t snug. I believe @Pentode made me some, or possibly someone else from Finnbass. There was a definite positive difference in evenness of volume and no nasty unwanted noise. I’m assuming the recommended replacement bridge has better (snugger?) fit.
  7. I had one of these. Wonderfully well made. I couldn’t quite get over the body shape, just a taste thing. Custom built bass by Mike Walsh for that money is silly.
  8. The Ned model is headless.
  9. I’ve done a few gigs where footie or rugby has been on the tv. I always tried to set up with a clear view of the match. I know, I’m a terrible person.
  10. Probably find the one who suggested it is a korg rep. Achieved his sales target that month. 🥳😊
  11. Went into a guitar shop (not naming names) where a used 4005 was hanging, had the “name” on the headstock taped over. Played great, looked cooler than a cool thing, and was £200. Shop owner was very clear it was Far East copy. I didn’t buy it as I have enough basses (1), but it was tempting. Who knows how much the factory workers get paid, or how much it costs to churn these out, but it’s probably not a lot.
  12. I don’t mind where I’m position, as long as I’m as far away from the lead guitarist, their back line and monitor as possible. Nothing against what they play, but I can’t remember playing with a lead guitarist who is unable to have silly stage volumes. Being placed at the same side as the hi hat is often sensible but depends on the drummer, some of them I really don’t want to look at 🤪
  13. That’s lovely Steve! I miss having an upright, and old European ply’s are lovely. GLWTS. John
  14. I think he’s dead now?!
  15. Slappy through the ages. 16 years old with a fag, to 57 with specs! Check the mullet
  16. I tried, but kept changing my mind so gave up. Probably overanalysing. But did make me think, all my favourite musicians aren’t renowned for being virtuosos. So it wouldn’t be much of a supergroup. 😂
  17. My favourite era and line up. Sorry to the purists, but “whatevs” 🤪
  18. Do members have to be alive still?
  19. You’ll probably get suggestions via PM. .(....no one’s going to publicly declare of any knowledge of “stands” for stage) 🤫
  20. Beautiful! Bet that sounds glorious. Nice to see a lined fretless with dots ON the fret-lines. GLWTS
  21. Unless you’re from Somerset. Anyway, well done and glad you’re hooked! Your son dancing is a great win...better than the usual embarrassment 😎
  22. Best wishes for the gig. Remember to have a laugh, it’ll be over quicker than you think, so try and enjoy the experience. Even the most experienced of pros get nervous before a gig. Sounds like you’ll have an audience who will be rooting for you and won’t notice any mistakes, so relax, and a band who play together regularly so they’ll carry the weight. Great way of “coming out” as a bass player! 😎
  23. Their unlined fretless P’s always look nice & good value, but never played one. Curious.
  24. Those machineheads don’t look particularly well fitted, they’re a bit uneven? My guess is a bitsa.
  25. Bought a Groove 5’er, sold it. Bought it back off same buyer, sold it. Tracked it down, bought it back, sold it. Like a an old flame that is lots of “fun” and exciting when together initially, but long term we’ll never last. I’ve tried to buy an old Squier P bass bitsa back off an old student...many, many times, but she won’t budge. Keeps saying something about “sentimental” reasons, only bass she needs .... blah blah blah. I obviously failed her 🥴
