  1. Blimey you'd go for the MDP approach? You sir have no shame! 😁
  2. I can't think of a bass line that's ever had that effect on me tbh. I can think of plenty that I've though were great, or make me happy. However, "trebley" bass tones have a similar effect on me that the OP describes experiencing when hearing the bass lines he dislikes. So, think of the bass tone from a certain "Affirmative" prog rock ensemble and you'll get the picture. Back on topic. I guess I associate the bass line with the song, it is what it is & makes the record what it is. Can't think of a time I've thought "what this needs is something more interesting/challenging/complicated/etc" But each to his own.
  3. Oi. Butt out! I've got 2 years, 3 months, 4.5 days left.
  4. That's squashed my TF Bass gas thankfully. I can't cope with lined fretless necks with the dots between frets...confuses the hell out of me. So a multitude of dots would send me little brain into a tail spin. These look such fabulous basses though.
  5. My main gigging bass is an Encore special edition P. Cost me under a ton. I've replaced the pickup. The neck is wide & fat and fits like a glove. I don't want another bass. The BL has an arsenal of more expensive basses he is happy for me to use, but why would I? Play what feels good in your hands, you'll likely play better as a result (possibly....subject to terms & conditions)
  6. They've definitely added pics as there was only one image up earlier....and it could have been any old Bass shaped thing it was so dark. Minimalist to say the least.
  7. Or indeed how they would buy an instrument... Add it to the bill I guess? 🤡
  8. It's a musical instruments shop. Sell a lot of reasonably priced 2nd hand gear. EBay presence.
  9. You're welcome. Overdid it on the carry on films over Christmas I'm afraid.
  10. I think the 2x10 isn't included. Don't know if this makes it less of a bargain? Never owned a Mesa rig, but they look like a proper grown ups rig.
  11. Great answers. I've seen people freeze when doing sound checks, or fall apart, ..go all "fingers & thumbs". My own approach is firstly I'll ask the "desk prefect" what they would like & if they're not bothered, I'll tend to do a few open string peddles and then some lines of songs from the set, on the fretted & then the fretless. They're both P basses with same bodies, necks, pups, wiring & strings. Tone rolled off 50%. The LMII is flat & pre eq. I tend to think that as long as I'm happy with on stage volume and everyone else is, I'm not in control of FOH sound so I'll not worry about that. To be fair we have our own sound desk attendant, and they know what sound the BL wants, plus my set up is very basic.
  12. If you are afforded the luxury of a sound check, with a sound engineer flying a FOH PA.... What do you play? Do you ask sound person what they want? Do you play lines from the set? Slap solo? Favourite Bass line evaaah? Get so embarrassed that you barely put 2 notes together? Usually still finding a parking space for the band van? Usually still applying the spray on tan/trousers/hair/teeth/trouser sock? ....or what? Apologies if this has been done before. Apologies if this hasn't been done. 😊
  13. I recently played through an Orange Crush 100 1x15 combo. Loved it.
  14. I think in line with the P bass anagram Stay Ring seems appropriate, or not.....😱
  15. a) All of them on all of them? b) All of them on some of them? c) Some of them on all of them? d) some of them on some of them e) some of them on none of them? f) none of them on some of them? g) none of them on none of them? h) only on Thursdays? Winners win a reinforced P... (I think I need to get back to work)
  16. This argument is like the P bass of bass forums......?
  17. Him & Dee Murray were massive influences on my love of bass 🤩
