  1. I've been watching this & the 79 fretted Ray (which is no longer for sale). Dave's been unwell and is parting company with a few instruments, but keeping some favourites. I'd love that fretless Ray....anyone wanna buy a kidney?
  2. I too wish I'd seen this post 2 years ago. Been putting up with sticky grip all this time! I've tried to use the online form but it keeps giving error messages, then calling the number is fruitless as its a distributors number for stockists (partners). Bugger!
  3. Oh my 🤩 That is lovely. You do like a natural body don't you! I've made a lovely fretless with the one I got off you (tort guard too!)
  4. Average White Band.
  5. I guess it would make earl slick. 🤡 ....actually no, it would make earl sticky...& that doesn't work.
  6. It's OK, I was just being silly. I thought you're point was valid and helpful IMHO. A mate of mine has just finished Paul Young tour & we both discussed "Pino lines" which, as you said, is a case in point, they're recognisable as brand Pino 😎
  7. I think it fits half the thread title 🤡
  8. Love the fact that you're disagreeing with yourself on the thread 😊 IBTL (before this escalates between yourself.)😄 You're right though, it took these guys a while before they were brands in their own right.
  9. Blimey! Not a great advert.
  10. All of the above advice is good. Have a break, take lessons, change of instrument, learn a new genre. Doing something different is often key. Have fun!
  11. Get a headless bass. Your chance of hitting a wall will be somewhat reduced.
  12. To be fair there were only 250 punters in a venue supposed to take a little less than that, and I'm sure it would struggle in a larger setting, but I was impressed nonetheless.
  13. So was informed that promoter was providing backline for gig this Friday just gone. OK so no surprises there, but brought LMii 500 head & 2x10 cab just in case. I play very straightforward (boring?) P basses, with no pedals, so plug in and play. Found, to my surprise, an Orange Crush 100 combo waiting for me & support bands to use. It was DI'd to desk along with mic'd Now this thing had to "compete" with 2 (loud) electric guitars, drums, keys, 3 backing vocalists & mandolin. I don't have bass through monitors, just lead singer's guitar & vox, but thought I would have to on this occasion. I was going to swap it out for my rig for guaranteed "heft", but thought "I'll give it a go". I was proven very wrong! This thing was immense, with loads of headroom. Held it's own on stage, without dialing in too much on the master volume. Very impressive tone and a bit of grit on hand. Made me think about the wattage/power needed for reasonable on stage volume. My LMii very rarely goes above 3 on master. Anyway, hats off to the Crush combo, you served me well and I love the colour!!
  14. Twins had their first gig outing last night. Fretted & unlined fretless P bitsas
  15. Whoops wrong bit
  16. Very tempted to bid in & see what happens.
  17. Agree using same lead & swapping instruments, but use a silent jack.
  18. He's a bit ambitious I'll give them that.... I mean, someone's chucked first set of keys on the table & he's contributed his "wood" ...someones gonna be disappointed.
  19. Spare P pups out of a bass of unknown origin. Work absolutely fine & have hot DC resistance of 14k ohms. Come with gold screws & springs.
  20. The wise Mr Flowers comes to mind "I've got ham but I'm not a hamster". Or was it "I've got a badge but I'm not a badger"? Owning a car alone doesn't make you a driver. The moment you drive the car however....
  21. The guys playing style & tone is obviously part of the Korn sound, so it is what it is. Not my cuppa tea but I'm not going to judge it musically. The thing that intrigued me was the difficulty I had in hearing a discernible note on the low strings. What does he tune it to? Are there tuners out there that can sense a low Z? Interesting.
  22. Looks like it's sold subject to payment. 😎
  23. Alesis SR16 Drum machine. With psu, no original box but will be packaged well. Owned from new, just haven't used it for a while. Good condition, tested & working. Price includes packing & postage within UK. Thanks, John
  24. I think it used to be a functioning bass guitar.
