Bass Merchant Closing Down Sale
GarethFlatlands replied to bassmerchant's topic in General Discussion
That sucks, I'm browsing the site now with a view to buying something to put some cash your way. -
No way my small girly hands could manage a beast like that, but it's beautiful anyway. Congrats on the purchase, I hope it was worth the wait.

Suggestions for a cheap/cheeful USB Guitar interface
GarethFlatlands replied to mike257's topic in Recording
The ,mackie spike can be picked up cheaply
I've used a Spike for years and always had issues with plugging the guitar in direct. I have loads of issues with bad signal and have to adjust the lead on a variety of guitar/lead combinations to get it to work. No idea why or if this is a common issue. I can't get a good signal with my Jazzmaster at all. It's fine with a POD or similar. -
I always thought you needed to be told you were good at first when you sucked to keep plugging awaty and told you weren't as good as you thought later on to keep you trying. Of course the internet has skewed all that slightly.

If it plays and sounds good, go for it!
-
Depends what make it is and what kind of condition everything is in. If it plays well and you can see yourself using it then do some work on it but don't expect much in the way of re-sale if it's not a brand anyone has heard of.
-
Yeah, bit too much relief on the neck but a minor tweak sorted it just fine. Had second thoughts about selling it but I haven't played it since I got my Streamer, hope you enjoy it.
bought a warwick corvette rockbass of gareth for a bargain price and super well packed, great comms, would trade with gareth again in a second, thanks for an easy and pleasant transaction , ps bass play lovely too :-) matt
Cheers, adjusted the truss rod a bit before sending it as the action was a bit high! Glad it arrived OK.

Shipped Matt my Warwick Rockbass yesterday after some PM correspondence. He was very easy and friendly to deal with, patient too as it took me a while to sort appropriate packaging out and he sorted the courier too after I failed miserably at it. I wouldn't have any worries about dealing with him again.

Help with Behringer BXL3000A please!!!
GarethFlatlands replied to stoko's topic in Repairs and Technical
If it stopped mid song I'd start with the fuse as you said. Might be best running it through a surge protected 4 way in future to help protect it. -
Where are the UK Warmoth, Mighty Mite and Best Bass Gear?
GarethFlatlands replied to discreet's topic in General Discussion
I've considered building my own bass but had the issues you mentioned, it's good to see there are companies out there and that people have had good experiences with them. -
I have a fairly shocking sense of rhythm for a bassist so I found the early exercists quite useful, although dull and uninspiring as mentioned.
It's online only I'm afraid, but I guess that does mean you can't accidentally throw it away! As for prices, I believe it is because the magazine is international and thus having a list of ever changing prices in different currencies would prove ineffective. It's not reall a metal driven magazine. I think this particular edition has some metally features and columns but there will no doubt be space for everyone! The list of artists I want to interview is certainly varied between genres. I'd be happy to put forward reasonable suggestions for reviews and interviews too be it gear or artists.
I'd have thought the manufacturers would give you a list price for stuff you'd be able to translate between $/£/Euros but there we go. Looking forward to seeing a more diverse range of music styles covered, let us know when the next issue is out.

Warwick Rockbass Corvette - Sold pending safe arrival
GarethFlatlands replied to GarethFlatlands's topic in Basses For Sale
Annoyingly, I finished work late so didn't get to swing by the shop to check on the box. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. And the 3rd verse of that song is drums, bass and vox so it should be easier to hear if you've got OK speakers. Nice jazz-ish tone. The serial number ends 02 so I assume it's 2002 it it follows the usual Warwick numbering. -
Only tried it on guitar for 1 practice so far, it's a really good sounding pedal, on a par with my modded Rat in terms of distortion pedals I've tried. I think the lack of a blend control might let it down on bass. It also seems to have less low end but it might work well. I'll give it a whirl when I can.

Will do peeps, it's a bit gutting to see this go for peanuts but it's sat doing nothing since I upgraded and someone else might appreicate it more. Bass was used on this video which will hopefully post properly. http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=193685832600 -
Having owned both, I'd echo everything said above. I'm currently DI less but if I had to buy one again, it would be the MXR.
if not sold by next month..i doubt it wont have been! im all over this! unfortunately no cash till then
It's been on here for ages with no interest! huwgarms has asked about sending it by courier so I'm going to do some homework and will amend the ad if needed to include postage details. Edit - remembered I know a guy who works in a music shop so have made enquiries about scoring any unsused cardboard bass boxes he might have spare. -
I think someone threw up on the floor, drew a line round the sick and used that as a template for the body shape.

Still for sale is my black active Warwick Rockbass Corvette. There's another thread elsewhere which I can't be bothered finding. Generally good condition, a few nicks here and there but nothing major. Electronics and stuff all working fine and a recently replaced jack socket as the old one was crackling. £100 collected from Sheffield or we can arrange delivery nearby. No, that's not a typo. One hundred pounds.
